I have been thinking of combining all the orange box maps in tf2 into a single map but i have been thinking what kind of game mode it would be and if it would be even possible to load other maps into an existing one in hammer.
Arena mode, make it a battle royale
I would think you would hit the engine's hard entity cap before you got too far with that.

tomislav is for heavies who don't want to play heavy, and then get perforated when going up against an actual heavy speaking of miniguns: has anyone tested modding miniguns to fire only 1 bullet, but fire 4 times faster?
I enjoy Tomislav when paired with the Banana, just because then I can play a way more mobile game. But I also freely admit that it's a fucking around loadout. Stock + Sandvich is still the optimal way to play Heavy, hands down. Hot Take, but I don't care for the GRU. I've just been ambushed too many times on my way to the front for a faster rollout to be worth the damage. Would rather get where I'm going slowly (and that's assuming we have no Engies) and be prepared for anything than get there at the front of the pack, only to then have to either get a Medic to top me off, hoover up a bunch of health packs, or just wait for my health to regen before I can actually fight. And that's assuming a Scout, Spy, or Demo didn't slip through the line to catch me at half health without my primary spun-up (and 50% slower holster speed ON TOP of that). Just too many factors for too minimal a reward IMO.
If it were possible, I feel like it would make an awesome capture the flag map, with a 2fort base at each end and the maps arranged so that you have different ways to go. I mean, it would probably be a nightmare trying to pick up and take back the flag (like capture the flag in general), but running with it through all the maps sounds fun
A little late, but I'm a heavy main, and I'm just as pissed that the Caber was nerfed. Of course Demo is my second favorite class, and for a time he was actually my main, so this isn't surprising. I want to be able to alalhu ackbar again as much as anyone else.
because then they go back to 1 shotting medics, and that's the last thing a heavy wants
solution: caber does exactly 125 damage on hit
on the other hand, make demomans equiped with the caber explode when killed, as if they had the bombinomicon equiped.
Psychopath's Caber seems like the best option "Ullapool Caber Explosion damage scales with your remaining health (175 at max, 1 at minimum) This weapon deploys 50% slower This weapon cannot crit under any circumstances" Allows more interaction between the Demo and his opponent, and discourages just running at people for a cheeky 1 shot suicide, while allowing the demo more damage potential if he plays well.
Biggest thing that bothered me about the Caber was that you could hit any surface to detonate the Grenade for full damage. So if you can't hit the target, you can hit the floor and he'll take maximum damage for it.
What I hate, and continue to hate, about the Caber is that it can one-shot Heavies with crits; all that's needed is a minor window of opportunity and a shield.
This seems like a very specific situation...taking random crits out of the equation, it's pretty difficult for a demo to get a full-length charge so if he can do that against a heavy I think it's deserved. After that he's just an injured demoman without a sticky launcher.
If i played heavy constantly i'd have a pretty big beef over the huntsman, not the caber.
I fear cuntsmen far more than I do Snipers wielding any other primary.* On the maps I play I know sniper sight lines, and seldom venture into them when I know there's Hardscoping Long Shoot Man looking at them. The Lucksman, OTOH, operates on my turf and in the range where Heavy is effective. Combine those factors with the bullshitty hitbox and I'm in real danger of getting my giant head pinned to a wall. Over 1000+ hours of being slow and fat, I've probably been cabered a single digit number of times. It's not the kind of death I can get mad about, it's too funny. *I will make the slightest exception for the rare sniper that's good with the Classic. Holy shit those unscoped headshots.
my biggest beefs as Heavy main right now are as follows: Not being able to hear Spies decloak while revving (purely a personal issue) The damage and spread bullshit Vaccinator Medics Any Demo or Soldier worth their snuff being able to rival or outdo my single person damage in half the time it takes me to actually kill them Being a fat fuck with a big truck, taking five years to get anywhere even with new GRU
seems like heavy needs to rely more on his team than some other classes as because of his speed he needs an engi teleporter to reach a fight in time and a medic to help him in fights to offset his slow speed and tendecy to be shot more often due to being a big target.
This is why I don't really understand the Sniper hate on this site. If the Huntsman can genuinely be more threatening at times than actual Snipers, then why do some people here act as though regular Snipers have no counterplay? I only have 335 hours on Heavy, but when I die to a Sniper, I know it's because I was out of position or playing really aggressively. I've never felt like it was unfair. So much of this game is about positioning, and that's especially true for both Heavy and Sniper.
I would absolutely be fine with the caber being an instant suicide. I usually died when I pulled it out anyway, because I used it as a last resort when I was close range and low on health.
Agreed! I know I carry some definite bias, but why would I punch someone with the caber (expecially a Heavy) and escape with a sliver of health when I can just spam them to death from afar? The only thing I personally use the caber/shield for is recently decloacked spies or pyros that has managed to take me by surprise.
... because huntsman doesn't counter play snipers not sure where you're going with this
Gotta disagree with you on that, one of the most effective ways i've found to counter a sniper with better reaction and aiming time than me is a swift spam of bodyshot from the huntsman. Just makes him a hell of a lot less useful at long range because it's harder to hit that arcing projectile at range than a hitscan bullet.
still doesn't change the fact that rifles shit on huntsmen anyday
An issue I have with Heavy is that other classes have been designed to fuck his mouth, while he has gotten almost nothing to improve his purpose of area denial and human tarpit, he's just gotten More Shooty Item. The Sandvich was an incredibly good move in this regard, but shit like the Steak Sandvich is just baffling.
My point wasn't to highlight how threatening Huntsman is, my point was to say you can get better about not dying to regular Snipers. Ultravod seems to have that figured out. Some people act like there's nothing you can do, and that's not a good attitude to have.
Who said I didn't hate the Huntsman more?
yes well, the problem with staying hidden, spamming duckjumps, looking down, looking behind, taking 5 dmg potshots, strafing at odd intervals / stop moving, ducks, is that these all cripple your activity toward the other enemy on the field, and the sniper hasn't done a thing yet. Not only these actions are detrimental, but even if it works, the sniper is likely to have additional tries for free. The worst mistake talented snipers can do is a bodyshot, and that's still -150. If there's no excellent scout/spy/sniper/roamer on your team to keep snipers in check, then sniper can get away with whatever terrible play they do like looking at 1 spot for literal 15 minutes hard scoped. All other classes just get smacked down and punished when played stupidly in such manner. Yes, team fortress, yes, terrible team, I know all of this and yet not everyone can afford competitive.
This is what I wanted removed from heavy right now, nerfing him was the absolute worst choice they did.
