For persona, 5 is an excellent game.
If you want to know more about Joker himself then uh probably play the game he debuted in. He doesn't appear in any others! The /smtg/ starter guide might be of use to you if you want to play more than just Persona 5, though.

I do hope they pull a Castlevania in terms of representation and have spirits, music and stage elements from across the whole MegaTen franchise. It'd be a dickmove if they don't considering they namedrop SMT and it's legacy on Nintendo consoles in Joker's press release.
Goku. I don't want someone like him in but I understand that he would probably be a positive inclusion anyway especially because he has such a cult following. Also Etika would probably have a heart attack

I've gotten pretty sick of the really aggressive "if you don't like the plant you hate fun, you mad bro" attitude surrounding it. Like it's inconceivable that maybe you just think it's a lame pick and it's not because you're frothing with rage over how it totally stole the slot of insert character you wanted here.
Steve/Minecraft has had a bigger impact on Gaming as a whole than a lot of the characters already in Smash bros.
square's not the one with the say on sora, all original content made for kingdom hearts is disney's- that's part of the reason i don't wanna see him get in myself, i'm afraid what knocking on that door would lead to.

My non-interest in Kingdom Hearts aside, the idea of having a Kingdom Hearts representative who is scrubbed clean of Disney content just feels like an odd pull. That's like if you put Mario in the game but you never acknowledged that Luigi, Peach, and Toad exist.
What does that have to do with them actually being a good addition to a Console game mascot party-fighter? By that logic PUBG Man should be in the game too. Same with Fortnite Character, same with Darth Vader.

tbh the only character with no ties of its origin to Nintendo is probably Ryu from Street Fighters, whose game originated from Arcade. The Persona series is a spin-off of the SMT series which started on Nintendo consoles and is still there, and the same for the FF series. Hell iirc even FF7 was originally planned for the SNES until they decided to go for CD-ROM on the PS instead.
If Smashbros is meant to be a celebration of gaming, then theres your reason to be a good addition.
But if you need more than that, I think you're being REALLY short sighted if you dont think theres potential for a solid fighter moveset with minecraft.

I will keep saying it. Minecraft is about the world. Not the skin you change when you open the game. If they wanted to properly represent Minecraft it would have to be a stage.
It's just that steve isn't a appealing character. it shouldn't be that hard to grasp honestly and I find it bizarre when people can't wrap their heads around not wanting shitty placeholder art man in a celebration of gaming.
Nobody gives a fuck about Steve. No one. People care about building their lego world, downloading skins of actual characters and telling their own stories. I've never once seen or heard anyone mention the default skin outside of "how do I replace it." The jank low effort animations, the fact all he has is a bow and a sword and the fact he has no personality or anything backing him is why there's such a violent negative reaction to wanting him in.
Like being real the only reason anyone wants him in is just to piss others off and sorry if I think that it's a shit call to waste a slot just for people to spam XD LOL UR MAD at whoever you don't like that day. Could Sakurai give him a moveset? I don't doubt it but does anyone actually want that over almost any other character possible? Not really.
Diverting topics bu I also feel it should be mentioned as a heads up that if you use Mii Swordfighter's Blurring Blade side special on Duck Hunts Wild Gunman you insta crash the game. That seems like a pretty big problem
Because, as has been said many, man times before, Steve is ugly Steve has no character. Steve has no personality, Steve has no expression beyond the player's action which is to create the world around them. Steve is a placeholder. There is no artistic vision, no authorial intent with Steve, he is a poorly made flimsily animated stack of rectangles that only stuck around because the game's placeholder assets became iconic faster than they could be replaced. He has two animations: waggle legs to walk, and waggle arms to hit things because he, again, was a placeholder, thiw as not some core integral part of the character's vision. He's not like Game & Watch who's limited animation is full of big expressive poses that were intended on the Game & Watch itself to express motion and expression in a single frame. And he's not like the comically focused Wii Fit Trainer. There's no way to make Steve visually interesting without completely redesigning him as a character.
Hell, we know what Steve was at least initially intended to look like, or at least a concept of how the game's art direction could have shifted, given that there was a test model made that got into the game's files.

So where does that leave Steve? Well, let's look at his potential moveset. Well, he uses basic weapons. He builds things, and he breaks things. Maybe he throws entities like Creepers at you, or simple items that are used in-game. Doesn't that sound a lot more like assist trophy material to you? Or, as has been mentioned, a stage itself? Minecraft makes for a boring playable character and a more interesting support character or stage.
Smash bros isn't just a "celebration of gaming" though? Where are you getting that idea? There are dozens of hugely important characters in video game history not in the game. Crash Bandicoot, Banjo, Jill Valentine, Leon, Parappa the Rapper, Master Chief, Monster Hunter, Crazy Taxi, Heihachi, Dragon Quest character, Conker, Guitar Hero man, Scoprion or Sub-Zero, ANY PC game character. Sonic still has only one representative for fuck sake even though he was a direct Mario rival and now fire-forged ally that still sell millions of copies.
I'm not being short-sighted. There's just not an argument presented in the thread for the specific characters beyond "i wanna see them/i don't care if they get in". Minecraft isn't gonna get a representative just because Minecraft was revolutionary. Hundreds of games have been revolutionary.

Does anyone know where I can get the 'Naked Snake' spirit, the one that you can enhance into Big Boss? I can't find a straight answer through googling. It has a chance to show up on the spirit board, right? But I'm assuming it also has a position in the World of Light. Unlike a lot of other spirits, though, I can't easily find the location of this one via google.

I hate getting put into team battles. I wish the preferred rules were a bit more strict when finding a match.
Speaking of Piranha Plant, and considering how its the first character to have a Poison inflicting move, its kind of weird how Ivysaur doesn't have one. I remember in PM that his Dair and/or Uair used to put a small amount of 'poison' damage on the opponent, which could definitely still be possible now.
You can keep the same knockback, but reduce the initial damage and have the poison do the rest (and maybe slightly increase the overall damage so it doesn't feel like a nerf).
Tbh though I'd rather we don't have another sword wielder, even if he is slightly different.
is there no option to keep your character selected between matches? it's kinda really annoying to have to keep re-selecting a character every few minutes
the only other smash game i've played is brawl and IIRC your character would remain selected between matches
