You are using moveset potential as a way to say Creeper isn't possible when Steve uses the exact same animation for every weapon he acquires. He has a swing animation, eat animation, throw animation, and walk animation. And come on his initial skin is meant to be the most boring thing possible because it was intended to be switched for something else. How is this even a question at this point.

The thing is, it's the experience of Minecraft that's interesting, not Steve himself. He's not even really called that, mostly a joke name that Notch gave him. Steve is a blank slate for the player to project themselves onto, what he does mechanically as a player character isn't very interesting. At the very least with someone like Link, who is also a bit of a player expy, he's got innate characteristics and personality to draw from, as well as a variety of actions and moves that come from his games. Steve just swings a pick axe and walks. This isn't meant as a slight towards people who like Minecraft, I'm just saying it's not prime Smash character material.

villager, robin, and corrin are self-projection characters too. heck, villager is the one that legitimately doesn't have a name. why are you being such a dick? did you even read what i posted? what i posted is more than enough proof that his name is steve. its been referenced not only in the game, but official merch as well. are you going to say "alex" isn't the other skins name too? if not, then why would alex have a name and not steve?

I will definitely admit that I came off as quite dick-ish with what I said, but Literally nobody is arguing that his name isn't Steve. That's not even a smash discussion at this point. If somebody is trying to argue that his name isn't Steve (and afaict nobody is), they're an idiot or a brick wall that just wants to argue.

That even says there that Steve was picked as a joke name. Everything about the character was made to be as bland as possible so the person controlling him could replace him with anyone. Regardless of how this is spun Steve is meant to be a bland and boring character.

GSP is a online rank right What if I told you I can raise my online rank by fighting CPU's? What if I told you that me losing a match to someone with a similar score didn't instantly make me worse than 400,587 people? Would you believe me? That would be fucking nutty right? What if I told you that I've seen Ness's in Elite smash that didn't know how their recovery worked so the players there might be less creme of the crop than advertised? Don't be a dickweed my dude. GSP doesn't matter but it can be demoralizing to get stomped and want to scram from losing meaningless points. In the Wii-U version people stuck around for more than one fight most of the time because there was nothing "on the line" Now that there is there's a rampant amount of one-and-done's with people who don't want to rematch and risk losing GSP they just won, or losing further. Not effected? Cool, sadly hundreds of thousands of others are.

Minecraft has been a large part of my life and I think it would be very cool to see Steve repped in Smash

every single time a crazy character like cloud, piranha plant, or joker gets revealed, people scream "anyone can get in Smash, the sky's the limit." but then you get people who say Steve can't get in because "he has no animations" or "he's just a skin" then that character gets in, people feel silly for doubting sakurais ability to make a character work, and the cycle repeats. really the only thing truly going against steve right now is that the game lacks a non-Nintendo western character

Steve/Minecraft: Is originally a PC game and continues to be a PC-focused game, unlike any other character in Smash currently Is not nearly as popular in the Eastern market as other characters, if popular at all (games like League and Overwatch are insanely more popular in the realm of PC games) Has no actual attachment to Nintendo beyond being released on Nintendo consoles Is a Western game, from a Western Developer, again with no known ties to the Japanese or even American Nintendo companies And opinion here, but is a game heralded for its creative freedom, and not for its characters, visual design, or anything that stands out to the Asian gaming markets. Like it or not, there is a very clear leaning towards the Japanese fanbase with character releases. Cloud, Bayonetta, all the FE characters, Pit, Palutena, Joker, it's blatantly obvious.

You can't raise your online rank by fighting CPUs. The GSP applied in Classic mode has nothing to do with the online GSP. You aren't automatically worse; You are automatically worse *ranked* than them. Ever considered those players might've just done a mistake? Or that you were at the very border of Elite Smash and that those ness players likely get out after a few matches? None of the things you said make "GSP not matter" - yet you say that like a factual statement. Personally I get rematches a bunch of times, and even if; That "downside" does not outweight the massive amount of upsides this online mode brings.

Is it possible that it's a mistake? Yeah of course. But when I've seen several flubs like that or people just SDing to the dumbest shit ever I'm inclined to think that Elite isn't all it's cracked up to be- which is basically what most people agree about anyway. well idk what your standards are; top 1% is probably the good shit from my experience given I've seen some people from locals I played float around there. Sustaining the elite gamer rank is the "difficult" part of elite smash, not just reaching it. And classic mode does not affect your online rank. I have quite literally no idea what you are talking about given you get the "default" gsp based on your highest gsp. Please inform yourself.

I personally would prefer Scout/Heavy getting colored alts beyond red and blue, but I get the feeling they wouldn't do that.

If they wanted to go crazy with alts they can do robot versions and zombie versions of them.

Man, you didn't even watch the video come the fuck on dude. Guy threw matches and only one like twice and his roster GSP just kept raising higher and higher He started at 817k and by the time he was done getting his entire roster to 1 the game was telling him he was at 2mil+ Roster. It just raises on it's own and it doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's just how often you play. i also never said you'd just randomly drop out. I don't think ZeRo or Nairo or anyone ever have to worry about falling out of it or not being considered Elite. But they aren't the standard. Not every match is going to be their tier. I feel like I'm fighting Wii-U For Glory (ft. platforms) when I play a character I have in Elite because there's spammy rolls, people who forget they have shields and more all over the place. You're putting way too much stock into it lol.

i'd rather have Soldier than Scout.
