If the borgs are DLC they better have klassic heads as an option. I'd say Sheeva is more likely, but I was hoping this would be Kintaro's time to shine after we had Sheeva in MK9 and Goro in MKX.

That said I don't think it's hot garbage, but it does feel a bit rushed story-wise. Though still I like what I read about the middle parts and the character interactions, so I'll reserve full judgement until I can also play the game fully myself.
Spoilery thoughts though regarding the ending, it doesn't detail anything but it already gives a huge hint on what happens
This either might be the last MK game for a while, and the next one will be another reboot
But yeah the rest of the game still looks fantastic

I saw a vid where you could pick Subzero or Scorpion for the next fight ala Injustice 2, and that game had where you had to beat all the fights to get the real final chapter

No, there's just a "bad" ending where Kronika wins and erases everything and a "good" ending.
The reason why I'd say it sounds pretty terrible is because it just seems like a whole ton of wasted potential. Spoilers below, but a few major examples:
Noob Saibot shows up twice in the story as a jobber and apparently has little relevance beyond being a fight; his appearance is never explained.
Apparently no clear explanation of the whereabouts or fates of, Ermac, Shang Tsung, Takeda, Kung Jin, Rain, Tanya, Fujin, Shinnok (past chapter 1), Quan Chi or Mileena (since they could have been brought back as well because time travel), Smoke, Goro, Kintaro, or Nightwolf. Didn't bother to use any of the potentially redeemable 3D-era characters like Havik either.
Cetrion has really no role in the story besides Kronika's goon.
Shao Kahn is killed by Kitana, who then is given the throne to Outworld by Kotal Kahn. So why was Kotal even there?
Apparently the Kollector is basically just Ferra/Torr 2.0 and has little to no relevance to the story at all.
D'Vorah kills future scorpion and despite being mortally wounded by past Scorpion, her plot thread is never dealt with.
These are just a few examples, but the most damning thing is that the plot ends with what looks and sounds like a soft reboot of the series (again) without ever resolving a whole bunch of interesting possible conflicts. They seem to have taken the safest possible option with the story either because they felt they had written themselves into a corner (they didn't) or they were tired/rushed working on it.
What the story really needs is an epilogue explaining what happens to the characters who aren't Liu, Raiden & Kitana after the ending; because otherwise it was all basically a waste of time/character development. Then it -might- be passable.
I bet Liu Kang will take Raidens place as the earthrealm defender or whatever. Ascendant ThunderGod.

Would getting this on PC be a bad idea? I remember hearing bad things about MKX's port, and I don't know if Injustice 2 did any better.
The original port of Mortal Kombat X was a disaster to the point it got abandoned, then QLOC ported the XL edition and now it works perfect. They ported Injustice 2 and for me it worked great. They are porting MK 11 so most likely it should work good on launch.
I wasn't expecting the story to be a masterpiece, so long as it entertains I would be fine.
BUT:
