Why is there a queue to even get to the menu?
On bright side, the mission is so short that arcade lootboxes farming will be faster.
This is just a set up for how Doomfist got defeated by Winston fight
I don't understand, how does a company like Blizzard make an event this underwhelming? They're fucking rich and Overwatch brings in tons of cash, you'd think they would put in more effort. Especially since they've had more than enough time to make this event since they do fuck all else.
Because they know that even with minimal effort, people will still like it and eat it, and they'll still get tons of cash.
It work, that's why. It brings money. Making better and more content.
Have to agree. Uprising was an incredible journey through King's Row that made the map feel huge. Hard final battle against those three beefy OR-15 bots with seemingly endless health pools. And fuck those Slicers btw.
Retribution was even better. Plenty of battles. Mini-bosses with cool intros that made made me go "Oh fuck...." the first time I saw them. And that last stand battle on the rooftop was so incredible and butt-clenching exciting.
In both missions, my reaction when the Victory screen popped up was: "We made it. It's over. Hallelujah."
My reaction to the finish of Storm Rising was "Wait, that's it?"
I was expecting at least one more segment inside the fort.
Hmm, alright, so it seems like Blizzard is going to explain one of these day what exactly is the relation between doomfist & the omnic, talon fight for another omnic war and set up multiple human vs omnic conflict,
and it was weird to see that Maximilian was with them since he is himself an omnic and so the question was why would an omnic work with an human to make a war between omnic and human.
So, doomfist does believe that fighting for the omnic """""""""race""""""""" is noble but it is bound to fail, but also wish to help the guy at the end make it a success? Well, that's interesting. And perhaps the next release are going to be either echo or sojourn, or perhaps it is indeed that omnic showcased in the end. Of course there was no stake, no surprise in that end cutscene - A face reveal only work if you know the character by name beforehand so you can be surprised that it look like "that"
Felt like there was a missing boss fight.
Like if Uprising ended after you hit the blastdoor
Did D.Va or Genji get anything?
genji is in the update mission but other than that no to both
D.va never gets shit during the archives events
It would require actual work to tie in any of the "Why are they even here" heroes into the event.
This event is a special kind of bad, this is the event that they're supposed to pull out all the stops for.
Guess they don't even care about that anymore
apparently according to Ohnickels stream with jeff: D.va will get a skin "that breaks the internet" for Anniversary.
Clearly that means that they are retiring her, and her new skin will reflect the reason why
D.Va becomes a giant, bare foot. Appropriate noises are made when she runs.
WOW Blizzard knows how to underwhelm
Everyone seems to have the same "...that's it?" reaction to finishing it, how did that pass internal testing? How did not one single person say that it should have a final boss, or just at least one more ambush segment inside the fort? I know its a free update but like, the other two archives were MILES better than this one. The story mercs didn't even get any custom skins.
Honestly with the amount of reused assets this could have been finished in a month or two, going back to uprising and the amount of effort put into that is shocking in comparison to this.
Its short and the pacing is weird and the map will just dump 3 snipers on you at the same time and they basically one shot you on anything above hard. Its clear this didn't get anywhere near the work that the earlier archives updates did.
I have a hard time figuring how Havana will work as a regular map.
what took the most time was probably the cutscene at the beginning and the end, probably.
Sometimes I really do wonders if it truly take years to make a single cinematic like we used to get. They said it would be "bi monthly" HA! we were fooled.
I'm Havana hard time enjoying this archive mission
I thought the storm would be a much bigger focus but the characters don't even acknowledge it.
They absolutely aren't spending the whole year on these. I mean how can they when they're so busy working on a handful of skins and the overwatch league.
and I really thought that end scene was just the intro to the boss fight so boy was I surprised
Overwatch skins are outsourced, Blizzard barely makes any of them themselves.
The mech gets a short skirt.
And stockings.
The mech is more humanised while D.Va is turned into a mini mecha.
eSports machine broke
It seems like they spent all their money on non-stop high-budget competitions all year long for a game that people don't want to watch unless there's prizes attached to views.
Almost forgot, this update also pushes the PTR changes to Live.
Most importantly:
Junkrat
FRAG LAUNCHER
Projectile speed increased from 20 to 25
Grenades now bounce less but explode sooner
Reaper
SHADOW STEP
Cooldown reduced from 7 to 6 seconds
Can now be used in air
Time to exit Shadow Step reduced from 1.0 second to 0.5 of a second
Reaper is now invisible for the entire time it takes to exit shadow step
Railings and other breakable objects no longer block teleporting
Disabled by Zarya’s Graviton Surge and Junkrat’s Steel Trap
Symmetra
TELEPORTER
Railings and other breakable objects no longer block teleporter placement and teleporting
Even despite this year's mission being underwhelming, the Archives still feel like a piece of the real Overwatch game, and OVW the PvP game feels like a weird All-Stars spinoff no one really likes.
What I expected was a climactic battle against some secret weapon/future talon tank in the eye of a tropical storm, not pushing a payload in light drizzle.
Bi-monthly? That sounds awfully familiar...

Chokes, cheap ults, stuns, none of that would matter if Blizzard had the good sense to make OW a PvE game.
