You really need to bust your ass or spend some Devil Breakers as Nero for a SSS. Getting to SS isn't terrible, but the leap from that to SSS seems immense. V's also super fun to play. Definitely takes some getting used to. I'm running everything on max on my 980 Ti, native 1080p, and if there's any drops, I haven't noticed 'em. It's been butter smooth.
loving the game so far, been getting straight S in every mission after the prologue (except an A on mission 5) feels great, looks great, plays great and has so many little things for longtime fans i'm also happy that (minor mission 3 enemy spoiler) the death scissors still have the critical hit system from DMC1
I love how the music gets crazier the more style you have. Too bad I'm so shit at the game that I don't get any music on any of the boss fights.
It's a shame I'll never be able to enjoy the Devil May Cry series. I think I'd enjoy the gameplay, and I even played both Bayonetta and DmC: Devil May Cry for crying out loud, but I've always found that particular flavor of shonen-like Japanese machismo and over the top, well, everything to be downright unbereable
bloody palace can't come soon enough because these characters have so much god damn moves
having reached mission 14 (big spoilers) i'm not sure how i feel about all the changes, while the new sword is a cool idea, the summon swords ability just adds an extra button you have to mash while doing moves to maximize your damage and style output and the styles just became a mess now i'm not a fan of sin devil trigger either but i can just ignore that mechanic since not using it means i have more normal DT the story's kind of a mess now too, i was hoping they wouldnt just bring vergil back because i felt it'd cheapen the story of 3, but bringing him back into two characters is just dumb now instead of being an awesome rival-to-rival duel like in DMC3 fighting vergil is now just a big super demon vs a small super demon the story can still redeem itself but it's not looking good so far i'm still loving the game but i'm a bit disappointed because it had the potential to maybe even surpass DMC3 but i dont think it can anymore
maybe finish the game.
Oh boy you are in for a world of surprises.
i was planning to of course but i don't see any issue with airing out some thoughts while i'm in the middle of it
The co-op is really strange in this. I think it's more of a test bed for multiplayer features in a future game, like a Dragon's Dogma sequel.
Just beat the game in one sitting, my only real gripe is the general lack of level variation, but I have zero complaints of gameplay or story, it ended exactly how I wanted it to for eleven years and I'm so pleased.
Practically a logical evolution of the ideas behind Resident Evil 6's four player co-op boss fights.
happy to say my worries were unfounded and the last quarter of the game is absolute perfection may have dethroned DMC3 as my all-time favorite game but I'll have to wait till i've replayed to a couple dozen times before I can really make that judgement cut
https://youtu.be/KuVhm1ejjH8 V's SS air taunt and his SSS taunt are both amazing
I gotta say I initially hated everything about Dante's theme in DMC5 but it's growing on me. I wont' listen to it by itself but during gameplay it's not bad.
They changed the song from the initial reveal. The change isn't extreme, just the lyrics being more like someone singing rather than strangling a cat. A subtle change but it makes a bit difference IMO.
It's kinda lame you have to choose one battle track per character. I would have prefered being able to make a randomized playlist of all the pre-order songs.
I know they replaced the singer because of allegations against the previous one but the song still remains mostly the same and I still don't enjoy it by itself.
Despite the new vocals on Dante's track sounding better, it still didn't really mesh with me so I just used swapped it to the DMC3 battle track for Dante.
I wasn't a fan at first, but chugging through enemies with Balrog and Cavalier to the pace of Subhuman feels really good to the point where I can't imagine Dante gameplay without hearing it.
I changed every character's battle theme to Devil Trigger cause the chorus is fucking amazing when it really starts going once you've got a nice S rank going. Started my second playthrough today and I'm kinda bummed that there don't seem to be any proper unlockable costumes yet, besides the super mode costumes?
the only costumes in the game are the pre-order ex costumes, alt color costumes, and super mode costumes.
That sucks. I was looking forward to wacky fun stuff.
Alright just beat DMC5, fucking hell that ending. I want MORE.
Dante is going to be the antagonist in the next game if they make one. There's no pizza in hell and he's going to open a portal to get a slice.
So i'd say i really liked this game. Video i'm about to post is spoilers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhIOsXVRVqU
I cannot for the life of me get S rank on either awakening or demon king. All other leves ive easily S ranked, but those two it just wont budge. I get ss/sss constantly in both, no continues, and beat is with the S speed bonus.
Hold the press, people, 'cause, apparently, some friends of mine decided to gift me Devil May Cry 5 on Playstation 4 for my birthday, so now I really have to play it. I hope the PS4 port doesn't have any issue now, does it? By the way, should I get the Devil May Cry HD Collection plus Devil May Cry 4 on Steam while I'm at it? Are they required to understand what's going on?
The only thing that got me more hype was "FUCK YOU" PS4 port is just fine if you don't mind 2 seconds of ass being censored If you want to care about the story then 5 is going to be complete nonsense without playing at least 3 and 4, with 1 still recommended. There's a short 5 minute "story so far" video on the main menu, but it's definitely worth playing the rest considering they're all relatively short. The story of 5 feels really special when you've followed along with all these characters' stories.
like half of 5's entire runtime is fanservice for 1 and 3 so you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not playing through the series first
