Resident Evil Franchise Megathread V.1 "WHY'D HE BITE ME?!"

What all carries over into NG+? Like if I complete a game on assisted, would it exist in standard?
New Game [2nd Run] doesn't carry over any items, and the only items that "carry" over is infinite weapons, which one you unlock one, all of your save files will have it.
For REmake fans, I just found this today while browsing online.
REupscale project | A Resident Evil HD Remaster Mod
Using some fancy AI Neural Networks, someone has touched up the textures and background for the game. While it's not perfect considering the odd nature of porting the title over, I gave it a go with some reshade/SweetFX effects and I think the game looks notable improved. Here is a comparison video and some photos from the mod.

A properly done upscaling of the backgrounds in classic re2 and re3 would be real nice as a mod for the games to go with running it on higher res.
There are some that already exist, using a mixture of using the highest-res versions available from the PC ports and a similar upscaling method.

Though a more modern method and something that will finally be able to bypass the visible tiling/edges would be nice. Definitely gonna take a bit of time though, since it will require some manual editing on top of the upscaling to achieve the best results.
So am I crazy or is the spark shot just not very useful? I actually decided I didn't even want to take it and clog up my inventory on a second run playthrough.
It's really good against the G adults, lickers, and zombies. It can kill those in one shot. It's not great against bosses, but Claire's other weapons are so good against bosses it doesn't really matter.
I found it super handy for clearing out adult G's
The Spark Shot comes pretty late, but it's great for cleaning up enemies in later areas or on revisiting the police station for any missing goodies. It's not good for direct combat if you have more than one threat active though.
To be fair the gameplay isn't like the original where you can blast your way through every zombie nor should you even try. Weapons are there more to incapacitate or stun zombies to give you a chance to run past, not to kill them. Leon's pistols are piss weak as well, having you burn through ammo if you wanna kill a zombie.
This is more or less the purpose of acid rounds. They melt them to the point of giving you an easy window to run past.
I recently gave RE 0 a try and I found myself just watching a play-through of it online instead. RE1 HD was a blast though, I'd recommend it.
Anybody got any hardcore Claire B tips before I start? All I know so far is to avoid the STARS office for as long as possible.
i found it good for incapacitating the ivy enemies; it let me get through the whole plant 43 area without wasting any of the more useful ammunition types on them
God the first playthrough gets truly stressful once Mr. X comes to punch you in the nose because you are a coward.
God, this Resident Evil 1 is REALLY something uh? Always something, never done with a zombie. I knifed two spider today (got to the second house, the moment where barry speak to a "mysterious someone" which I presume is either chris or albert wesker and then you find the secret lab, and then there's shark attacking, so I thought I would knife them to death excepted that a big shark jumped up and ate me)
Fuck, the game is just SO good. It makes me feel bad for RE2 and makes me wonders whether I should play the original or the remake, because RE1 last quite a long time and I'd love if the second was as long, and also some puzzle are pretty nice and the difficulty is really wonderful. I fear that I may not get the full RE experience with REmake and that I will miss thing cause apparently RE2make cut quite a lot of thing from the original RE2.
So are the puzzle in RE2make decent? Are the story change that big? Does the game last as long as RE1?
Also does the chris redfield road changes much of the story/gameplay or am I safe in just skipping it?
I really don't understand why there isn't an infinite ammo variant of every weapon. They could've just made an item you could put in your inventory to enable it. I wanna shoot my flamethrower forever.
Going to assume it's because they may add new weapons later (through updates and/or DLC) and want the incentives for people to unlock infinite versions of them. As is, you have to do a lot of work to unlock every infinite weapon in the game which would be largely negated if you only needed to unlock an infinite ammo attachment.
There's also the problem of the difficulty to acquire infinite ammo. Either they make it easy to get (like the infinite pistol) and then everyone has it, or they make it ridiculously hard (like requiring S+ Hardmode or beating all the Tofu missions) and then only a small minority of people will ever get it (and thus everyone else will complain).
Although I agree that there should be infinite versions of every weapon currently in the game.
Trying to go for the S+ rank on Claire A, made it to the sewers at 59 minutes. I should be good, right?
both the sewer and the lab can be ran through in like 30 minutes so you should be more than fine
Alright cool, thanks. I'm mostly confident I can get through the sewers unscathed, only thing I'm a bit worried about is G2. Left a save from an earlier run right before him so I'm gonna practice him for a bit before getting back to it.
I started Resident evil with 2 since I had an N64, personally I found it way easier than the remake, the remake does puzzles differently, and the story is revised in slight ways but honestly RE2 remake IMHO is the superior experience.
Also are you playing the RE1 remake or the actual original?
I only have experience with the RE1 remake so I don't know if this applies to the PS1 version but Chris's story introduces you to Rebecca Chambers, the sole survivor from Bravo team (RE0), but AFAIK other than that, it doesn't really add anything else.
I'm assuming if you use an infinite ammo weapon you can't get S+. Just finished 2nd run on hardcore and i came in under the time and save limit but only got an S rank.
Ok this can't be right...
The other day I went to check how hard I could push my rig on RE7, maxed everything out, and it crapped itself at 47 fps with everything cranked up except for vsync and blur which were off, and I guess using FXAA + TAA which shouldn't be the max? This was on a 1060 strix.
Today changed to a 1070ti, same settings, went in and everything was smooth. I felt it be a bit strangely stable but kind of locked, and yeah it was locked to 60. Unlocked it and minimun revealed itself now to be 130 fps...
Is this normal? Did I forget something? It surely can't be that huge of a difference from a 1060 to a 1070...
Ya can't use any infinite gear. Preorder weapons are ok though. I've heard that the infinite knife is ok, but haven't tested it myself.
If you fire an infinite ammo gun you are limited to S. You can hold the gun equip the gun, even whisper sweet nothings to the gun and still be eligible for the S+, but if you pull that trigger even once you're locked out of the coveted S+.
Infinite knife is safe to use though.
well yeah but still, the 1060 was shitting itself completely not even giving 60 fps, the 1070ti just doesn't cares and gives esports level of performance with top visual quality. Pretty nuts, and RE2make isn't a slouch either.
my advice is to hit him with all the flamethrower ammo you have before even hitting him with the crane once. should kill him immediately
aaand done

I ended up bopping him with the crane twice, didn't want to use too many flame rounds (still ended up using more than I would've liked though). Took a hit but I managed to save up a ton of herbs so everything worked out, I guess
This asshole.

This was my first sub 50 pace by a long shot, usually at this point I'm only 8-10s ahead. Then this bitch decides "You know what? No."
I don't even care if I don't get sub 50 at this point, I just want under 50:06 so I can say I beat Carci.
RE2 speed running feels like something I could try and get into (Love the game; been playing it for years though only in the last few years with going as fast in mind). Like I've never gotten a score I could brag about, but while I'll replay the game maybe like 5-10 times in a given year, I'm not training on it like I could.
Those sub 50 times are just crazy. Is that the SourceNext version of the game people are using? I see it says PC version.
Been trying to get an S+ with this guide. It involves a glitch that makes it so Mr. X never spawns in the police station, and one that lets you skip the entire sewer section. Probably the easiest route I've seen so far if you're going for that rocket launcher.
