Resident Evil Franchise Megathread V.1 "WHY'D HE BITE ME?!"

So how do you get back to that box where you can insert the STARS badge before the first boss fight after you've beaten that boss as Leon? The original entrance is locked.
Much later.
where is that? i know its the magnum barrelbut i never found it, as clair i forgot to take back the badge. not sure if its worth going back for it and the 2 hidden items or just getting on the cable car
Not huge news, but they apparently removed Denuvo from RE7.
The more I think about the intro the more confused I get.
What the fuck is with the Sheriff? He's holding a zombie against the wall for 10 minutes completely overpowering the zombo not really saying anything to it and just kinda staring lovingly into its eyes. The only reason he gets taken out is because Leon distracts him.
Like did he somehow miss that half the guys face was missing and he was vomiting blood everywhere with dead eyes and gnashing wildly? If you don't acknowledge zombies as a threat do they no longer have any power???? Who was that mysterious power sheriff???
It's right after you leave the elevator under the statue at the end of the police station, right before the first boss and before the parking lot section. There are stairs leading down in a dark room and you have the choice to go left at one point and enter the boss area or keep goin down. It's down there next to a locked door.
I also managed to grab it after I got the sewer key and found a secret passageway.
Maybe the fanbase will actually start figuring how to mod it now. I know Denuvo doesn't stop modding depending on the game, but people wouldn't stop fucking citing it as the main limitation.

Just did this run while on the phone with my gf
Standard is so fucking relaxing after hardcore
I know jack shit about RE and has never played them. Is it possible to start by playing the latest ones? Now that RE2 has came out I take it there's one before that, but there's so many of these games that I'm confused. Where do I start if I only have a PC to play on.
I'd starth with the RE1 Remake and then play the RE2 Remake, if you're just interested in getting the more modern experiences - RE1 Remake will give you the classic kind of gameplay and the beginning beats of the story and RE2 Remake is basically a continuation of that game and plays a little like the more action-y games in the series, so if you enjoy both of them you can get into the older titles.
So apparently Knife damage is tied to framerate. The higher your frames the more damage the knife deals
@Janus Vesta
During the run I also found the ultimate technique to fighting that boss you liked so much

Modders found a model of RE7 Chris as well as a not dead Katherine Warren. The swaps are also available, I guess if you can't wait for the Ghost Survivors DLC just do the model swap :v
where did you choose to save, and would you have done it differently?
Imagine if they add Chris as a third playable character and he just punches the living shit out of everything and does wrestling moves on Mr X
i had a dream where there was an unlockable s+ martial arts item you could put in your inventory ala RE7 that allowed you to do all of leons sick moves from resident evil 4 when zombies are staggered. face kicking and suplexing is what i feel is missing on for-fun replays
Fun little unlockables like that would be amazing! I'd also take a DLC model of Leon in his RE4 jacket in a heartbeat.
Nah the reward was Infinite Ammo Samurai Edge
that's the reward for regular old S, I got that one for my S run. I thought S+ was supposed to be rocket launcher
I guess I know what I'll play after I do Claire S+ Standard next
In the second run am I going to really get anymore special gunpowder? I have like zero ammo and so much regular gunpowder saved up in the sewersbut since I can't craft .45 ammo I've been saving it to make shotgun ammo... and there hasn't been yellow gunpowder for like, three hours. I could craft a bunch of Matilda ammo, but like, what if I need the gunpowder?
I think the most yellow gunpowder you'll find will be in the last section of the game
Don't they just mean that canonically they didn't live but we're supposed to change that?
apparently damage is tied to framerate, so if you want easy fights for a speedrun, put everything on low and uncap your fps
Wow, the PC version seemed really good but I can't believe they wouldn't catch that bug.
I think the Giant Alligator does the same thing everytime. I personally though it was going to be a full fight this time.
Ada was made even more ridiculously attractive and it hurts

Technically speaking the alligator IS a fight in the original game, you can attack it and everything and force it to retreat in Scenario A, where you then have to fight it again in Scenario B. Problem is that the canister method is so well known, requires only one bullet and ultimately saves you so much effort that most people don't realize it's actually a boss fight.
tbh i'm kinda disappointed that clearing hardcore mode doesn't unlock the classic alternate costumes from RE2, it would have been sick to see Leon and Claire with the dumb leather jackets with skulls and flames and American flags on them. especially since the SAA and M19 are both callbacks to the costumes
Oh really? I never knew you could made it retreat to Scenario B. I always though you HAD to use the canister method to kill it.
