Resident Evil Franchise Megathread V.1 "WHY'D HE BITE ME?!"

oh no doubt about it, REmake2 is gonna be mind blowing, but the original did things in a very special way imo.
it was funny though because your character's voice clips were tied to the area rather than plot progression, so your character would be like "haha get wrecked zombo >:)" one minute and then you would backtrack and they would be screaming "AW FUCK AW JEEZ OH GOD OH MAN" again
I feel like they could had properly addressed that better if they tied it to the character's XP progression instead
But yeah stuff like those are really neat. Not a zombie game but it's one of the things I really liked with Spec Ops The Line, where the protagonist and his team just gets more violent and rabid as the game puts them through hell.
I like the cursing. Reminds me of Dead Space 2 where Isaac was sick of all the necromorph bullshit he was dealing with.
Also I hope one of the unlocks upon completion is a chainsaw. The gore system is perfect for something like that. In fact, I'm hoping for some greater weapon variety this time.
I dont think the weapon variety is going to be much. The upgrades are moat likely where the variation will be.
Well that's how the original was, so I'm fine with that.

Leon kiiiinda has a andromeda mouth goin on
You know, I think one of the best additions is giving Mr. X a hat. don't know why but I love it. Like, Umbrella tried their best to make him blend in but they forgot he's a six foot tall, hulking gray freak.
I'm sure from a distance of like, 3 blocks it'd look like a normal human.
I totally agree with the sound design. The original RE2 ambience and soundtrack was really haunting and memorable.

I totally understand why the sound design is the way it is in the remake, with focus more on spatial awareness and immersing you in your surrounding environment. I'm just super attached to the music and audio work in the original. Curious to see how playing with the original OST works in the remake, though.

Walking around in RE3 was always creepy, specially when you tried to back-track down backally's and got lost.
Yeah, Raccoon City is legit nightmarish in RE2 & 3. Making it to the police station in RE2 felt like you reached a relatively safe place, and I love the city background ambience when you briefly go outside to the staircase behind the police station. It reminds you how horrifying being out in the streets are just based on the sound alone.
I'm glad you brought up the staircase behind the police station. Without there being any actual zombies on screen, the ambiance definitely makes this a memorable location in the original game.
By the way, something that struck me: is it me or do the zombie animations sometimes seem to run at a lower framerate than the game? I especially noticed this when I saw a zombie banging on the window and it didn't seem anything like the 60 fps the game was running at.
"Hmm, I think it needs a hat."
"A hat?! Why the... Uhm, yes, a hat, great addition... Mr.Wesker."
For some reason I couldn't help but think of the Bane from Batman and Robin

Not today, thank you!
If they confirm the brightness bug fixed I'll definitely get the game, though honestly I'm more jazzed for the fact RE3make seems super-likely now. It's not loved all that much compared to RE2 but I bonded with that game as a kid.
If you've ever played any soulsborne games, you'd notice that they do this too. I'm pretty sure it's for optimization purposes.
I played through the demo again, and noticed that if you try to run down the stairs to get away from zombie, they won't just follow you down the stairs. They'll climb over the fucking railing and fall down to the lower floor. They don't give a FUCK.
i kinda wish there were more zombies, by the time i reached the end of the demo i had 60 shots for my pistol
overall though it was pretty fun, didn't fuck with any of the puzzles since it was such a short time but i want to get the full game now.
Now I'm imagining a zombie who stands in front of the railing and briefly contemplates doing just that before shaking his head and chasing you down the stairs. So considerate of him.
Probably just a demo thing. There's gonna be a ton of zombies and a fitting amount of ammo in the final game I bet.
To peek through if you need to. You just open it a little bit to see into the room, but you won't aggro anything. Not all that useful really.
The door opening is more of a hold over from RE7, where peeking through a crack in a door was actually useful.
Wish they'd respond more to falling down from a height. Would be great if the zombie gets up and starts limping towards you due to a fall.
Spent way too much time looking at shit and reading, got the pop up for 20 mins played and suddenly started bumrushing down the corridors.
Or they land on their head and it just pops.
That feeling when you make it back into the light and safety of the lobby area. Jeeze the demo was one tense hallway after another. The zombies are a bitch to kill. They tank even headshots this time around. I had this one lady zombie try to eat me, barely had a face left and still kept on coming. I don't want to imagine dealing with Mr. X in the middle of all that. Jesus.

listen to these
the first is like watching the hideous aftermath of a lost fight against the undead, halls soaked in blood, littered with corpses
the second REALLY evokes the feeling of going down into the unknown. Into the darkness that most likely has something even worse waiting for you.
