But it has the PS4 branding on it?
Placeholder pic probably
As a Parappa the Rapper fan I was so happy to have Parappa in Playstation All-Stars because of how little chance he had to be in anything else by that point. The first game may have helped put rhythm games on the map but if you ask most people about what rhythm game they know the best, you'd probably hear a lot more about Guitar Hero or Rock Band than any of the Parappa games. There are a total of three Parappa games, (not counting ports or remasters) and one is a spinoff that barely featured him. I genuinely believe that if Parappa had not been brought in for PS All-Stars then he would have not gotten that remaster on PS4, it is just a series that has not gotten much attention compared to the many other iconic franchises in Playstation's history. And seeing how none of the other games have been touched up as of yet, I can only assume that the remaster didn't see all too much money either. I'm not going to claim I know the history of every character and franchise in Playstation All-Stars, but I think it's absolutely incorrect to even imply that all of those characters were as popular or successful as the ones featured in Smash. Sure, there were some characters that were clearly established and famous; but there were a large amount that arguably had much less staying power than the iconic franchises that bring us all to Smash and this thread to discuss it. I even found out about some of those more obscure franchises like Gravity Rush, which had been exclusively released on the vita for only a couple months by that point, through PlayStation All-Stars. Looking at details like the level 3 supers, the profile pictures for online, the arcade cutscenes and rivalries for each character, I feel like SuperBot really did try to please people and create a fun game. The cast, despite having some popular additions, was sort of a haven for the less remembered characters and gave them exposure that really did help. (Gravity Rush got a sequel and a remaster of the first game on PS4, and as mentioned earlier Parappa got a remaster of his first game) The reason I'm saying all this is because, despite the game's flaws, there was effort put in to try to make things good. And dismissing their hard work by insinuating that they just ticked boxes off of a sheet of popular characters in Sony history is so unfair. And also, thank you to VinLAURiA for sticking up for this game when it's constantly accused of being nothing but a bootleg smash brothers. I would not have been inspired to speak up about how I felt if not for you actually defending the good parts of the game.
Just so it is clear, I'm not bagging on it because I think it's just garbage meant to make a few quick bucks. I grew up with Playstation before I had a Gamecube, Crash, Spyro, and Parappa were my bros when I was little (which is partially why I even responded about the B-tier crap - Parappa is not B-tier. The series, like I said, is partly why rhythm games got popular. He was a cornerstone of PS1 and Rodney Greenblatt is an incredibly talented artist). I wanted nothing more than for the game to be good. But unfortunately... you know.
I have only ever been hard on that game because of how much it disappointed me. Think about this: I'm not much of a Sony guy. I've only ever really owned Nintendo systems full-time, and played PC games on the side. My only experience with Playstation is via emulation, and via friends. PSASBR was Sony's chance to make me care about the Playstation's legacy, to get me thinking that hey, maybe I've really been missing out all these years, like what Smash has done for countless others who have only ever sat outside Nintendo's walled garden looking in. All it had to do was just be a good game, and... ... Oh.
The absolute most fucking infuriating thing in this game is how reluctant it is to just let you lose GSP. I'm stuck at a point where I'm losing literally every single game I play online. My W/L is 0.07. But no matter how many games I lose, I never dip below 60K GSP. Online is basically unplayable for me. I'm way worse than GSP thinks I am, and the system just refuses to let me play with people of my own skill level.
Matchmaking is based partially on roster GSP I think, so try playing with more characters to lower your average.
That's an issue too. I can't really pick up any new characters in online because they start at 3M GSP so I have a guaranteed 20 or so games that I need to lose in order to get it low enough. Multiply that by as many characters as I actually want to play, and it's just way too much work just to be able to play. Hell, I've played 40 games with Cloud and I still get my shit pushed in because the game refuses to let me lose GSP.

Are you playing free for alls? Because if you get second in an FFA you won't lose GSP.
no I only play 1v1
Meanwhile I've been having a really irritating problem where I lose enormous amounts of GSP from individual losses, taking upwards of half a dozen wins to recoup For example, I started today at 3.2mil with Duck Hunt. I lost to a Young Link, and lost almost half my GSP from that alone, dropping to ~1.7mil. I then lost again to a Wolf, which halved my score AGAIN, leaving me at <1mil after only two consecutive losses. I had to play almost twenty matches (and win 3/4 of them) just to get back to where I was. It's infuriating.
I've been talking to this to friends, but one thing I don't get is how Wario gets to have a little bit of mobility when it comes to his Up-B, but Little Mac doesn't. Why is that? I think giving him the ability to move to the left/right more could help him with his recovery game, as well as being able to use the Neutral B attack to charge up and fling back to the stage like what Ike can do.
Cause Sakurai dont like New Yorkers
Why are you comparing Wario to Little Mac? Little Mac is insane on ground, Wario almost completely relies on his jank
I said when it comes to his Up-B. Wario has a little bit of mobility when it comes to using his recovery since you can move side-to-side, but when it comes to Little Mac's it's just straight up.
Their Up-B's aren't comparable. Wario has insane mobility, Little Mac's up-B is solely a kill option and is meant to be bad.
Just because it's meant to be bad doesn't mean it should stay that way. The guy has the worst recovery options in the game and I don't think it'd hurt to make it move a bit little here to there so you can get closer to the stage instead of missing that one inch from the ledge, as well as giving him a fighting chance to get back up.
Almost like he was intended to have the worst recovery options in the game. If you think Little Mac could be buffed then yeah cool but comparing him to characters that aren't similar to him in any way makes no sense. Characters are balanced differently. Just because Wario's up-b looks similar doesn't mean they're even remotely comparable.
I wasn't fully comparing him to Wario/Ike aside from the Up-B/Side-B. I do get that Wario is extremely mobile in Smash Ultimate, Ike is a heavy hitting sword user, and that with Little Mac he's strictly a ground fighter with very little aerial options. Once you slap Little Mac half-way off the stage he's already dead when compared to others. I do wanna see Little Mac get better recovery instead of just accepting your fate once you're off the stage. Even if we accepted the "his recovery should stay bad cause his Up-B is a kill option" argument at the very least his Neutral B should be like Ikes so he could get a bit of a boost because other than his jump + Jolt Haymaker combo that's always used to fling back to the stage because when testing it out he gets very little movement when doing it mid-air.
I'm still so bummed about how they put the Onett theme in the game Onett finally gets its actual theme from Earthbound, with a pretty good remix, and for absolutely no reason it's paired with Snowman (instead of, you know, the song that the name implies), which already exists as its own separate track, completely messing up the pacing and mood I'd pick it pretty often if it was just a solid Onett remix but as it is I never pick it
I'm just hoping that if Porky is one of the unannounced DLC characters, that he gets in with a buttload of new remixes. I'm waiting on more of them battle themes man!

This repulses me on a primal level.
that looks like leather, don't worry, Yoshi might be a greedy and corrupt neoliberal free market freak tax evader but his felt counterpart is 100% handcraft material
i recommend checking out the thread, lot's of fun and interesting stuff he points out
