Okay, see you guys next month then
Hammond feels so much more reactive in situations now. I can smash down and roll away instead of having to exit ball mode for shields. It opens up so many new ways to tackle situations. Now if they just got rid of sombra then I would be golden.
So, Baptiste. I really think they are on to something with the immortality field. It is not overpowered, it rewards strategic usage and even carries a certain risk since the whole team tends to clump together. Watch out for those Q-press DPSs everybody! I also think his personality is sort of fun, his got a sort of awkward charm to him what with him thanking himself for a job well done and assuring people that "mostly, his patients tend to survive". What I really like about his ult is that it can give an opportunity to push with regular attacks in a pinch, instead of the usual ult-vomit all over the control point. But his weapon is really awkward to use, the damage is really bad, comes in short bursts and as long as the rest of the healers are also expected to be DPSs I don´t think he will be very strong in the meta. Of course, his healing grenades do not bounce or anything like that, they just plop on the ground. This broke my heart, it really did. I had hoped for Baptiste to a healer who sort of stood away from the main action (expecially with his jumping ability and with how far you can throw the immortality field). You could bounce grenades around corners or over walls but be weak to flankers. Just imagine trying to kill a Tracer or Genji with his M1 attack. As of now everything about him feels kind of awkward and tacked on. I think I will stick with Lucio for high-mobility low aura-type healing in the future.
He is a characters with no direction, with no coherence in the grand scheme of characters kit. I still appreciates his simpler design, thought I wish it had more "oomph" like Soldier 76 visor, and the light blue used feels odd.
According to the big guys who still play, his immortality field perpetuates GOATS greatly because of the visual clutter more than anything else. Dafran commented that yes, you can see it, yes you can destroy it. But CAN you ACTUALLY see it when a Goats mirror match engages eachother? Because that's the thing, the split second you divert your attention to killing the lil bot, you can be wiped from existence from the shift of attention.
I don't think goats goes away with simple numble change nerfs. Zarya still doesnt have counterplay to her abilities, and her damage still scales to an insane number if you dare shoot her shield. Her ultimate still ends fights if she looks in a vauge direction and presses Q. Reinhardt is still a heavily underestimated source of AOE damage synergizing well with Zarya's Q press, and his ultimate is of the same tier. And he's also Immune to nerfs because reasons. D.Va can be knocked back now, big deal. The heroes she surpresses don't ususally have those sort of abilities anyway. Moira is barifing out marginally more healing, Lucio still allows goats to close distances, as long as everyone is moving faster than base movement speed, goats should work Brig is still a warcrime. A lot of the nerfs they did do were pretty bad as well, 50 whole HP off Nanoboost. Thats still a 250 HP instant boost. I can't really think of many realistic situations where the 50HP mattered. Ana's base healing can already upkeep a tank through most damage sources. They only cut back marginally on the extra shit.
So they're just redoing last year's event https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/424942/73ef7f50-d7e3-4525-b480-055021e5e0eb/image.png Oh joy
Overwatch is just a lootbox whale now. It's fairly obvious there are no plans for major events or expansion beyond 1 map and character a year.
What no new mission? dang.
You'd think with the amount of heroes in the game they could come up with a new lore event
Has it been confirmed that there will be no new archive mission?
https://old.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/b30yr4/overwatch_archives_event_april_16_to_6_may/ That was a mishap on the website that leaked the Archives dates for this year. IIRC Jeff said there'd be something new for it this year.
It's called Archives, it'd be a damn shame if there was actually only 1 archive.

Feels like forever since I've had a decent highlight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djIL9mqjDbs
Reminds me, that POTG-sharing thread disappeared when the subforums were deleted, right? I haven´t really got anything good since then to be honest, except this little thing from last night: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/239377/42786b6e-bb54-4e61-8af1-6f47490690db/drsunnyside's highlight_19-03-23_21-04-49.mp4 Why have Hammond when you can have MANmond? https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/239377/5c945d9d-724f-43b0-9370-0f169f799f6b/hamm.png
Anyone have tips for queuing solo? I just got back into the game recently and wanted to actually get into comp. Unfortunately, all of my friends have moved on or gotten sick of playing.
Here's a tip: Don't There's a team builder, just use that
In my experience, team builder teams actually do worse than total randoms because they're too busy thinking "we have a team comp, so we win" instead of actually winning.
I'm thinking about doing solo to get a rank and then going from there to reddit or some other LFG platform. Sound like a good idea?
I've been solo queuing since launch This last season I've done nothing but play Doomfist, it's pretty fun to be honest. Gotta get his achievement somehow. Only tip I got is play your role, and don't be afraid to switch. Your ult isn't worth it if you are getting stomped, I promise. If you want to straight carry go wrecking ball, widow (if you are good) or pharah. This is coming from a tank main btw
New update hit the PTR: Overwatch PTR's Patch Notes The biggest hero changes are: Junkrat Frag Launcher: Projectile speed increased from 20 to 25 Grenades now bounce less but explode sooner Developer Comments: With this change, we’re looking to slightly increase the range at which Junkrat can land direct hits. The speed of his bombs has increased, but we tuned it so this wouldn’t affect the arc of his projectile. This means that aiming with it will feel the same. The grenades bounce less and explode sooner, which will allow Junkrat to aim them more deliberately. This will reduce the amount of rolling grenade spam when playing against him. Reaper Shadow Step: Can now be used in air Time to exit Shadow Step reduced from 1.0 second to 0.5 of a second Reaper is now invisible for the entire time it takes to exit shadow step Can now teleport onto surfaces that would usually break, like railings Developer Comments: Shadow Step was originally intended to be purely an out-of-combat mobility tool to traverse the map, since Wraith Form was already a great tool for disengaging. However, this made Shadow Step very situational, so we’re increasing its flexibility to make it a better, less niche ability. This will enable Reaper to use Shadow Step in more offensive situations. Symmetra Teleporter: Railings and other breakable objects no longer block teleporter placement and teleporting. Mei Fixed a bug where Mei could not be healed by other heroes while using Cryo-Freeze --- You don't know how happy I am with that teleporter change. Those railings were the bane of my existance.
So I decided to come back and give Overwatch a go.... Jesus christ what a shit-fest. Reapers walking into a team and holding M1 without dying, smurfs and boosters rampant in gold/platinum, still no SMS locks for Ranked like other ranked form of games do (DotA, LoL, CS:GO) and STILL event locked bullshittery that makes you wait a year for the one thing you want that you're not allowed to simply spend gold coins on.
They really ruined reaper by over buffing his life steal, how hard is it to just make him engage better?
And that Reaper "buff" to Teleport is NOT what players asked for in the slightest.
I think the teleport buff is nice; they're right about the idea that its SUPER niche otherwise, but this should make it more viable to be aggressive with it.
I play on and off but usually try out the game after balance update. I gotta say ever since they buffed Reaper's life steal he got more annoying. I do think the buff to his teleport is good idea though. It's still pretty situational but at least it's (will be) a bit more useful now.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/b5l67x/ptr_compendium_of_28_reaper_jumps_in_162_seconds/ This is a substantial buff but man does it look wonky as fuck.
Looks like a great tool to counter being booped off the edge. Which is a shame, because Reaper has one of the best falling-off-the-map screams.
Okay if anything I deserve a "Bad reading" rating. I completely misread what the buff entailed, that is pretty damn good.
