TF2 General Chat & Speculation Station V15 - Buff Pyro plz

Personally as much as I hate the mini sentry I wouldn't mind it being buffed.
If, and it's a big fucking IF, they nerfed a couple things.
For starters, it shouldn't be able to be repaired, it's a throwaway sentry for quick area-denial or assisting in combat.
And secondly, add the turn speed penalty normal sentryguns have.
This alone is why I hate fighting mini-sentry, strafing around it is just that bit more unsafe just because it can still rotate speedily to hit you. Regardless if you're out of its line of vision.
Funnily enough, this video got quite a few users of the TF2 sub-reddit back on Delfy's side. Good to know whining can flip the tables like that.
r/tf2 is a shithole
You remember the time* before Valve fixed the hitbox on the mini sentry? Those were good days ...not. I am two minds about Engie: The first is, fuck Scouts. Fast Boston Boy needs MORE things that counter him, not fewer. On the other hand, Bordeno last. Or any other payload map last, but especially Borneo.
It mystifies me why the mini is repairable, but every since that change I've switched from pair the Gunslinger with an FJ to a Rescue Ranger.
*September 10, 2014 Patch
Fixed Mini-Sentry collision hull and hitbox being scaled smaller than they should be.
valve consistently failed to figure out the real concerns about the mini sentry. I don't know how many changes they done to the mini throughout the years that ultimately did nothing, like 8-9?
step a. You take the combat sentry as it was designed in engineer update
step b. You make it as large as level 1 sentry
it is done
Jesus the amount of people in the comment section playing Delfy off as a guy who did absolutely nothing wrong and him being in the right is mind boggling. The guy gets so much hate because back then he would make a bunch of exploit videos at around/over the 10 minute mark to rake in the ad revenue, and claim that he's doing this so he can "make Valve work faster", when in actuality it's people like/actually sigsegv helping Valve fix said exploits instead of him. All he was really doing is getting people to do said exploits as an attempt to get Valve to notice it. Sure, there's the point that there was other people who uploaded the exploits like the infinite Heavy one before him, but it feels like he's trying to use them as a shield to say "Hey these guys did it too so why do I get more hate than them?". While sure those people are practically promoting it as well he's the one who, from my knowledge, has been doing this stuff for years so one video compared to the rest of his shouldn't excuse him. I haven't even finished the videos but for me I'm just getting vibes of that one video of KEEMSTAR exclaiming "Why am I still getting so much hate?"
I think the mini sentry is fine now. You can't just drop it in front of someone for a free kill or distraction since it doesn't self heal on build anymore, but it's not paperthin during contrsuction since it starts with 50 health so a stray bullet from across the map won't kill it. Its fairly low health means some classes can one shot it, and otherwise it's not strong enough to stop a push on its own. Being repairable or being able to refill ammo is generally pointless anyways since a good Engy is just going to build another one if it gets low since it's cheaper and quicker to do that and changing its location helps keep it from getting destroyed and can nab some more kills from unaware players.
Generally most problems I see with Engineers are due to stacking them. It's a lot harder to delete a sentry nest if there's three of them covering each other's blind spots, and it doesn't help that pubs' first thought to destroy nests is "Spy" and not "Demoman" or "Medic" so you get four wasted team slots making it even harder to push.
the self regen was only strong vs stranded classes like scout or pyro. it got blown out of proportions while the real culprit is the size (which was even smaller back then).
combat sentry is still supposed to sidegrade a level 3 in a way. it can't not be "good".
maybe it would speak better to the disposable nature if the minis had reduced ammo to a point where they'll actually run out of ammo somewhat regularly.
my only problem with minis has always been the range, they can lock down huge swathes of open maps too easily
I do actually see heavies push from time to time, at least in casual. But usually only if a medic is attached to them usually... They do look like they wre designed to be a class meant to push forward and tank. Obviously not as well as you'd expect from a "Tank" though like in other games...
Soldiers with banners tend to more often then not like to do their own thing though as well. But it really does depends on the situation over all.
ok, but an engineer with a banner would be far less stalemate inducing than an engi with a sentry and I don't think that's deniable
not to mention, a banner soldier is only pushing in the exact same way either of those other 2 classes are. you don't pop a banner then rocket jump into the enemies because you just die if you do that. by having the banner on a class that IS a pushing class, you're only wasting that classes potential by making it play more defensively. That's my entire point.
yeah, i was getting into the internet during the brawl release era, and post brawl i thought tabuu was the coolest thing ever for a while, so it became my main username
You think they ever finished the last issue of the comic and are just sitting on it?
I doubt they would sit on it since it never shipped with an update before. Has Valve put out a comic for any of their other games recently?
it seems fairly clear that comics are completely out of the question nowadays when they cant even handle basic maintenance and care
So, a few things I kinda wish we had right now in regard to decorated weapons :
A defined script file allowing us to modify the angle/zoom/FOV of the decorated weapon backpack icons (or all weapons if below option is enabled).
The ability to show all weapons using the same procedural-generated method decorated weapons used for consistency.
The ability to "opt-in" to a DLC package of backpack icons for all skinned weapons to replace the procedural-generated ones, for people that don't need them to generate automatically (and so backpack icon creators could have consistent icons for those as well).
The ability to export specific seed and wear combinations of skins to output vmt/vtf files so we could have our decorated weapons in SFM.
At least the first two, because look at the inconsistency of Rocket Launcher icons as an example:

yes well, that's because decorated icons are live models generated on-the-run and the others are baked pictures
Then either they would be useless in situations where you just wanna place one down and leave it, or they wouldn't be any different from right now. Regular sentries have limited ammo to force Engineers to pay attention to them even if they're in a spot they literally can't be attacked in, but mini-sentries are designed to be something you could either focus on keeping alive or something you could just pop up to hold/ward a part of the map.
I like the idea of throwing a Mini-sentry to an area solely because it gives more depth to mini-sentries. It could be argued that skill-gating applies in situations where an Engineer that wants to place a mini-sentry far away or gets caught in a fire-fight without one would rather have the ability to toss it somewhere instead of plinking it down in front of them, but my really only issues with mini-sentries are they they take too long to build to really be disposable right now. It's still hard, even with the Gunslinger n its current state, for Engineer to be anything more than a glorified support class with a very miniscule amount of firepower.
It's probably a personal opinion, but I think finding a good balance between the current build time and the previous build time would be great.
I'd also be all for a nerf to Sentries where the more Sentries in a specific area (maybe 2000 HU?), the less damage they all deal.
legends state not a single sentry has ever ran out of ammo since orangebox release.
it started making sense for MvM though, where this happens extremely often.
To be fair, it's because most Engineers are in a nest
even if you leave it alone, it'll die 8 times before running out of ammo lol
Is that a good thing or a bad thing? In my experience, after 3 kills on most classes, either it needs to be refilled or it'll die.
wait wickedplayer494 is actualy a staff in the subreddit?
Nope sorry, the only sniper counterplay without a charged banner soldier or medic is “hope he misses” and “don’t play the map”.
Such fun and interesting gameplay.
Nothing makes me happier than mulching a bind-spamming FaN scunt with a Direct Hit and having them shrivel up like the coward they are
Or hit them in the face with a direct pipe in the air.
Or leading them around a corner full of sentries.
