World of Tanks - Tier 8 Is Completely Balanced Edition

Finally, a new wot thread
Thought fp was burnt out, the FPEU clan has like 4 people playing average, and that includes me
Currently grinding the missions/jagde100
Also never mentioned in the last thread, I have a BT-SV now hehehe
What clan are people in here? You're mentioning FPEU, while the OP links to BIRDS. I'd love to join it, but i'm kinda confused.
I've been clanless for a while now after I felt too much like a useless piece of shit while I was part of a competitive clan (and the clan was full of racist, homophobic dicktits). Don't really see much of a point to being in a clan myself as I don't really like playing in platoons and I haven't run into any community outside of Facepunch that I want to be part of.
FPEU has been around since the early days of world of tanks, pretty much was the main FP clan for the EU region, it's pretty much defunct now, I'll have a look who's the lead, not sure if their around facepunch anymore

holy fuck multithreading in world of tanks truly this we have advanced into a new era
A coworker of mine got me playing this again recently. I thought arty was cancerous before, but holy shit the new system is even worse, imo. Instead of one massive hit it's just turned into a more drawn out process with that stupid stun on top of things. They did nothing to address the fact that you have no ability to retaliate or even know you're being targeted.
As for the armored cars I'm disappointed that the AMX-10 RC didn't make it as the tier 10, especially considering the ERC-90 made it in the tree even though it's newer. Wouldn't mind seeing the AML-90 added at some point too.
That mission is hot garbage. It's the only one where you need to rely on the enemy doing dumb shit instead of playing in a certain way yourself.
I think i'll need to wait for a high tier russian medium and troll people with the turret before i'll be able to complete the one for the Excalibur campaign. People just don't shoot me enough in heavies.
Grinding artillery really shows how absolutely stupid it is. It's completely zero-sum: I either have a game where I "miss" all of my shots that I take fully zeroed or I land every shot and just fuck someones day up.
Man, there will probably never be a tank again that struck a cord with me as well as the AMX ELC bis before the light tank re-balancing. I had 1,400 games in it and an excellent performance record. It had the perfect blend of mobility, camouflage, and a gun beyond its tier to pull off the role of a spotter and a pseudo tank destroyer. It could harass heavies way beyond its weight class by just being too difficult to spot and hit so its tiny health pool was no issue.
Now one of its key strengths, mobility, has been brought down so severely that it can't really pull off the insane maneuvers it used to. The current handling model also got rid of the slides you would go into if you made a tight enough turn at enough speed, replaced by the "hand brake" maneuver that doesn't quite allow for the long slides you could pull off in the version before its introduction.
I miss it so.
Totally get you.
Had a horrible game yesterday, a bloody cromwell keeps up with me and I don't have a good gun or anything. Can't really circle anyone anymore etc.
Tried to ragesell it, but it didn't work, tried again, didn't work. Closed the game, thought to myself that thank fuck it didn't work, because I still have to grind the ELC for the wheeled vehicles. And then realized I had some modpacks gold locker on, that's why I couldn't sell it, as it had to demount something.
I hope everyone's doing okay! Happy New Year's to everyone!
I have free XP saved up in case wheeled vehicles actually end up good, the "new" ELC AMX is awful.
I have like 15k xp on my ELC AMX and 30k freexp.
The 15k was pretty easy to make during the 5x weekend. I have a 2 skill crew on the ELC and a female crew on my 12t / soon to go on the 13 75. Almost would feel like a waste if I'd just drop them.
I tried adopting a new rule today where I just stop playing if I lose three games but I won my first match and subsequently lots three in a row so I guess that won't work out if I actually want to play lol.
I stop playing once I start looking at how much xp I've got on my current grind tank and checking tanks further up the branch for their stats. Also get rid of your performance tracker mods and you'll start feeling better. Worked on me, I promise.
I don't have any performance tracking mods (or any mods for that matter), I was just curious as to what the actual statistics looked like. The game is rough to play at the best of times, 5x weekends are, as they always have been, borderline unplayable. I've had several games where up to a third of my team has 0 kills. I bought a Hummel on Thursday to try and push for the GWP and it's sitting at a 31% win rate.
Don't worry too much about arty winrate, especially before the top tiers. You can't reasonably carry in an SPG. The hummel was my first T6 SPG and i thought i was doing awful at 26% winrate until i checked my stats, and they're totally fine.

People say bots increase during these events which makes sense but it's genuinely hard to distinguish bots and some of the people who play this game. I've had teammates who clearly aren't bots because they are platooned or communicating die doing zero or near-zero damage. I've seen sealclub platoons in Pz1c's and Cruiser III's die in the first three minutes. I've seen top tier KV-2's do zero damage. When I inspect other peoples stats after the game the consistent markers are a) over 20,000 battles and b) a winrate below the average of 49%. It's downright bizarre coming back to this game after not playing in 4+ years and still managing to be one of the best players in any given match, despite never firing gold ammo or the fact that most of my grinding tanks lack equipment.
SP1C is one of the best carry tanks in the game, especially when top tier.

Sometimes, i really question what's going on in my teammates minds. A BC 25t AP got himself ammoracked as he tried to scout in the center of the map, so 11 of my teammates stopped and hid at A3-A4 and stayed there for the entire game. They weren't even spotting towards the hill or firing or anything, they genuinely just hid in the bushes as if the enemy would drive past and spare their lives.
I didn't realise they had stopped going up the hill until a progetto shot me at C5. I didn't realise they weren't even spotting anything until three tanks shot me in the ass from the church.
I don't even know, man
WoT doesn't have teammates, they're just meatshields for you to use.
Oh right. The first game this year, i got TK-d. At least it was pretty much in the end and we won anyways, but cmon man..
Probably the most interesting thing about wot (and wows really) to me is that you don't really want your teammates to do well, you want them to be just competent enough to survive while you farm damage off the retarded enemies. Pretty funny.
I'd say it gets better, but I haven't played the Tiger II in years.

this is what makes the LT campaign missions in WoT so fucking infuriating. not only do you have to play well yourself to get your own damage, but you also have to rely on your teammates not to be complete mouthbreathers and actually shoot the things you spot. there have been times where on lakeville or malinovka i can light half the enemy team travelling perpendicularly to my team to get to part of the map and my teammates miss every shot and can't hit the broad side of a maus
then i play my maus and get malinovka or mannerheim line (arctic region) and get swiss cheesed just trying to leave the base, fucking infuriating
So after getting tilted over my 20% winrate during last weekends 5x event I started playing War Thunder tanks in earnest and yeah, I can kind of see this. It does things I wish WoT would do (namely, removing indirect fire, invisible tanks, having a mode where you can respawn) but in every other regard it feels like one step forward, two steps back.
I don't like how the ground forces mode is split into three playlists because Arcade Battles feels stupid and absolutely not how the game should be played but realistic battles can get frustrating at times. The map design is really questionable too; I find that a lot of objectives are in the middle of an area without cover and with convenient sightlines allowing teammates and enemies to just post up and forget about playing the objective. Spawncamping is pretty common as well, exacerbated by the matchmaker that sort of works but due to the historical nature of the vehicles means you can sometimes find yourself in a situation just like WoT where there is nothing you can do.
The grind is far worse due to how slow the matches tend to be and because you have to grind for stuff like repair kits and fire extinguishers. People have been criticizing the latter for as long as ground forces has been out but they haven't fixed it, presumably because you can spend real money to buy it outright. It also doesn't help that the game is at the point in its lifecycle where new players have pretty much dropped off totally, leaving low tier matches swarming with people who have played thousands of battles over several years. WoT has this problem too but its magnified by just how much knowledge of where to shoot tanks and map positioning is in WT than WoT.
"complete accident or coincidence" is a good way to put it. Other than the tank models and internal layouts, I have to express are cool as hell, everything else feels shoddily put together. WoT feels like it's one or two big changes from being a good game, WT feels like it's in alpha or on Steam early access except it's been available for like 5 years now.
Out of the three tank games I've played, World of Tanks is the one I keep returning to. War Thunder's ground forces just makes me so angry, I can't derive any enjoyment out of its sheer clunk, total disregard for balance, and the hard-on for realism over gameplay. Armoured Warfare is the game I play when I really wanna play tanks but am just too fed up with going up against other players.
I also really wish AW had the team size, budget and player base of WoT to become a proper competitor and not just ride on the coat tails of WoT's success, scraping its dropped change off the floor. I want it not just so I'd have something else than WoT for my tank wants, but to give WG more reason for positive change, even if it were something minor like dropping prices on the premium store or more frequent sales. Since I mentioned the premium store, I also want WG to have the courage to nerf and rebalance premium tanks more often than the rare cases like with the Super Pershing.
I've had Armored Warfare installed since beta, the PVE makes for a nice timewaster when you want to play a tank game but not throw your PC out the window. I've dabbled in PVP, it's not awful. The game as a whole has a lot of QoL stuff I wish WoT had. The flipside of this is after Obsidian left they completely gave up the guise of being a decent F2P game and went Full Russia with shit like a battle pass and putting tier 10 premium tanks in loot boxes.
