Linkus gonna get banned for making that white girl pumpkin spice comment.
Most of the Ratchet and Clank couch are from the Jak run and it shows.
Makes me wonder how much of the Jak and Ratchet communities crossover.
Very much. Though that applies to the casual fans too.
They're the Crash and Spyro of the PS2 era so it actually makes perfect sense.
I only watched for a little over 2 hours, but yeah the "kaboom" stuff grew old extremely fast.
It sounds like they kept doing for almost the entire run, which is a shame because I'd otherwise like to go back and watch the vod later on.
Any time I see a run that's over an hour I get kinda wary, but anything over 2 hours I just skip honestly, I've tried but no run has ever kept my interest beyond that
For me it depends on the game, but in most cases those 2+ hour runs just become background noise after a while. Unfortunately I doubt I'll be watching the remainder of the WWHD run, I'd rather not hear "KABOOOOOOM" every forty seconds. It's a little disappointing since I normally enjoy watching longer Zelda runs.
There's an Any% Vice City run coming up in a couple of hours, it's run by kz_frew. He ran it 2 years ago, and it was such a entertaining run, after watching it, I realized why people like streaming and started watching the guy (begins at 16:00)

Review: A really solid run of a great game. Glitches are more about frequent, skips of fairly small sections, or constantly-used speed tech, rather than outright game-breaking, and the commentary was among the best of AGDQ19.

Review: Severely hampered in the fun department by both technical difficulties, and a reasonable need for quiet. Run invalidated, too many deaths forced a switch from "all zones in a row" to "one zone at a time". Can't really fault the runner for failing, this category is impossible, but it probably shouldn't have been run.

Review: Orb! Cloud! Cloud! Diamond! Orb!
Recommended watching: Celeste, Mega Man X trilogy, Cuphead, Doom/Doom2.
Llama is getting all of the bad luck during that Diablo 2 run.
Didn't get the Eth rune in the Tower, terrible map layouts, third way Sorceror, Diablo trolling him and spamming lightning, it just goes on an on.
RIP Divinity 2 run. Hopefully the runner doesn't knock himself too hard, sometimes runs just don't work out.
Dime's a great streamer in general even when not speedrunning.
Shades of Enter the Gungeon from last SGDQ. Absolutely great commentator and couch, run fucked over by the game.
kz_frew puts on some entertaining runs, and so far he's doing great with VC.
A friend and I watched this at the same time while talking on Discord and honestly we weren't hugely into it despite being huge fans of the series. It's just like a standard GoldenEye run, but with less looking at the floor and a lot of damage boosting thanks to co-op on easy. It's a shame the commentary wasn't super interesting either.
Though that bit where they fucked off because that level is basically an autoscroller for a bit was fun.
I can recommend watching the Vice City run by kz_frew, very entertaining to watch.
Gengar being called "Jenjar" is a new one.
As part of the TASbot run they've set it up so you can play Scribblenauts via voting for multiple options via Twitch chat, but they made the options way too fucking small for anybody to possibly read so if you didn't catch them reading it out you're fucked.

All I can think of when one of these longer streams appear during GDQ is the ending part of this Mega64 skit (which itself is making fun of the event!)
Ban all RPGs except Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG pls
A bit weird to have a let's play in the middle of a arathon but I guess they have to fill the (American) night with something.
Whenever they do an absurdly long run like this, please keep in mind just how many dozens of games they reject every GDQ and then give this game a nine hour block to itself.
The Star Wars Episode 1 run was actually really good.
imagine gatekeeping speedrunning because it's an rpg.
a video game is a video game.
9 hours to finish ff9 is absurdly quick, not to mention the amount of routing it takes as well as well as optimal menuing.
Fuck off with this 'gatekeeping' shit. It's a boring as fuck run, just like virtually every 3+ hour run.
you're no better than a kotaku commenter.
I still think that GDQ should have some kind of secondary stream. Other events have it and it'd mean that there's a place for absurdly long JRPG runs because you could just switch over and watch a game that isn't 95% mashing through text and menuing.
coolmatty has answered why they don't do a second stream on reddit and it's because the size of the operations is too big. they'd essentially be doubling their budget to get a second stream going (his words, not mine).
just based on the cable management at previous gdq's, it's no wonder they don't want to do it.

I guess it depends what you want from a run, I prefer short-ish runs (30m-1hr) which give you enough to learn the game and it's quirks, get some input from the runner/couch and appreciate the game itself even if I've never heard of it.
What some people seem to want from these longer runs is background noise, a less involved experience where you're not paying attention to it all the time, and I guess if you want that, 9 hours of the same game will certainly give you that.
