yeah, we're not going to be pushing full 4k per eye at all times when our eyes themselves aren't looking.
Just having that resolution for pixel density where we are looking and reduced SDE is good enough for me.
It's a shame StarVR is dead. While the lenses were pretty crap the field of view and built in eye tracking were great. I hope Pimax lives up to the hype.
Pimax is a Gen1.5 stopgap however well they do, any actual innovation/progress is going to come from Gaben and Oculus.

So Rock Band decided to make osu! VR.
Very hype, looks fun.
Hope they'll add beatmap making, that's kinda essential for music based games.
As someone that has a 1st gen headset and a Pimax I'd have disagree with that. The Vive feels super outdated after using the Pimax and makes you wonder how we were ok with the that small of a FOV in the 1st place . Valve will maybe come out with something innovative hopefully but Oculus looks like they are going backwards and trying to go for the lowest common denominator.
You can argue how they're going backwards, but it does kind of make sense for them to be pushing standalone headsets. If more people without higher end PCs get into VR, it will push more to get those those kind of setups and stop seeing it as just another gaming peripheral. Developers will take it more as a new platform rather than a niche market, there will be more funding and data for those next generations of hardware, having more people interested in VR will benefit everyone.
Shadow Legend VR RPG Releases On Rift And Vive Feb. 21
Shadow Legend releasing soon
Oh for sure, having them focus on cheap standalone headsets will help the industry grow and I'm glad their doing it. Its just as someone that already is in the echo system, its hard for me to care about anything their planning to release when all I want is to have the most immersive experience possible.
Ordered an Oculus Rift and a third sensor. Can't wait to play on it! I do have an interesting question though. My alienware laptop has only 2 USB 3.0 ports. Is there an external USB 3.0 hub that I can get that won't mess with the tracking of the sensors?
The third sensor should be run on USB 2.0 anyway.
Hmm. My issue is that it only has those two ports to begin with, period. I'll have to set it up and see if there are any issues that arise from using a USB hub, much as it pains me.
Does the laptop support VR?
this might end very awkward
What laptop do you even have?
I ran my Rift on a laptop (GTX 1060 6GB) for almost a year with no noticeable issues. I had the headset plugged directly into the laptop and the 3 sensors into a hub. You might have a few stutters with tracking here and there, but not often enough to really take away from the whole experience.
Alienware 15R3. Has a 1070. It'll play VR no problem. Just annoying that it has only 2 USB ports.
It looks like it might have USB C, which means you can just get a USB C hub. I'd put the front two sensors into the regular USB ports, then put the rear sensor, the headset and any other accessories you have into the hub.
Your laptop should have two USB C Ports, one is a Thunderbolt port.
Each one can be adapted to a regular USB 3 port
Your alienware should have come with a small paper instructing how to set it up with VR and what adapter they recommend. I know mine did.
Dell even sells an adapter specifically to do that.

Do you guys think a my specs are good enough for WMR?

Meets the very minimum requirements, the graphics card is what really needs an upgrade. You will be able to use VR with this but expect a lot of reprojected frames instead of native 90fps.
Oh okay, thanks! I'll be looking into a graphics card upgrade soon.
An RX 580 would also work pretty well.
How much are you planning to spend on a headset? You may be better off just getting a better graphics card right now and waiting on a deal on the Odyssey+ or see if Valve decides to release their headset anytime soon.
I got a deal on an Odyssey for 200$ from a friend. Also I'm not just getting myself a headset I'm getting my brother one too. So I can't afford to get another card. I only have 400$.
Hey I was looking around and found an RX 580 4gb for $105. Is that a good deal? I'm not good with computer parts.
Probably better off looking for an 8GB RX 580 if I'm honest.
That being said, if you're using an Oddysey, I think you're better off looking at a GTX 1070, an RTX 2060, or a RX Vega 56/64, due to the increased resolution.
I cant afford that. My brother has a RX 580 and did benchmarking for VR and got some good scores. This is with the inputted Samsung Odyssey Display.

For some reason the benchmark said his graphics card is a 480 but its a 580 8 gb.
The RX 580 is a rebranded RX 480 anyway
But get the 8GB variant. 4GB is probably not going to be enough for some games to run fluently.
