That is a solid Valve/10 update right there. I'm glad they're continuing their long history of carefully playtesting their updates.
"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange"
Aight weeb, so what do we give up to get back frequent updates
looks like it says the next update is smissmas 2019
Ah yes, the update that's right before the.... 2020 second End of the Line update?
Which happens shortly after the long-awaited update where Valve finally finishes rd_asteroid and that cactus canyon map.
Don't tempt fate. I ain't going to duel 740 people once again to win a shiny platinum medal.
If dueling got an update to start a new dueling season: Duel rewards could be pretty much anything. I personally think a special reskin with skins based on the color of the dueling win progress would be cool, like a Half-Zatoichi reskin with a bronze, a silver, a gold, and a platinum alt skin. A new hat could be made, really anything besides re-using the medal. Duel options should include a "Current class duel (whatever class you're currently on when you use the duel mini-game or accept it, you're both told what classes you are, and you can't change class)", and the ability to turn assists counting as points on or off
Well, going off the weeb angle, let's do what they did in the manga! Let's convert a town of innocents into fuel for the Philosophers Stone Update Machine.

The big question is, does this count towards the log jammin achievement?
When are they going to put the snakes back in Snakewater?
Why did combo pyro die it seemed to require some skill?
didn't die unless you consider epic puff n sting for 200HP skillful

The confirmation of the Heavy Update release date. They're planning on the update's event dates a year prior. That's amazing dedication.
Daily reminder that Jungle Inferno music was refered to as "gamestartup_event_summer2017" in the game files.
The changes Valve have made to Pyro over the last 5 years have hurt the most skilled players and encouraged a braindead WM1 playstyle. Some things have not changed. The most skilled Pyros in TF2 are "chubby scouts" who use their shotgun (or, recently, the Panic Attack) as their primary method of damage dealing, and switch to the degreaser to reflect projectiles and move enemies back. Valve's approach to the Pyro class has been the opposite of what they should do (reward skilled play, discourage suicide WM1 runs). About the only thing they've gotten absolutely right is the Dec 17 patch that added "Extinguishing a teammate will now return 20 health to the Pyro." (Even if it took them another patch to get that mechanic to work with the Manmelter. That was over three years ago. Since then they've managed to mangle an already broken class in a pretty spectacular fashion. A reminder what high skilled pyros look like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnzRAOkonhg
That means the Heavy Update comes out in Spring 2020. Buckle up, everyone! In Valve time we will be there in a pinch!
that had little to do with skill ceiling and more about the panic attack being the only weapon with fixed spread being able to deal 100 at point blank and having a bonus switch speed.
I still think the old flamethrower was really fun to master (it was pretty much 1:1 aiming medic needles) and mutating it into this JI mess did not help into making it either fun to use or be against.
the issue with lingering flames is probably the only bad element per se for how flames work right now, but in most cases these longering flames will just finish you if you're down to less than 10% of your health, in wich cases anything could kill you. still better than flailing, still better than the old flamethrower. you can now effectively lead targets and and guide the stream to maximize damage (although not in the most efficient way) and kill critboosted phlog pyros without dying, as a pyro.
I hear this alot and yet I could do this perfectly with the old flamer lol. sounds like people were just really bad at it. RTCW, maybe.
I think an interesting mechanic for pyro would be to have afterburn spread to teammates if they touch or get too close to each other. This would punish being in crowds around pyros and create pandemonium when a pyro ambushes.
EricS presumably likes the new flame mechanics and as the TF team's Pyro main, that's what matters.
the issue with that flamethrower is that is based off the M2, something that is mechanically diferent from tf2's. the M2 is a stream of ignited flamable liquid wich you can carefully aim and that lingers on the surfaces that it touches, where tf2's is based of flamable gas.
You didn't lead with the old flamethrower. You held it over your enemy. At most you could generously call it tracking ala Heavy's minigun. I still think KF1's flame spewing nozzle was a better, more interesting design, and as I've said multiple times, the only problem i could see for it not working is that healing is so prevalent that it would just be annoying against long-range Classes not near Medics or health packs for about 5 seconds.
Surely your joking because that's a great way to turn a chokepoint into the no-mans land to end all no-mans land.
not really, at least not more than your daily explosive spam. or you know, the scorch shot's aoe.
