would grab an index but the opportunity to grab one is going to be either this month or the next, index won't be out
Surely there is a whole licensing minefield with an official level editor?
Maybe it will work by allowing streaming services (youtube, spotify, etc) to provide the audio?
Otherwise, maybe it will only be a packaging / creation suite without any official distribution mechanism.
Alternatively, they could have a library of music to pick from affordable artists that licensed their work to them?
imo get a used vive, i got mine last week for £325 in cex. two index lighthouses are about £280 on ebay vive controllers are going for £70 each and headsets are £100+ when the index headsets and controllers become available i can upgrade and get a decent amount back by putting the vive headset and controllers on ebay
I'd say get the rift s unless you know you'll have the money (and patience) for an index. In my case since I'll be paid like shit I'll have to get the rift s first, use that for a few months until I can get the index. After that I'll either sell the rift s or give it to someone in my family or friends.
Would be nice to see this comparison with all the newer stuff that's out rather than a mix. Oddysey/+, Pimax 8k, Vive Pro, etc.
a friend is going to the US later this month / early next month so he'll be able to get something there in a store. used or an index are sadly not options
well i mean you haven't had VR for the few years it's been out. would it be an issue to wait a little longer? Or is VR something you want to get into ASAP?
I will definitely need to try the index before I even remotely think of upgrading
the problem is that it's not easy to get a hold of VR here (for reasonable prices), so this is a rare opportunity. if you don't think it's worth getting a gen 1 device i wouldn't mind waiting til something on the level of the index is affordable, no probs (because as you said i've been without VR for all this time)
My first foray into VR, got the Vive and got it all set up, aside from minor issues with the quality because of my eyesight issues being a tiny (but bearable problem), loving the shit out of Blade & Sorcery.
Where in the US? In many major cities you can find used vives on craigslist for cheap.
Miami, but the guy doesn't want to do anything other than go into a store and walk out with a box. not even Amazon deliveries. i've asked :l
Does anyone know how the shipping works with Oculus? Will they dispatch it on the 21st May or will they dispatch it before then to arrive on the 21st?
Just had a genius idea to stop me bashing in my walls and keep me more room space aware. I'll get a welcome mat or something, one of those that aren't uncomfortable to stand on but in socks you'd feel it. That way I can put it as my center point, or, if for a game like B&S a bit further back to give me room for forward movements.
I personally use a 6'x6' shock absorbing exercise mat (connected tiles). Great for extended play because it's less painful standing around the entire time.
I'm probably a bit late to this, but god damn has Blades and Sorcery modding gotten good.
Seems EU Rift S / Quest orders are being processed
Managed to sell my Vive to a friend. Very much looking forward to the Index. Shame I can't get it until September but I'm glad there's lots of interest in VR to warrant it being sold out.
Oh nice, all old SUPERHOT Kickstarter backers are getting the Quest version for free! Was debating whether to purchase it again for Quest but now I won't have to.
The entire game changed for me when I realized I could bash people with literally anything. Shields, fists, pommel, props.
I like bashing enemies till they drop their weapon and then grabbing them so I can toy around with my kill or pretend it's a wrestling game.
I've won many waves with just two bucklers and a dream.
This video just came out so now I can shill without writing an essay gushing about it
TL;DR shows the true amazing potential of VR for crafting, interacting with the environment and social games (I'm an antisocial and still enjoy it in spite of that)
It's still early in development but worth checking out for yourself

Holy shit how i have never heard of that game? all the interactions look so intuitive SPECIALLY black smithing, thinkering with the machines, damm this gives me huge hopes for more complex interactions in VR Games, i really dig how most of the interactions in the video have close to no text its all in-world
I would fucking adore a game where I could make a town and walk around in it.
Man I played Township Tale like a year ago and even back then when it barely worked it was great. Figuring out how things worked and teaching it to new players was a really fun experience. Might get back into it now that it looks way more fleshed out.
Getting an Oculus Quest on launch day, excited. My only experience with VR is PSVR, and all the reviews and videos I've seen for the Quest sound great.
My PC isn't VR capable, which is why I passed on the Rift S But excited for wire free VR
Tomorrow I'm meeting with EKTO VR to check out their pretty unique approach to infinite treadmills for VR locomotion -- without the treadmill. If I'm allowed to take pictures or video footage and share them with y'all, I will!
It's a great machine. What's your IPD though? Works best between 61.5mm-65.5mm IPD.
I was surprised how nice the community tends to be, had a lot of fun giving free soup to strangers
Even though it's still very unfinished there's already enough well polished content to make it feel like a proper game rather than just a prototype
