Asking as a Snake main, is C4 considered an unfair move? Just curious about what other people think of it.

Snake is at least very setup focused with his explosives, so I don't really think C4 would be considered unfair.
The only unfair move so far is Inkling's side+B IMO
Luigi's zero to death too but that's not just one move

We were both well above 100% and he was about to kill me on my way down after getting in a good hit, as a last resort I detonated the C4 I'd dropped way earlier that even I'd lost track of and won the game
I know I'd be fucking pissed and I feel kinda dirty so I wanna know if it's generally considered cheap or not lol
It's part of his gameplay design: setting traps and controlling the stage. If you think Ultimate Snake could be considered "cheap", check out PM Snake. His neutral B is a sleep dart.
I get that, though it really hits me sometimes how hard the C4 is to see. Pretty much impossible on a lot of stages. Maybe it's just me

All the talk about Snake and his ability to control aspects of the stage makes me think I'm using him entirely wrong. I wouldn't be surprised - I'm brand new to modern smash and decided to main snake just because.
I try and stay aerial with his Fulton jump and try and pull off hit-and-runs with my dash attack. Then I'll use the guided rockets to try and juggle their recovery if I can.
All I use the C4 for is basically bombing runs. Fulton above an opponent and drop a C4 on them. As you can imagine this is rather unreliable but it does have its uses. Anyone have any tips for how I can improve or at least how I can make better use of the C4 without entirely forgetting about it after placing it?
Grenades can be effective if used right. You can hold onto them and hurl them just as they're about to explode, aim your throws, and hold shield and B at the same time after pulling one out to drop it at your feet like a mini-C4. I'm still trying to really use this effectively as most of the time I just do different combinations of these and hope for the best, but it can definitely restrict your opponent and give you an advantage if you can avoid blowing yourself up.
she doesn't represent a lot of spirits, either, so I didn't realize she was in the game until her Challenger Approaching screen came up

snake's missile launcher is extremely safe to use and the rotation on it is so fast. i really dont think its a fair move
Conversely, there's nothing quite like the triumph of still winning after fucking up and losing a stock right at the start of a match
See if they wanted to add non-lethal weapons to his moveset they should've added the Peace Walker stun shotgun.
Missing a paint roller leaves you incredibly vulnerable.
Most of the 'unfair' moves everyone talks about are only unfair because your character isn't equipped to counter them or has a very clear weakness you just haven't tried yet.
And then there's PK Freeze.
Honestly I haven't actually played against an inkling good enough to make the move feel unfair. I'm just going by how laughably long the bury duration is.
PK Freeze and the Nikita can both go fuck themselves though.
