Well might as well get that Rein figure since I don't know when His Figma will happen.
I woke up today to Overwatch announcing a set of action figures which look like cheap US figmas (moreso than the actual figmas), as well as an Overwatch Monopoly edition. What have the game updates been like? Because it seems more and more like Overwatch wasn't a game being developed, but rather a media brand. It's reaching almost parody level of available products (Well, it already did with the scented candles, but that's neither here nor there), and it's been a long time since Ashe and any actual notable updates from what I can gather, besides the mandatory events.
who's been keeping the list updated? time to check off board game
You serious? Well fuck me. This list once started as a joke. Another tick it is then. Previous list Overwatch: The Game Overwatch: The Movie Overwatch: The Series Overwatch: The Clothing Line Overwatch: The Lunchbox Overwatch: The Breakfast Cereal Overwatch: The Flamethrower Overwatch: The Colouring Book Overwatch: The Lego set Overwatch: The NERF™ Gun Overwatch: The Battleroyale Mode Overwatch: The Boardgame Merchandising! Merchandising!
Where's Overwatch: The Scented Candles and Overwatch: The Socks
Does Tracer being the most cameo'd character in Ready Player one count for movie?
here's another question to that, since there is a Lego Overwatch theme and the Lego Movie has cameos in it. Did Tracer cameo in the Lego movie 2?
I remember the Nintendo Monopoly game faced similiar critisism (the properties were characters instead of you know, places from Nintendo games). Personally I would love for branded Monopoly boards to cram in as many references to the brand as possible, but remember it still has to make sense for for any player not familiar with the brand in question. So it makes sense for the jail to still be the jail.
TF2's monopoly board is better.
Is there even a reason so many media companies flock to Monopoly variants besides how easy it is to reskin the game? It's a notoriously bad board game, it was inherently designed as social commentary, it's not even a very interesting game design. At least companies like Star Wars get better games like Risk, Settlers of Catan, and special custom miniature games, and League or Valve's Portal? They all got their own specially made completely unique board games.
You can probably get a good deal on the licensing from Hasbro/Parker brothers/Whoever owns the right to the board game. It is also by far the most well-known board game so the potential audience is pretty big.
How do people feel about E-sport skins? I think they should have made E-sports skin for the winner only, and not mere reskins. Think something like the League of Legends' E-sports team skin. There is a lot of E-sport skin and I don't even understand why they made so many.
I kinda feel like some cool skin colors were "stolen" by something most of the playerbase probably doesn't care about in the slightest.
My objective opinion (and the established consensus on Facepunch as far as I am aware) on esports skins in one picture: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/211035/86f6994b-1627-4973-9b63-c0caaedfd385/paveikslas.png Oh gosh darn it
I like them a lot because they gave access to a lot of color swaps, I'm not ususally a fan of any Legendary skin which typically end up being over designed. A lot of Overwatch's designs look best at default so getting color swaps is fine by me. Dont watch OWL or care about it in the slightest, but I dont mind living it open muted on a different tab for recolors
I like the defiant because its basically talons color scheme so I can slap it on Reinhart and pretend its Reinharts evil brother.
I like the black and gold / white and G designs I think from "Dynasty" They look very good on most all characters.
And Blackhardt is just chopped liver?
Blackhardt is Rein from an alternate timeline where he watches a bunch of anime and refuses to wear a suit of armor unless it has a giant flaming mouth built into the torso.
Folks, I did it. I watched the OWL unironically.
They have it muted on a different tab to get the coins for the skins for free.
Like, who would watch those boring slapfight between two team where the game is decided by the first idiot who is out of position?
I have it on as background noise and usually look over when I see any team run something that isn't 3 tank 3 support which is about 10% of games. Even the commentators are bored of this shit and you hear the crowd boo when they switch to it.
Allow me to get on a high horse for a moment. While there are some skins I would like (pink reaper!) and as a Lucio main I am really interested in that emote. However, I am not willing to artificially inflate Blizzard's viewcount in exchange for exclusive content, just as I am not willing to buy lootboxes for a game that I have already brought full-price, even if there is an event-skin I want.
Truth be told I just wanted skin the shanghai dragon skins for the typical heroes associated with throwing. I think it adds a lot to playing competitive.

So cute! Now can you please focus on balancing the game and giving it some much-needed content?
Buy the monopoly set and the action figures and be happy, overwatch ain't a game, it's a marketing scheme
Meanwhile at OWL https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/arvlvs/owl_in_a_nutshell/
Absolutely disgusting AND unacceptable. Now watch as Blizzard does a huge reactionary patch notes that will effectively end GOATS but leave the characters extremely powerless simply because the patch notes intention wasn't to "Balance the game" but "To stop GOATS at all cost" this patch will have extreme change directly on the character kit and it's going to be the last we hears of GOATS. Woohoo, Blizzard. Casters, and spectators booing at a bad meta is a new one for me. The game professional scene has always been a joke.
