I made this before going to bed. I'm gonna go to bed now.

What's the general opinion about Melee nowadays? Ultimate is better imo, I have way more control than I ever did in melee, which I always felt was slippery. My only real grievance with Ultimate is how so many of the good characters are fucking swordsmen from fire emblem, not to say that Chrom and Ike aren't fun to play. But I'd pick Falco because I get the impression that playing as any of the FE characters are just going to piss people off.
The only thing I'd be alright on is if you limit the amount of options for "for glory/competitive"
Depends on who you ask really.
There are still people who will always think Melee > everything, simply because that's what they're fully used to, what they grew up with, and it's still pretty big in the esports scene. Even if we got a complete remake or remaster of Melee, these people would still vouch for playing NTSC Melee on original hardware on CRTs, and would probably find faults with the new Melee.
As for me, I just enjoy Smash in general. I really don't have an absolute favorite. I love Melee, but at the same time, I'm also growing tired of it.
It's hard out here as a genuine steve fan
May I ask why? Like, not trying to shit on your opinion but I just don't get the appeal of Steve at all.
It's not polite to go and lie on the internet like that.
Getting conflicting reports, do you have to 100% WoL or just complete it to unlock the menu music options?
I really wish the music options allowed me to set all music to having an equal or zero chance of occuring with a single button instead of going to each slider.
Just so you know GSP means literally nothing so going "oh no you don't want ranked" doesn't really work. 2 people can share the same number as it turns out.
I think it's also bears mention that For Glory had match making as well similar to what we have now- it was just hidden from our eyes which is what a lot of people like me want. If I see a number ticking up or down it doesn't matter how useless or unimportant it is, I get competitive and it makes me not want to rematch if I lose because "oh no my points I don't want it to go down even more."
It's dumb but it does pour some extra salt in the wound if you lose and you have to watch it tick down then get told "you're not in elite anymore lol sucks to suck"
how does "gsp" mean nothing? please
Im all in for an option to hide it for less competitively minded people toh
This has got to be one of the worst implemented Elo systems I've ever seen, if it is actually considered an Elo system at all.
It's like being a fan of the default Mii

not exactly the best example considering hes basically in the game
He's "basically in the game" as a blank slate and/or default that will literally only see use in tourney play because using default miis is faster than making your own.
Yes, it is a good example, actually.
Default Mii at least has animations that aren't awful placeholders that never got updated
no, its really not a good example. theres a pretty big difference between miis and steve. steve being the only real viable rep possibility for the world's biggest game, not to say i would want him in or anything but to look down on someone who does and trying to belittle their opinion is just mean.
i mean, that would make for a pretty funny piranha plant-esque wtf character i wont lie. i never really thought of that. but i dont really see that happening over steve.
WTF would Creeper's moveset be
Up+B: Explode
Down+B: Explode
Side+B: Explode
Neutral B: Explode
Every time you explode you lose a stock, if someone else is near you it's a one hit KO
sounds like a fun character
tbh that does sound pretty fun
