Who hurt you bad enough to want to do this?
the absolute madman
As I noted some time ago, simply skipping game just isn't my thing. It disturbs me. It may as well be one of the (several) hints at my OCD
dont worry, if you beat it twice (both discs twice that is) you get to play as trish who has dante's moveset from DMC1 so if you beat both campaigns twice, you get to play a very slightly less shit version of an awful, awful game wow, what a value!

Gotta say, at the very least the final boss, The Despair Embodied, was kinda challenging and fun, althought its design was really shitty, like basically everything and everyone in Devil May Cry 2. Also, if this was the shipped product, I pale to even think what was the state of the game when they asked Hideaki Itsuno to wrap up production in the short span of few months. Oh well, that's that. I can finally move ont- https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/225139/627b3c4c-6929-4222-908d-515fcc8a7299/20190326205114_1.jpg SON OF A BITCH
is it true that you can just spam guns in DMC2 and basically win the game?
yes. the game wasn't intended as a hack-and-slash action game from the start, and even with Itsuno's influence, the guns are powerful enough that you can basically shoot to win all game long. and considering how fuckawful and limited the actual sword combos are combined with some bosses just never really exposing themselves to melee range properly, it's kind of a necessity even.
lucia is super fun and is the best part about dmc2.

I'm halfway throught Lucia's Disc and to say that I disagree with you would be a massive understatement. Lucia spots different animations and weapons from Dante, but the gameplay remains exactly the same. It also doesn't help that, especially for a playthrought one is supposed to take on after finishing the main game, the general level of challenge is yet again abysmal, so I don't have any incentive whatsoever to experiment with different weapons and move sets. Aside from that, I'm basically playing the Dante's Disc all over again, only with reshuffled and reskinned bosses and environments and maybe a handful of entirely new cutscenes. This is especially jarring if you consider that, by all accounts, Lucia is the true protagonist of the game, so one would expect her side of the story to be more rich and meaningful than that. But then again, Devil May Cry 2 isn't that big on "story" or "plot" to begin with. Given that, apparently, the game had such a trouble production, I really have to wonder why they went with all the trouble of creating such an additional, useless playthrought instead of ironing out the issues and massively improving Dante's base experience. I'm told the second disc was made because people demanded a playable Trish experience, but said people asked for Trish, not Lucia, so I really can't see the point
Lucia is a lot shorter than Dante's story so at the very least it'll be over soon.
One of the most sickening underwater level I've ever experienced in a videogame and an anti-climatic final boss fight later ... https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/225139/b5ef00ff-2acf-4523-9982-70e166fcb081/20190327203626_1.jpg I can now finally have access to the supposed good stuff, and holy shit if Devil May Cry 3 has a great direction from the get-go
DMC3 is going to make you a very happy boy
Please don't break your neck from the absolute tonal whiplash that is dmc3 compared to 2.
the whiplash from 2 to 3 is the best part of 2 and the only reason to play it (except for the arius cutscenes)
You want to talk about whiplash? What's the deal with DMC2's menu font? The random vertical alignment, that is. Like XIII's logo. https://www.mobygames.com/images/covers/l/31575-xiii-playstation-2-front-cover.jpg Like, that's the one big distinct thing that always stands out to me about DMC2, the Shakytext font on everything from the logo to menu buttons.
dmc 5 is aaaaaaa pretty good game https://orig00.deviantart.net/90fc/f/2019/086/6/4/pullmydeviltrigger_by_superninjanub-dd35gfd.gif
so you can apparently play as short haired dante from the prologue with a button combination at the costume select screen hold all shoulder buttons and confirm button.
There's something about Vergil's fighting style in Devil May Cry 3 that I find incredibly entertaining. Also, I thought that the intro sequence displayed the campiest (in a good way) the game could get, but oh boy if I was wrong on that account

Wow, Devil May Cry 3's bosses are the most downright polite in the entire history of gaming. They welcome you with respect, are clearly enjoying their respective fight and, once defeated, are even nice enough to turn themselves into weapons for your personal use. Good chaps all around, I say
And then Dante sells them for rent money.
well hey, the water needs turning on and those toilets need flushing
Hey, just because they are bad guys, does not mean they are bad guys.
