haha i wanna try it too ahem "tf2 is dead xddd"
I wish Valve would just speak to us for once. If they plan on ending updates they should just say so. All this waiting is just making things worse.
I think the most frustrating thing is that it's obvious TF2 is still financially viable. This isn't a case of "we know the community loves it, but we're a company and the game just isn't making money anymore", it's regularly doing better numbers than shit like Artifact and even an update as relatively small and simple as last Halloween still did gangbusters when it came to crates and keys and whatnot. It's not as popular as it once was, so I understand Valve not supporting it nearly as much; that makes perfect sense. Expecting updates as large and as frequently as we used to get them during the early 2010's (Uber Update, Pyromania, MvM, etc.) is a pipe dream, we're never getting back to that level of support because TF2 is an old fucking game that has more than fulfilled its purpose in the eyes of the company that published it, and that's fine. The annoying thing is how we know so much about TF2's development (they've basically got a skeleton crew, the Heavy Update IS coming, etc.), yet they insist on staying silent. Talking to the community, even if it's to deliver bad news ("guys, we're gonna be honest, we haven't even started pre-production on the Heavy Update yet"), would greatly increase goodwill as it's done in the past. It's presumptuous and entitled to think "well why aren't WE involved in the dev process???", but they could at least give us some sign of life. We all knew we'd end up in a retirement home someday, but it'd be nice if they called once in a while, rather than just showing up for an hour on Christmas and Mother's Day, you know? It's frustrating that a game that's done as much for Valve as TF2 (I'd wager it's far more profitable than Portal, Half-Life, and Left 4 Dead at this point) is constantly ignored and poorly managed. I'm one of the few people who loved Jungle Inferno, warts and all, just because it reminded me of the old days when TF2 Updates were a real "don't plan on seeing the sun at all this weekend" style event, so I don't want to give the impression I'm bitter or spoiled in asking for more... but fuck me, the last comic came out two fucking years ago. You're one of the biggest names in modern gaming; maintain your schedule, manage your staff, and get your shit together.
Then again, seeing how awfully bad artifact's performance turned out to be, one wonders if its for the best that valve does little to nothing to TF2. If this is truly how valve is nowdays, i'd rather have them be silent and stay away from my baby.
You know how they never said that Episode 3 is canceled? That's why they're never going to say that TF2 development is officially over, either. Valve, unlike most corporations, has learned that if you say nothing, people might hold onto hope that you'll eventually do something to please them. Blatant PR doublespeak gets them nowhere, as does actually telling the truth. So they stay silent and continue milking their fanbase's hope that Saint Gaben will eventually bring good tidings and joy to all gamer-kind.
can confirm. my baby died with the gas passer
I still like to hope the reason we end up at Asteroid and Cactus Canyon is to hunt down Sniper's real parents. I know it won't happen but it'd be nice to see some continuity like with the Halloween comics.
dont let yourself be fooled, jungle inferno was VERY MUCH an update the majority of the community loved. You aren't "one of the few people".
I don't play online or offline card games, but from what I've gleaned Artifact is fact not a terrible game. It's an at least okay, if overly complex card game that takes place in the Dota2 universe. The primary (if far from only) problem with it is the absolutely INSANE monetization model. It's P2W, P2P and P2P some more. Valve became so blinded by their own greed that the ruined a game that may have been successful otherwise. This reeks to me of managerial malfeasance. I doubt the Artifact devs had the final say about the game's business model. I think the real problems with the game arise from the unchecked-to-the-point-of-self-destructive of the "barons" of Valve's flat company structure. The fish rots from the head.
Something's up with Source 2 in Artifact. They just fixed the game pausing when the Steam overlay is up, afaik no GoldSrc or Source game ever had this issue.
This is why I picked up a hobbie outside of TF2 that I could enjoy while waiting. It keeps the downtime in between updates to be a minimal problem at best.
Oh, that reminds me. Why did C.Heavy shrivel up when the Life-Extender was pulled out of him? I mean, he had the exact same amount when he put it on, and he didn't get it from the Australium itself, so why? Was there an explanation I missed?
I think phlog overstayed its welcome. people long figured out you couple it with uber and it becomes braindead mass destruction. at this point it is a literal griefing tool
then again, the problem isnt the phlog, the problem is that it gains charge from flares.
As I have said before, no weapon except for the Manmelter and the Phlog itself should build mmph. I'd make a possible exception for the SVF because that thing is fantastically useless.
i def feel this is the mentality to take. Working on projects have been keeping me hapily sustained, and def makes the times inbetween very doable. If ya'll are looking for a good substitue game for when youre tf2 burned out, i would suggest Dead by Daylight, as it has content drops pretty frequently like the early days of TF2 and has a strong developer community communication. The game started out reallllyyyy bad, but the communication with the community has changed it so much in a better way it's very refreshing to have, but more importantly should give u some fill before the next tf2 update, as well as give you hope for tf2.
wouldn't fix the rape with uber. it's not like the 260 hp pyro with game sense magically vaporizes before he's charged, he still got a decent flamer to use.
Honestly the Manmelter is a "what do we do with this" weapon since the idea is cool; an extinguishing weapon for gaining crits. My issue with it is that it is so situational that it requires: A Cow Mangler Soldier spamming Charged Shots or a Pyro. Teammates who are actively on fire. Being near teammates who are actively on fire. I'd say that even if the weapon instantly reloaded when it successfully hits an enemy, it'd still be pretty bad.
let's be real here. Pomson and Manmelter should've been Bison reskins from the start. not only that's a popular demand as people love bison but it would've avoided such a cargo load of shit throughout the ages.
im working to do animations cuz one thing it needs is a reload animation to better indicate when you can fire again, as the click sound doesnt do it. I think that, and removing the arc would be perfect, as it is already very nice to have it's faster projectile speed. I've been using it a lot the last few weeks to gather thoughts on improving it, and they def did well with the extinguish principle to make it very fun and unique, but i think it's arc makes it feel like a lower alternative if the opposite team isnt running 3 or more pyros. ALSO they need to fix the bug where the flame extinguish goes off when you fire a crit shot, that's a major bug it has right now as well.
I think there's a lot of potential in an official version of VS Saxton Hale, even if they make it the Yeti or something.
If they stayed away from your baby, your baby would have have remained deathly ill with Sandmanitis.
Soldier is really the only shotgun-using class who wouldn't get very much out of a Bison/Bison reskin, it's too similar to his primary. Bison at its worse state for Pyro or Heavy would be more useful than Bison at its best for Soldier
its very fun to use, as well as having a purpose. Its meant to use with the cowmangler, and after u use a charge shot, it's ur second weaker cow mangler beam, however offers its own use as well as being a fun escapist punisher, and just all around so satisfying to kill with. I think they may need to minorly buff its damage or projectile speed to make it more reliable, but still overall in a pretty okay place at the moment, i love it.
no it is not. Bison works best with other launchers, and Shotgun works best with mangler respectively in order to mitigate both of their building weaknesses.
i suppose depends on your playstyle, but bison was def meant to be an option with the cowmangler, but still work on it's own if not.
I tend to use panic attack / reserve shooter with the cow mangler. Just for the quicker switch to speed to finish off targets hit by the alt fire. I don't tend to use it to snipe enemies like most mangler users.
Overdesigning seems to be an unfortunate trend these days, not just in character design, but in everything.
I am still surprised they actually made Tracer wear crocs.
I can't believe they still have whoever designed these hairpieces on the payroll. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/249352/499e3394-ae9c-432a-9559-7bc76f08c80d/image.png
