Probably a combination of Lenovo and cost-cutting. Or Lenovo dicking about with profit margins (I'm sure they get a share of each sold headset).
Personally I'll plug in my Pioneer headphones into the 3.5mm jack, but it's going to be a little annoying niggle for sure when using the headset. Everything else about the S seems great but the sound.
its not really my thing but i can agree vrchat could be considered a killer app
what AAA? theres some shitty bethesda ports and psvr exclusives (RE7, Borderlands 2) and thats it, id love to see origins in vr even if it was limited to the educational mode
With a quick glance, three games spring to mind. For example Lone Echo is widely considered AAA.

There's the upcoming Stormland.

Defector

Defector looks so cool
It really looks like it encapsulates all the great things people want vr for.
My year+ of owning an Oculus is having fun with the small amount of games that I have for it and the eternal suffering of waiting on 20 different projects I follow to actually be released.
@Pilo Just view the base stations, while they're tracking, with your phone. If they're undamaged, the IR should show through as two lines, vertical and horizontal.

So uh, experience is mixed? Not sure if there's something wrong with my build or if I put the grips backwards or something, but when I grab a weapon with both hands, the "forward" axis of the gunstock is about 5 degrees to the left of my gun is aiming in-game.
Truth be told I have no idea how that could happen, it seems like it would be my mistake somehow, but I#ll see what I can do.
I played a while to get used to it cause the whole three points of rigid contact thing still applies, and its still better than not having a gunstock, but my real life muscle memory with aiming a rifle doesn't currently carry over.
I wish the S had a little bit more going for it, I would have been a lot more interested in buying it if it had a higher refresh rate screen.
if you have long hair how do you keep it out of your hmd?im really tempted to go get it cut off but i know i will regret it later
How long? I've never had a problem keeping mine out, I just make sure there is none over my face before I put the headset on.
shoulder length+its also really fine which makes it worse
just put it in a ponytail
Thanks for hitting me back, that's pretty much everything I wanted to know about it. How does the stock height feel does it feel weirdly low or on point? If you figure out that 5 degree offset ill prob start printing this asap lol.
Superhot devs share their experience of bringing the game to Quest: https://superhotgame.com/no-tethers-no-limits-a-very-long-post-about-a-year-of-rebuilding-superhot-vr-for-the-oculus-quest/

You can somewhat sdjust stock height by flipping the stock 180 but otherwise yeah feels fine. Im gonna do some experimenting later on with the grips
After having a Rift for 2 years running on a barely-capable PC (2009 - 2010 high-end hardware with a GTX 970 added later), I finally bit the bullet and bought a completely new computer yesterday.
Holy fucking shit, it's so worth it. Conventional PC gaming aside (I can't wait to have more frames in Fallout 4), VR is so much more enjoyable now. And I was already enjoying it.
I love VR to a degree where I'd play GORN and H3 even though my touch controllers would have momentary tracking failure once or twice a minute and I'd get a stuttering average of maybe 20 frames per second. I bought Blade and Sorcery and I could barely run it, but by god it was so fun when I'd get even 5 seconds of fluid control to thrust a dagger into somebody's chest. Even if I had to limit it to one NPC at a time in order to keep it from being unplayable.
I spent half an hour last night with constantly smooth tracking and FPS in Blade and Sorcery while getting right in the middle of a 10-man free-for-all. After 2 years of putting up with underperforming hardware, It was indescribably euphoric. I really can't put it into words.
I think VR is valuable to different people for different things. My wife had the most fun just using Google Earth in VR and looking at panoramic shots of places around the world.
For me, shooting and slashing in VR is really all I want out of it. H3VR, Robo Recall, GORN, and Blade and Sorcery are all the killer apps I need to call VR worth it.
Seconded H3VR. It's just the game if you want to shoot lots and lots and lots of different guns. Every time I watch a new forgotten weapon video I get inspired to play H3VR because chances are the weapon is in the game
If just shooting guns is all you need then yeah, that's about it. For actual gameplay value though, H3VR is on the bottom of the list for me. It's an enthusiast tech demo with shitloads of detailed weapons, but not a game imo.
Have you tried the game modes thst arent just static shooting ranges? Take and Hold? Meat Grinder? Meatmas?
I particularly like Take and Hold because the massive variety in possible weapon pickups can really change the flow of the game.
My favorite gun is probably the bolt action pistol, just for being a 1-hit hand cannon
"It's not a game"
> Game has multiple varied gamemodes

between the Vive, Rift and Rift S, which do you guys think is the better buy?
those Rift S screen photos look really good, but i'm worried about the inside-out tracking and general facebook creepiness.
Speaking of taking T&H, it just got a new massive update like two weeks ago. It's been completely overhauled with new sosig AI and other elements
I wanna see some HP Reverb display comparisons
Index is the absolute top of the line if you have the money to spend (1079€ for full kit). If you do not have any VR headset yet and are on a budget, the Rift S is the best choice in that case (449€).
I never have any oculus services running, every time I want to use my rift I open up the OculusDebugTool.exe and start the services manually.
Not creepin' on me zuck.

Wonder what this will mean for BeatSaver and custom map mods.
