Two things, once he repeatedly banned a pubstomper Soldier from a Mannpower game (taking Mannpower seriously wat) and the second time he kicked a person for merely pretending to hack as Sniper by flailing their mouse around after shots.
was that riller??? i remember the Mannpower thing, but was that Riller?????? I think i will still shell out hope for the TF team
No, that was Dario Casali, another big name veteran.
Woops
Just what we need. More tournament medals. I went through a list of every .mdl file in the game and I believe I've got a final # of .mdl files in the game that are for tournament medals. I left out any medals that weren't for actual tournaments (i.e. Heart of Gold, etc). Here's the list. In total, the list has 2,162 lines, each one is 1 model. 2,000+ models just for medals. Jesus. I haven't gone through the list to figure out how many cosmetic models aren't tournament medals to get an idea of how many there are in comparison though. While going through the list, I noticed two things. First off; models\workshop\player\items\scout\dec16_electric_twanger\dec16_electric_twanger.mdl Great nod to Twisted Sister. YOU'RE WORTHLESS AND WEAK! YOU DO NOTHING! YOU ARE NOTHING! YOU SIT IN HERE ALL DAY AND PLAY THAT THICK, REPULSIVE, ELECTRIC...TWANGER! I CARRIED AN M16 AND YOU...YOU CARRY THAT, THAT, THAT...GIT-TARR! Secondly; I discovered that Valve have previously added several medal items to the game for some rando community MvM server called "Potato's MvM server". Example being this Canteen Crasher medal that was awarded if you got 1 point on their server. Obviously the points would be created and tracked via a SourceMod plugin sending queries to an SQL database of some description. So what this tells me is that if you make a neat enough custom thing for MvM (or some custom gamemode) and use SourceMod to track points and shit and also design your own medals, any random community server with any amount of players can get their own shitty medals added to the game. Part of me wants to ask what happened to quality control on which items get accepted to the game, but the other part wants to make some really popular gamemode and create the ugliest god damn medal the game has ever seen just to see if Valve would add it to the game.
potato is the leading MvM community and has been so for quite a few years so you'll take those mean words back mister.
they weren't meant to be mean (i edited my post)
what the fuck, to literally all of this
Was zum Teufel indeed.
Christ.
I'm convinced that the slow load issues in tf2 is caused by the fuck ton of unnecessary medals piling up in the game would it be most data efficient if the medal are swapped by a one single "medal", or a hologram projector, that projects a particle that looks like a medal? not every medal should be changed like that, but I think most of them are better like that
I mean there's probably as many models for non-medal cosmetics as there are medals. The game has to precache them all. And I think there are numerous ways they could handle the medal thing. They'd just need the logic in place to know which players are supposed to have which medal(s) from whichever tournament(s).
Here's a rework for ya'll lemme know how you like it: 3rd Degree:-30% damage, Crits on players Overhealed Phlog: Alt fire shoots a small ranged short cirucit(first iteration) blast that destroys projectiles. Every projecitle destroyed fills Mmph meter. Afterburn has more potent effect (healing does nadda until extinguished or damage output is reduced or afterburn lasts longer or afterburn deals more damage, ill let ya'll debate, i like the stronger damage) but the extra effects of afterburn ticks drain Mmph meter. :P
the only thing the mannmelter needs is pasive reload.
it doesnt already? man that's an oversight...
um all flares do that
Manmelter should fire in straight line and have some faster fire rate so it goes pew pew pew pew
exactly. Manmelter has one of the most untapped potentails in the game
Would the crit damage affect the medic healing the individual, or would the medic take a measly 20ish damage? Or would the hits players connected via beam not exist anymore, making the weapon pretty much useless?
it has no niche as a flaregun and it wouldn't have any as yet another laser/hitscan monstrosity. make it a bison reskin.
i think it would be a damage increase still by a large amount, i was thinking it should be somewhere like 115 damage or something, as its meant to take out the overheal and prime them for a second normal damage hit. The medic and the overhealed would take the crit damage; players connected via beam would still exist
The electric twanger the scout guitar has been in the game for ages The canteen medals are themed and provided incentive for most of tf2's 2018 content to be created period- entirely from the community. As someone who designs tournament medals myself, this post is a bit of a brain bomb thinking emoji one for sure. ASIC is that you ;_;
It has the niche of being the only non-primary to be able to extinguish teammates. No.
Apparently fixing a massive issue mac and linux players have been complaining about for some time now isn't worth mentioning Imagine being so entitled you're upset over an update because it didn't affect you
No, I'm not ASIC. I'm someone else.
I think, they need to do the same thing they did with cars in Left 4 Dead: just have two-three models and several textures. That’s all. I’m also sick of medals, although I haven’t been playing this game for like... half the year.
um okay. that's not worth a weapon slot.
i just wanna know if the medals take up space or hinder performance, cuz if theres no penalties for adding infinite amounts of medals, power to them. I just hope its not a "well we are about done with tf2, so might as well dump these in till its all over for good"
Yes, they take up space. Space on your hard drive. Hinder performance? Nobody even wears them so....no? Thing is they're not just dumping stuff in. They've denied items for community events in the past. I recall reading something...somewhere? (probably here)...somewhat recently...about some group trying to get a medal or something in for some contest that was similar to something that Reddit did I think? And I guess Valve said no despite both things being incredibly similar? I can't remember. Either way, they are either playing favorites with whose submissions they let in (for community event medals, specifically, not workshop content) or...well I can't explain why that group couldn't get their own medal in if Potato's can and Reddit can and all these other tournaments (some of which weren't really publicized that well to my knowledge) can.
Until the Phlog or the 3rd Degree gain the ability to extinguish teammates, it's fundamentally important that the Manmelter be able to do so. What's needed is a way to make the Phlog and Manmelter synergize MORE not LESS. WM1 phlog pyros need encouragement to be better teammates, not worse. Also, there's a not insubstantial number of players with strange Manmelters who coughed up for Strange Part: Allies Teammates Extinguished. They're gonna be mighty pissed if that part is now useless. At the risk of repeating myself ad nauseum: only the Manmelter and the Phlog itself should build mmph. The Third Degree could probably use a rework, but it's not a pressing issue. In spite of the fact that it's a straight upgrade over stock, it's still UP because it's not any of Pyro's other, better utility melees. Maybe damage from it could build mmph as well. Also, as an aside, why TF is the weapon not called the "Mannmelter" with two Ns? Seems so obvious to me.
