duh, I know. They scrapped the shit for a reason. I'm just saying that theoretically, if they wouldn't be scraps, they are likely sitting on an entire major update, maybe two.
is tf2 updates are managed by an AI that thinks its a game developer?
You make a fair point, but what about bug fixing - especially with a game like tf2?
You should also remember that scrapped content isn't always cut for objectively valid reasons. Sometimes--many times--content will be cut due to subjective evaluations of quality or suitability, and those decisions aren't always in service of a better product.
Still can't believe we could have gotten an entire Spy vs. Engie update. The posters added in Smissmass 2013 also hinted at some grand plans. I wonder what happened at TF2 team which resulted in cancelling all of those.
i miss old team fortress 2.. Nowadays, not even game in trouble like artifact: the dota card or team fortress 2 with rubbish update about pyro.
Thing is, if they were both getting new weapons, I wouldn't trust valve to not give each of them at least one blatantly OP item that breaks the damn game. Spy got TWO of them in his first update, and we're still suffering from the Dead Ringer to this day. And it took them ages to nerf the Gunslinger to the point that equipping it didn't turn Engineer into fucking Axton the Commando from Borderlands 2. Most of the stuff planned for the update ended up being in Gun Mettle, so I'm going to assume whatever weapon ideas they had ended up being tossed. If they were bad enough that Valve tossed them, they must have been Big Bomb or Facestabber level of god-awful.
Christ, if there's more over-exaggeration, I have yet to see it. Even Tomigruvich, which was easily one of the most OP loadouts ever in its time, isn't as OP as what you're making Dead Ringer and Gunslinger sound like.
I've honestly wouldn't have minded dueling revolvers that dealt more damage to the enemy using the same weapon.
That's a tradeback for getting new content. Nothing can be 100% perfect and balanced.
in about 15 minutes the event is starting soon, hope i see you in the server. 188.165.207.20:27024
It looks like there's a new wave of catbots or whatever they were called https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/956354469473092733/089A6FD69C37C5A74A616C6BDD4D1E1C458038C0/ Bunch of aimbotting bot snipers kept us pinned down quite nicely - and manjaro user seemed to take a liking to it, spawncamping for the added effect to "help catbots stomp us".
What if the gunslinger worked like Overwatch's reworked Torbjörn? Throw a grenade-like projectile a short distance, wherever it lands the sentry is built.
Alright now we can start proper our koth event, join the server lads. steam://connect/188.165.207.20:27024
report 'em and move on, we'll see if the problem is big enough to force a reaction out of the tf team
Event over,thanks for joining.
exactly why does gunslinger need that sort of buff
There's only really two things I'd ask for if a Gunsligner is to get buffed... First one is to remove knock back completely on the sentry, making it a little bit more difficult to find where it's shooting from. With knock back, you notice what direction you're being pushed then look in the opposite. The other one is more of a buff to Engineer, like the +25 health. I was wondering if we could get slightly better movement speed for Engineers running the gunslinger. Since Gunslinger was designed more based around ninjaneering and a more offensive style this could be a good push in the right direction.
looks like Delfy finaly lost it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60SIJqpFhag
I'm actually Tabuu132 on reddit, and according to that video I'm the guy who killed SiN. My bad, guys.
Feels like a dude trying to stroke his ego because he got infamous for posting exploits without a clear intent of posting them so the devs become aware of them. Sounds like a real delight of a guy.
do u guys remember that email VNN got about depending on how Jungle Inferno goes will determine the future of if tf2 gets any big updates? I'm wondering if thats the mentality TF is adopting
You named yourself after the Subspace Emissary boss?
aaaaaaaaaahhhhhh whoever spread this stupid rumor needs to be randomcritted 5 times in a row that was speculation on his part, NOTHING official like that was said from valve, one ought to be insane to think valve would openly talk about stopping development on a game
Good video, but the point that he is making valve work faster is still cringy and stupid.
The mini-sentry would need to be even more weak and disposable. Something like it can't be repaired or its ammo and health are tied to the same value so that it slowly destroys itself as it shoots. The Gunslinger is already fine, if maybe a little bit annoying, and Engineer being able to deploy a sentry without at all exposing himself (dropping it down from a ledge, throwing it in front of a doorway) is a little too powerful, even for the short throw like Torbjorn has.
That delfy video and the people praising him in the comments like hes some sort of tf2 jesus makes feel disgusted
Since we're talking about engi I thought I'd write a few of my thoughts too I think the engineer in general needs to move away from sentries because sentries are one dimensional and largely impossible to balance, thanks to the fact you're essentially dealing with an object and the player can be assumed to play perfectly since engi requires little mechanical skill in terms of building/repairing the sentry. I don't expect many people to agree, and obviously its absolutely way too late for this, but: Unpopular opinion: engineer should have been the one to get auras instead of soldier I understand there are actually people who enjoy current engineer and I'd never want to take that away from them, but I just feel like if engi had gotten gadgets which are the current horn equivalents, and been 165 hp, that just would have been great for 2 reasons A. engi would be insanely fun and would actually interact with the team B. I don't think the whole banner thing even fits soldier. It's really good thematically, but the fact is you're incentivising a class where the whole fun part is to fight people and rocket jump at people to stay alive. Banners are woefully underused in pubs, the only time you ever saw people using it was BB Conch. Why? Because BB Conch is the only banner set where you're still actually able to give people the business because you got so much healing. Nobody uses it anymore because the black box is awful now, and everyone else is avoiding the rest because it isn't fun to sit back and spam, and actually taking fights is avoided because you don't want to drop your banner and you also can't rocket jump away because you just lose all your health immediately. Soldier doesn't even have any good matchups without gunboats/shotgun. I mean sure you can frag bad players but I mean if you walk into a 1v1 against a scout or pyro chances are you're going to lose that. you can't even gap close against demos which is like the number one soldier food. Banners are flat out bad and boring unless you have a pocket medic. Engi fits thematically, because he could just have a generator gadget wrench thing and that works out ok enough. Engineers actually are already incentivised to be alive, so you're playing a valid and fun sidegrade class. Engis could potentially build banner by not only doing damage, but also healing, for instance he could have a regen field that boosts speed on full charge to replace the conch (to be totally clear, I think having alternate healing methods to medics would be very healthy for the game.) Engineers have a way wider set of objectives than soldiers do which allows much more room in design. Right now we have this shit 'make engi a dm class' with the gunslinger, and what's ended up happening is that the gunslinger turns out to not even fulfill that because the sentry is pretty much unusable in fights at this point. Who would have thought that the ability to plop down a sentry that actually functions would be imba due to sentries, once again, being 1 dimensional and op against bad players? Of course it was nerfed. At this point gunslinger is essentially just 'get up a fast mini sentry' for your nest, because it's just too bad for actual fighting as you don't actually have any tools to fight them with. Usually the sentry has 0 impact unless you pre-build it, and then it's kind of like well what do you expect of course you''re going to lose a fight to an engi if you run into a sentry. It's not something the gunslinger achieves as such. It gets to a point where you just have to realise that any class which is 'fat scout' based is never going to be a valid DM class, which is the exact same reason I push back on a 'super shotgun' of any type for heavy. Fat scouts will always take less skill because it's less movement based AND less aim based. Where is the skill requirement coming from? On soldier it comes from the rocket jumper. On engi it comes from pretty much nothing. That's why the gunslinger was bullshit when it was actually good, because it just allowed shit players to win fights against you by forcing you out while requiring less skill. A world where a "DM Wrench" instead had +40 hp, no sentry and a cool aura mechanic works because it ACCEPTS that fat scout is comparatively unskilled and it works with it. It says ok, take this less good class, and if you do make it work, here's your reward. Even if you haven't got insane aim, here's you on the front lines actually contributing in an interactive way and the skill requirement comes in because you're also playing mini medic, whereby because you're being focused the movement is more important. That's how you get the increased skill requirement. The idea of playing a class that falls somewhere below the lines of most classes aiming and falls somewhere around below medic/scout importance of movement is pretty ok. It wouldn't be the most skilled class but at least it would require team co-ordination, some aim, some movement, and brain. Idk your thoughts, but to me it just seems like so much better of a solution than the gunslinger was and I really feel like auras are such a good concept in team games but they're SO BAD right now they're literally not even good in 6s where they are far more powerful
dispenser and tele need to have the same build time as sentry. Like real bad. Always did. engi inventory also needs to be more customizable, like being able to give up rockets on LvL3 for a little something else. Or dispenser / tele for other bonuses.
soldier has auras because he's a pushing class auras on soldier force team pushes if heavy or engi had them they'd enforce stalemates because those aint pushing classes
