I was going to make a fork of the HL2CE repository for my Source mod, is there anything that's broken in the HL2, episodic and not game specific code of the engine that I should be aware of?
So that beta was because there's an exploit in the engine (again): https://www.zdnet.com/article/malicious-counter-strike-1-6-servers-used-zero-days-to-infect-users-with-malware/
Thread here: CS1.6 servers used zero
Complaints about what? I liked the video
I think he meant what do we think about the models / materials shown in the video for use in Boreal Alyph
no i meant do you like this format of posting where we post something cute and funny because people complained it wasnt professional
It's ok to do silly stuff for a fan project, its not like this is officially sponsored by valve
I actually hate when fan projects go full on professional/corporate style. Games/mods are about fun and entertainment.
I liked it for the choice of music alone. Can't go wrong with Thin Lizzy.
Those are great. Any chance you do the same for the sprite fexplo1?
It's the explosion sprite that gets used whenever an alien teleports in, in Half-Life and all its expansions. The sprite is an orange explosion, but whenever it is used in-game it is simply tinted green to make it look like some strange puff of alien plasma energy. (The Valve developer wiki instructs "Set the FX Color (R G B) value to "77 210 130". This will give it a green color.")

I don't think I could faithfully recreate it because I assume the "Glow" effect messes with the colors somewhat in-engine, but I think this might be how the colors are without the effect. Watching a video it seemed like there was still some orangeish stuff in the sprite so I tried a different recoloring thing to see if I could match it. I'm not good with images so I couldn't figure out how to overlay the additional sprite used without leaving obvious artifacts from the black background.
Great work! I wasn't even expecting you to actually re-colour it to green, so the fact that you did is much appreciated!
the vcc discord is posting edgy /pol/ memes and memes about the NZ shooting. They have rules against political stuff, but refuse to enforce it over 'free speech'. Is this what the HL community is now? Has it always been like this?
Just in case you guys think this is a joke or me being a whiny baby.

They have people literally defending the NZ shooter as 'a shitposter with a cause'. this isn't okay at all. The mods defended this man.
Just report the server to the Discord admins and leave.
Wretched fascism seeping into everything. If this goes unchecked we'll absolutely have another horrific genocide in a few decades.
The person in question should've been kicked before, dunno why so he is now, got a warning as well.
Now stop whining.
no
Updated my Walter avatar yesterday for fun.
Walter is now in the Black Ops, ready to drop some fools.

I'd like to see this model in MGS V

We're so starved for information that random questions are news now?
VNN is starved for information more like, he can literally just make things up unverified and unsourced and publish it as news. Do we know these emails are real? Nope.
VNN has lost all credibility.
@ValveNewsNetwork , is there any proof that the last email in your video is real? It could be easily faked.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8KJsG91Bno
Throughout this entire video, he cites no source and shows no proof. He's just saying these wild and bold claims without any kind of backup. And on the screen he just slaps uncorroborated and expects that to be a fallback when this is proven to be an obvious hoax for views.
It's hardly even thought up past the Nintendo bait to get people to watch. Half-Life: Tactics, 'impressive' stuff.
VNN has no credibility and is no longer a valid news source, it's just a crack theory channel he wants people to think is true so they watch.
Does anybody who matters still believe this guy?
"VNN has lost all credibility"
VNN never had credibility in the first place.
"The next five years"
We'll see about that.
Are you sure? Back when it was exciting to look into the game data caches for unused materials they were always top of the list on reporting everyone's findings.
It's just free information for him to make a living off of. Just like the information Portal Project-Beta gave to him, which he still had managed to mess up (incorrect information that wasn't even given to him and were stated differently in the information given to him, never pointed out that the footage he was showing was a mod and just claimed it was a real beta build, never crediting the team or mod on the information or the mod they gave him) and he ultimately ended up leaking their mod to people, which ended up causing the project to die.
ValveTime did always a better job on these cases anyway.
VNN just have a long lasting problems with not showing sources, let alone to verify them so very often he eats whole fabricated rumours.
I'll trust all of them but that last one. Gabe is always robotic in his emails and the wink is uncharacteristic.
