Marth is a much better name than Mars so I guess we lucked out on that one.
Prince Mars is actually very close to what his name would be, if romanized raw
マルス = Ma-ru-su ~ Mars
He is called Mars in the Russian translation. It's awkward.
He was romanised as Mars in the 90s OVA that got brought over, so we certainly would have gotten Mars had the Melee team not botched it.
Weird to think that there's a bunch of people out there who's first experience with Fire Emblem was with an obscure two-episode anime on VHS.
It's not really a botching at all. If it was pronounced Mars the katakana would've been Maruzu, it's more like Marce if anything

Aerith's Japanese name is Earisu (hence Aeris in earlier translations), so no, it's almost certainly due to "s" and "th" being used by "su" for some reason in earlier romanizations.
The irony is that Mars is a real name and the origin of the name "Mario" and that there's no language where Marth is one.
Granted, Marth over Mars is at least much better than Enix botching "Eldrick" as "Erdrick".

You know, for all it's faults, Smash 4 on 3DS is fun to just take out when you're waiting for something and smash some Level 9's with Ganondork. It's just satisfying.
I spent most of my time playing Smash 3DS instead of Wii U because it was much more fun thanks to Classic Mode and Smash Run.
Sm4sh 3DS is an amazing game. If it had Ultimate's roster and gameplay, it might be the perfect Smash game.
Speaking of 3DS, it's a shame that Smash Run is gone from Ultimate.

That's awesome and also way more parsable than the current stage select.
2.0.1 patch came out. Basically just fixes an issue with a certain Adventure mode challenge, among other small stuff. Dunno if it resolves the data corruption issue with Plant in All-Star.
The data corruption was due to fake sd cards
Ah. Never mind then.
It's kneecapped by needing to be played on a 3DS with its tiny buttons and not-really-an-analog-stick. The Switch being a portable just makes Smash for 3DS totally obsolete IMO.
To be fair, the Joycons aren't much better. I'm no fan of the 3ds's button layout, especially the shitty nub the New 3ds has, but it definitely worked well enough.
I wouldn't say any Smash game is necessarily obsolete. Every single one (including SSB64 and both versions of Smash 4) has things that every other release in the series lacks.
