TF2 General Chat & Speculation Station V15 - Buff Pyro plz

if you think that, then you're trying to melee enemies with 100% their hp, and not one hit away from being finished off.
this is exactly the same deal with SMG. It's garbage on healthy people, yet it's one of the best finishers in the whole game.
Thanks everyone for joining the server, next time we will do king of the hill maps
Man I can't run TF2 for shit anymore.
2Fort anywhere else but mid: 40 - 60 fps
2Fort mid during firefight: 10 - 20 fps.
The hell happened? I can't even sustain a firefight anymore due to this constant choking.
Hats and particle effects.
unnecessary clutter like skins and festives are to blame for this. And features like the 3D player model in the HUD.
yet people love this, so valve goes along.
assuming this is a recent issue and you've been using the same system for a while now, I'd recommend you take a deeper look at your system and run monitoring/diagnostics to determine what's causing the issue. severe overheating could very well cause an issue like this, for instance.
They did buff the damage of melee attacks. Remember when it took FIVE melee swings just to kill a Scout without overheal?
Only thing melee needs is to be made more consistent, provided better player feedback, and not get absorbed by teammates.
he likely means the Axe or Crowbar
Are you using a good read-only config? TF2 slowly gets worse fps over time for some reason unless you do so.
mastercomfig is probably the best one so try that
they should just add dodge rolls to melee weapons
Ug... I miss RTCW... I loved playing that game online... That game actually did a lot of aspects well that other shooters genrally suck at. One of the few games were I didn't feel like swapping off my gun to use grenades didn't put me at a disadvantage if the enemy decided to bum rush me, or do like a lot of games now-a-days do where they just assign grenades to a key so you don't have to switch to them at all.
Anywho, when you say before JI do you mean back when the Netcode dramatically effected wither or not your flames registered as hits or miss? I still remember times when I ran Phlog, taunted, and jumped into groups of enemies only to kill 1 or 2 because my flames would just pass through targets and not deal any damage.
Is the iron bomber a viable replacement for the grenade launcher? I'm seeing a lot of comp players use it as well as regular players but it doesn't seem like there's any benefit.
Also what's the consensus on the pyro jetpack? I haven't been playing and I've been out of the loop for a few years. I'll just say I don't really like using it or playing against it.
grenades roll less. You can feasibly set pipe floors like stickies because they have barely any roll if they, say, collide with a wall.
I don't think it's technically "better" in a sense, but more along the lines of just easier to use then the grenade launcher. Maybe in a sense that the pills don't really move and bounce around is better or less situational I guess as well.
the question isn't so much what is the upside, the question is what's the downside and the answer to that is 'occasionally on a few specific holds you can't spam as deep.' it turns out that having the roller in the middle of where you're spamming is pretty much always better than a larger explosion radius that has 90% of the time rolled into a wall, which effectively halves the radius anyway
the upsides are, honestly, fairly minimal but the direct rollers have an impact, when you're fighting someone if you just aim for the feet (which you should be doing because it helps to pop up your foes!) you can actually trap people significantly into more predictable movement arcs, or just hit a free roller on people that mash ad and don't really arc at all, which is basically a free kill sometimes
also, you can pretty much guarantee if you hit a direct in spamming you're probably also hitting a roller, which occasionally just instakills someone.
it's one of those weapons where the downside is basically nothing, and the upside is gonna have an impact maybe twice a game but it's still worth it. it doesn't really mean you can't get away with not using it and you're 100% free to use the stock nades for style points but if you will NOT be optimising ur Fragging Potential
-
speaking of fragging potential I played in the new maps cup today and lost humiliatingly on stream
the up side is that people seem to be interested in new maps again at the moment so that's nice. might try bringing out one of my old maps or EVEN!! make an AD 6s map I've been meaning to try for ages and ages
Iron Bomber is loads of fun and basically replaced the Loch N Load for me.
Jetpack is stupid, but generates salt like a motherfucker if you commit 100% to the "dip in, ambush, dip out" mentality. I like pairing it with the Phlog and the Back Scratcher, it's a blast on maps like Doublecross.
Think it's one of the crosshairs included in toonhud. won't do you much good outside of Facepunch's server/competitive though, since spread is random on valve servers. Also doesn't do him much good for that particular weapon, since Panic Attack's spread is a rectangle
Jetpack was the only reason I started playing as pyro constantly, always been a sucker for vertical mobility through stuff like rocket jumping and trimping (rip tide turner).
the jetpack is the pyro's version of the gunboats, completely trading in the ability to have a weapon for a secondary for vertical movement unmatched by detonator or scorch shot while also needed no damage to be taken to use. (to clarify, the detonator and scorch shot would be like shotguns for a soldier that are worse than stock but reduced your self-damage)
its perfect for flanking, catching up to enemies, and there's a special kind of glory to be found in jet packing over the enemy team as they crash against your team, to distracted to stop you from making their rear guard extra crispy.

2 years ladies and gents
The last time a new comic came out a Democrat was still President, we must wait till 2021 at the earliest.
Other mechanics that will definitely not fit in TF2's melee combat:
Attempting to hit an enemy while they're also swinging at you at the same time blocks your attacks
Gimmick where you can parry by pressing R
Gunslinger's 3 hit crit combo for all weapons
i wonder if they designed the original grenades based on aesthetics or if there was a practical reason they modelled the pills.
the jetpack's design seems like such a departure from all of the other items they've been releasing since launch. the demo shields are still relatively inconspicuous keeping in mind how much they change the role of the character. the thruster on the other hand doesn't change the role all that much but it looks and feels like something from a different game. the build up and motion curves don't feel familiar or intuitive in context of the physics and controls we've been familiar with. it's like when you're playing battlefield and you run into a jet or tank or something with a new control scheme
doom 2016 finishers where heavy actually rips out scout's spine and shoves it down his throat
He can finally punch out all of Scout's blood. Just like the Neet the Sandvich vid.
It's lore friendly!
I finished my pyro jump map, and for its release VAVLIE made a map showcase, have a look!

Can we please keep politics out of my video game about gravel and hats?
the dude posts like 30 trump threads a day, he's saturated
One it's a freaking joke, two it's more like four, three TF2 is an inherently political game and a showcase of how both sides are the same in two-party systems and the meaninglessness of capitalist consumerism.
Maybe he's onto something, though. Valve employees might have needed the "mental health/personal care" break after the traumatizing event of Trump's election.
Not serious, if that wasn't obvious.
Elect a Democrat to President in 2020 to make TF2 great again!
