Underwhelming is, ironically, an underwhelming way of putting it. This Archives, which to most of us seems to be the best event year round, is a thorough disappointment to everyone. Good job Blizz.
So guys how's the Storm Rising ev- ... ... Oh
So Retribution takes place 6 years before the present, and Retribution was 8 years before. So in the two years since Overwatch still hasn't been blown up because they still talk about morrison being in charge and the strike team getting shut down but every one stopped wearing OW uniforms at some point I guess.
The actual fact that's scary is, the genetically engineered Gorilla is perhaps the most level headed person with the most neutral standing morals in the entire Overwatch team. (Just don't break his glasses)
The reworked Torb and Symmetra are pretty fun and effective on the older events btw. Sym turrets against Slicers, teleporter to access better positions, and Molten Core against those Heavy Gunners.
Molten core just obliterates detonators and bastions, and its long range helps with those final Orisas on Uprising. Makes the difficulty spike of that final fight less of a pain.
I remember last year that Orisa was a good pick against the Bastions near the end. Not because she melts them or anything like that, but because Halt! can be used to pull them off their ledges, and they will stop everything to do everything in their power to get back to their perch.
No thanks, I was attracted to the hero shooter Overwatch, not to the wave-based ultra-repetitive PvE gamemode that's only good for one playthrought and then never changes a single bit afterward.
At least the cinematics where nice. I likes getting more maximilian and I likes how calm and collected Mercy were after catching him.
i mean, it wouldnt have to be boring like this if blizz would put in actual effort and not just recycle content. PvE based games/smaller gamemodes in games can be insanely fun and have a lot of replayability if devs apply themselves (e.g. mann vs machine) i love PvE and even i get bored out of my fucking mind after only about 2-3 hours of playing what blizz has cooked up. even worse with junkenstein, not having changed at all since its conception.
I think it's weird that Junkenstien keeps using that same spot on Eichenwalde instead of having an alternate mission on part of Black Forest
I don't like PvE mode tacked onto PvP game in general, it really never play out right and feels clunky and most mechanic are extremely basic and are built upon existing game mechanic. Mann vs Machine is the same, excepted that one is just unpolished to death. I don't want them to put actual effort on temporary PvE content I want them to put effort on the main modes, that is, more champion as there's a deep need for that, more map, and make more constant balance patch.
well then you're in luck, cos they put as much effort into this as they put into the main game, ie. absolutely zero
You say this as if the content they're making relating to these issues has had any effort in it to begin with. New heroes are always either degenerate or worthless, Hammond is the only exception I've seen to this The maps tend to be really samey and done with the same design mindset to the point where very few of them actually have their own identity apart from other maps. Balance patches speak for itself. I really dont know what I expect any more with this game, I have not played since last August and I don't see me going back to it any time soon. Its pretty depressing.
And I agree, which is why I should have said "Ideally" because what I said would imply serious change from blizzard to even make the effort. Althought you're really underselling Ashe, she's neither worthless or degenerate. She's just.. inferior to McCree and Soldier 76.. which is what it always comes down to in this game, characters covering the exact same niche but with a different coat of paint.
New evil omnic looks cool. Very reaper-esque
Finally got around to playing Stormrising. Looks like they programmed half a mission and called it quits because they got bored.
No, any game with microtransaction doesn't get to call it a "Free Update!", it has a price via microtransactions and declining gameplay due to those microtransactions.
Whats this 700mb update I'm downloading right now? Did they add the rest of Storm Rising?
Honestly, nobody should have had any hopes for this event beyond a little mission that introduces a new map. The in engine cut-scenes and the 2 hero teases were the bonus juice. Between lay offs, Activision execs only caring about OWL, and the fact that we were told last year that events were not important to the production team - I don't know what people were expecting from this. Now we know from Jeff that the production team is focused completely on feature content right now, which is what we need. We're supposed to get new features and a "PVP surprise" in May-June.
Right. No, Jeff's statement about not being able to split up resources between events and the main game is complete and utter horseshit still to this day. This is the one fucking event that they should have had all hands on deck for.
Different strokes for different folks, but I'd rather they have all hands on deck for permanent content.
I'm not saying I expected a whole coop campaign or anything, but considering this is Blizzard we're talking about and the fact the layoffs (supposedly) didn't affect the actual guys making the games I don't think its unreasonable to expect more than a 10 minute map with completely reused enemies from last years event. The core problem is people wait a whole year for this event, its basically the only one worth giving a shit about in terms of what it adds to the game, and Uprising and Retribution were both fairly substantial in what they had. If they released these every couple months then fine, I'd be totally ok with the same shit on a new map if you got one every 3-4 months but instead this is all we're gonna get for the next year.
Leaked new owl skins https://i.imgur.com/AZLShoV.jpg Take it with a grain of salt.
Yeah, the fact they're pretty slow with content release really makes people more critical of the content released. They say that longer time between characters allow them to make more unique characters, with more lore, better kit, and above all, it's because they don't want to be spread too thin on champion and they want to give adequate attention to every characters, but I tell you what, this ain't the case, even Riot Game managed to give attention to even the most lesser known characters, give them a unique kit when they used to release a new champion every 2 week. Heck, Udyr who's the most unplayed, ugly looking champion, has recently gotten a lore update. In a game with 143 characters. So OF COURSE, when they make claims like that, people are allowed to be super-critical, because there is absolutely no way Ashe's kit was designed in more than 1 month seeing how basic and generic it is, and the same apply to Orisa.
I want that mercy skin so badly.
If only it wasn't tied to a dead esport

So the fort had insides already modeled and done? Makes the lack of finale to the event even more disappointing.
It's weird. Both Live and the PTR were updated today, but no changelog or anything substantial.
