I'm genuinely curious how they would do Konquest at all, what with the bigger emphasis on linear (but presentable as fuck) story modes the last 2 MKs (and Injustice games) have had.

Yeah, not much happened in MKX's story and even Shinnok only had like two scenes: showing up at the very beginning to get beat up by Johnny, then showing up 25 years later to get beat up by Cassie.
The relative strength of each character was bizarre too. Kotal and the Gang only functioned to lose to the Kombat Kids multiple times (eg. Jacqui won successive fights against Reptile, Ermac, Ferra/Torr, and Kotal), Kitana single-handedly held three of the Kombat Kids off at the same time, and D'Vorah was capable of killing anyone except Raiden and Cassie.
last time I saw Shang Tsung he was a couple cartoon voices and in 47 Ronin...

I'd just argue Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is much more prolific. I don't get the impression he's struggling to make a career.
If IMDB is to be believed, Robin Shou hasn't really been in anything in the last 5 years and his only truly memorable role was Liu Kang in the MK movies, and I feel bad for the guy, I think he deserved better than MK Annihilation and all the other crap movies he got cast for after.
I wouldn't mind a nod to him with Liu Kang in this game. Though as far as voice, I hope they keep the actor they used in 9 and 10 because I like his voice.
Speaking of voices, I know others probably like it, but I hate the voice for Sub Zero in X and 11. Feels too cartoony to me, doesn't fit at all imo.
I love everyone else for the most part, but I'm mad they changed Scorpion's VO because I thought 9 and X were pretty good.
It's Steve Blum, he's been in so many videogames and i've had that specific problem with him too in many releases.
Especially when he plays minor extra roles he just stands out like a sore thumb, his standard criminal voice is the worst.

Was gonna say, she just isn't working out well with the other amazing voice talent. There's no emotion in her voice, it just feels like she's reading lines rather than acting as her character would in a situation.
I knew time travel would be a thing in the story but ho boy, this is gonna be bonkers and I love it.
