Nevermind, I just beat Route A Claire hardcore and S ranked it first try. I wasn't able to get the MAC-10 on the run as I forgot how to get it and if I were to reroute in that situation I was in, I did not think I would be on S rank pace so I left it. I had the infinite handgun and the M79 only the whole run, well I did shoot the glorified taser only like 2 times to help get past some sewer monsters, then I never used it ever again. I kept dying to the boss that involves you pushing buttons.. god that was frustrating. Had like no ammo in the nade launcher and my infinite pistol was too weak to deal the amount of damage to stun him for me to press the button, I ended up just going balls deep and press the kill switch and would bait him into it and run out as fast as I could. 15 saves and completed in 2hours20minutes.
But as Leon you get all the keys minus the heart key in this.
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/223334/e95ba7e6-cdff-4672-9700-43c454383c16/i hate this game.mp4 I'm not good when it comes to horror games
I feel like the infinite ammo weapons they give you for S-ranking the game aren't worth the effort. If they just gave you infinite ammo for every gun like in RE7, I would be more inclined to go for S-rank.
I got to the boss fight with the buttons and then the game crashed when I took a hit.
Having infinite ammo variants of all the weapons in the game as well as being able to use any weapon from the start would be amazing. I would love a run with just a infinite shotgun, it's just so satisfying to blast zombies into 2 halves or whatever bits you can tear off. One of the few things about RE5 that made me replay it so many times if that you can pretty much buy and upgrade every weapon in the game into infinite ammo and use as you please.
Reall not a fan of G4's redesign.
Just installed and started a hardcore run... and died to the very first zombie.
In run 2, should I be using the Matilda, or the 1911?
Jesus this game is hard as fuck for me, even on normal. I feel like I'm just barely getting by even tho I'm playing it extra smart with my ammo and avoiding fights when I can. Really loving this That said tho, was I the only person really let down when the giant gator showed up, only to almost immediately get killed off in a single shot? i 'beat' him on my first try and was then expecting an actually challening boss fight, but nope he just fucking blows up. I was kinda looking forward to fighting him lol. O well, rest of the game is great.
i didn't have enough ammo to beat stage 1 G on Leon B
What does more damage, acid or flame rounds?
Well to be fair, the gator fight in the original game was pretty much exactly the same, albeit less dramatic and flashy.
Just stopped playing for the night on hardcore Leon 2nd run; and I definitely had a few moments that really tested my skills. The west hallway on my way to get a the lever for the jack filled with lickers and zombies and a pursuing Mr. X seemed daunting, especially when I had like maybe 7 bullets. But instead of rushing in the preceding room before it, I slowed down way in the lobby and started off walking (I usually go slow in this game, but Mr. X's heavy footsteps can often kick in fear mode) and it worked out much better. Currently in the sewers now. 2nd run feels a little disappointing in some ways (Not really a true B scenario and jarring framing during the start); but at the same time I love the shorter campaign length, remixed puzzles/item placement, and it feels a bit harder to me. I swear X seems faster or stronger somehow.
If I have never played a resident evil game ever, will I be alright starting with re2 remake?
You'll be fine. The story is contained well enough that you don't need to play the other games.
i just started clair a it seems the same so far (entered the police station) should i keep playing or switch to b?
I'd stick to the new weapon because all the ammo you can find will be for it. Use the Matilda as a backup weapon. You can only get 9mm ammo by using gunpowder in 2nd story.
I managed to sneak past a licker completely undetected, so it indeed is possible: https://youtu.be/x2hZvuBweso?t=33 Start watching at 0:33 if it doesn't start there. There's also a hidden cameo here. Can YOU spot it?
Caved and got the game. Fixed the brightness bug by disabling AO entirely. Pretty fun so far, but I only just opened up the statue in the lobby.
I charged into that hallway like a maniac with Mr X hot on my heels and 0 bullets to my name. I got jumped by the fucking licker inches from the club door only to be fucking saved by a flashbang I only had with me because having no ammo really frees up your inventory. Had to run around in the record room with Mr X as zombies broke down the door..I actually managed to escape alive somehow and run away and cry in a far corner of the map. I hope I grabbed whatever I needed to in there, I don't even remember as I was in a blind panic. I don't wanna go back there.... THIS is why survival horror is a such great genre. Its been so long since I've played a proper one.
I actually had some ammo when I reached that part and I had to grab the jack. Started off from that save room beneath the stairs, grabbed a 9mm gun, knife, flashbang and the grenade launcher with 1 acid round and decided to clear out the corridor as good as I could, mainly aiming to kill the licker. As soon as I entered that hallway which leads to the space between the west office and the room with the security office and started shooting zombos and that licker, I heard Mr X coming down the stairs behind me. But I couldn't turn around because the other enemies were coming at me from the front. So I had to ingore that fucking Hulk probably getting ready to beat my ass a few metres behind me while aiming for headshots Once I hit the licker with the acid round I just fucking bolted past everything still alive and into the records room.
I wish you could lure zombies to lickers so they could rip them to shreds. There's moments where you see lickers eating other zombies, why can't we do that?
2nd run is kicking my ass because I have no idea where certain items needed to progress are in this run. I fucking love it. Also Mr. X keeps managing to lose me and then deliberately walk out of doors infront of me two floors down. The bastard.
Also Mr X should just backhand any creature that gets in his way when he's stomping towards you. Would be perfect.
i think it's okay for the way sub-weapons are balanced, but it is BULLSHIT that zombies on stairs can do a lunge attack that you just can't knife out of. 4th Survivor and Tofu would be like 100 times easier if not for those fucking stair zombies
without spoiling anything (ive done leon A and im about to enter sewers in claire B), is there any difference beyond story or cutscenes or something like that between leon A and claire A? i know claire A/leon B is the canon run, but is the route and shit for them just gonna be the same as it was for their respective alternative run?
Doesn't he already do that?
Played a few hours and good god hardcore is fucking brutal. Fairly little ammo and a single bite just takes you down red a lot of the time. Sorta feel like the amount of damage bits do is a bit too much, though everything else is fine. Is there any reliable tactic to dodging zombies? Wall hugging doesn't really work anywhere near as well
Whenever they get stunned by any form of damage you can run past I think. Other than that, I haven't found anyway of reliably dodging yet. Managed to bait out a charge and stay out of it's range in order to get around one though, but you need a bunch of space in order to do that.
