Super Smash Bros. General v23: Generic Thread Title To Piss People Off Edition

Another 2D character would be neat. But I would prefer it to be Vault Boy.
Still waiting on the Cuphead Switch port, honestly. It'd work perfectly, considering the Switch's big gimmick is "local co-op literally wherever".
Ah, that reminds me of something that happened to me once (which I was thinking about just yesterday, in fact):

Can't wait til Bethesda gets their money-grubbing hands all up in Smash and forces Sakurai to only sell their character with upgradeable forms that you have to pay for
Vault Boy isn't even a real character, he's a mascot. He has nothing to make a moveset out of.
nah he'd be game & watch except gun

As much as I love Fallout, it's an American IP and has no recognizable characters since all of the player characters have vague or no canon appearances, names or even genders.
i think "wanting Vault Boy over Cuphead" is silly, but to say he has nothing to make a movesert out of despite the fact he is literally the visual representation of every single weapon/perk in the fallout franchise is just an absolute lie. he has far more to work with than the likes of Wii Fit Trainer and G&W but they are still in the game.
Yeah that's true. Still, the justification for his inclusion is pretty shaky
I haven't seen a single Rosalina since Ultimate came out, actually forgot she was in the game.
I've only fought a "Rosalina player" once when my friend who is far better at the game was playing random and very quickly remembered why I hated her in 4.
that's for the best
Well she got hit hard by the nerf hammer, so much like Bayo I don't think a lot of people will pick her up again
I'd rather have the player character from Fallout 76
Because that's how I feel about Bethesda right now
Man I wake up feeling like I said something wrong
it was wrong for suggesting Vault Boy could or would be an addition to the game, let alone a good one
but it was still a good post because it genreated conversation beyond posting very funny and very original memes from twitter
All I really said was I would prefer him be a 2D character. Not that he could/would be an addition to the game.
Honestly at this point, I'm expecting the unexpected. I think we might all be looking in the wrong direction, and some popular or notable characters are being overlooked in favor of what will obviously work in Smash.
For example, I've seen absolutely no mention of characters like Aye Aye from Monkey Ball; yeah it's difficult to imagine a moveset off the top of your head, but that's what makes the idea more interesting. You couldn't really imagine a moveset for Captain Falcon if he wasn't already playable, could you?
Monkey Ball isn't exactly popular. There are countless more notable Sega IPs they could pull from.
Neither are many of the series' represented in Smash, objectively speaking.
It's not so much about iconography as it is about creativity. Sakurai has said this much himself before.
But it's Nintendo and not Sakurai who decided upon which DLC characters to add
Even Joker feels very much like a "fun gameplay first" selection
I don't expect Nintendo is being abrasive to Sakurai's development style, that would be horribly counter productive
Typically I would agree, but with the DLC I feel like we should expect main characters from big franchises. Based on what Reggie and Sakurai said as well as Joker setting the tone for the rest of the DLC. They want to get people hyped up so they'll buy the season pass, not confuse them.
Not quite. Sakurai still had final say in which characters to choose for the DLC. It’s just he was limited to choosing characters from a list that Nintendo made for him, and pick 5 out of how many other potential picks there were.
But at the same time (unless this is revaled to be false), it's safe to assume Sakurai chose the Sm4sh DLC characters, and most of the characters released were either returning characters or walking advertisements (ryu and SF2 Switch, bayonetta and Bayo2+1/Bayo3, Cloud and the FF7 remake, Corrin is obvious). Yet, Joker isn't really an advertisement, unless he's advertising the Dancing Star/Moon games, which aren't being released on the Switch. So, it's also safe to assume that if they ARE choosing the characters, they're clearly going towards more popular characters and less walknig advertisements.
Remember, Nintendo made the list, Sakurai picked from the list.
For all we know Nintendo put the likes of Geno, Banjo, Sora, Waluigi, Shovel Knight, and Bandana Dee on there.
Regardless, I'd wager that at least two characters other than Joker will be "WHAAAAAT" tier inclusions that nobody - outside of the most outlandish and unbelievable predictions - will have seen coming
Personally i think dante from DMC has a good shot of getting in. I havent really seen anyone speculate him.
My two biggest wants for the game are Dante and Crono. I don't think Dante has a chance but Crono might.
Smash "canon": Charizard became unruly and left its trainer to compete by itself in Smash 4.
