Super Smash Bros. General v24: Joker Waiting Room, Please Take A Number

Sm4sh somehow feels like it's aged the most though. 64, Melee, and Brawl are all charming enough to still be a fun party game, but 4 just feels agonizing to play after experiencing Ultimate.
I'd say that Homerun Contest and the stage creator are what Smash 4 has over Ultimate, though chances are the 3.0 version of Ultimate is potentially going to bring those two in anyway.
Every Smash game feels totally unique to play, except fort Smash4
Smash4 just feels like a slower Ultimate, in hindsight
Smash 64 has its more unique systems and its gameplay still feels "okay" to go back to. Hell, it still has a (small) competitive scene
Melee has the tightest gameplay of any of the series and adventure mode is great
Brawl has SSE and the modding scene
Sm4sh has the 3ds version i guess which is cheap
Hey, don't shit on Smash 4, it was my favorite Smash Bros game until Ultimate came out and improved upon it in literally every way
Oh! Sm4sh has 16 Little Mac costumes. That's something I guess
I mean I feel like people go about this the wrong way, just to avoid the "Smash U is a port" train of thought
Smash 4 isn't a worse Ultimate, Ultimate is a better Smash 4.
I mean... It's okay to say Ultimate is just like 4, but better. You can't say "no, Smash Ultimate is an ENTIRELY different game, 100%" and then say that Smash 4 is the black sheep in compared to the charming nostalgia of 64, Melee, and Brawl.
Like, Smash 4 wasn't bad, which is a tone these conversations imply. Smash U is just better.
Oh definitely. I have hundreds of hours in 3ds and went to numerous tournaments for 4. It's just like others said, Ultimate kind of improved it to the point of irrelevancy.
Smash 4 is a worse melee.
Smash 4 is diet Ultimate without any of the flavor
Bowser is way more flavorful in Smash 4. In Ultimate they sucked all the color out of him
I have a lot of sentimental value in 4 since I played a lot of it with friends in freshman year of college.
That's what really makes one game special over another imo.
That's why I love melee so much, sooo many days spent in a dark room playing melee.
4 suffered needlessly because it had the misfortune of running on the Wii U
Unironically while Smash 4 is made totally redundant by Ultimate, all the hours I put into Smash 4 made me burnt out on Ultimate because so much is the same. I haven't played the game in weeks.
Smash 4 is far and away the worst game in the series.
I honestly think that 64 is the worst by today's standards
Smash 64 is outdated, but it still has a sense of personality.
Smash 4 is the worst in terms of personality because it doesn't really have.. anything outside of the incredible roster, and even that is outdone by Ultimate.
64 has the unique western comic book presentation, the mechanics like z-cancelling actually completely cancelling aerial lag, the lack of side specials, and the simplistic stage designs.
I'm still super pissed we never got the unlockable stage back, i think it's by far the most interesting out of all of 64's stages.
Smash 4 was by far the most "style over substance" that the series has ever been.
It had a lot of flashy new toys to play with like smash run and amiibo, but none of them were very deep. Aside from those, it's just a follow-up "fix" for Brawl's poor competitive reception.
I'd say Sm4sh's appeal was way more all the new and interesting characters and changes to character mechanics. Little Mac, RosaLuma, Pac-Man, WFT, Villager, they really went all-out with making the character's kits diverse, even though they also introduced the Swordie over-saturation.
Wii U was poorly marketed, but easily one of my favorite consoles.
I don't know how people can say this when Brawl exists. I don't play Smash for the single player and Brawl's multiplayer was absolutely busted.
I can't think of a single Smash game that is even remotely bad, so I can't say which one is the worst, because all of them served a purpose.
Smash 4 had the weakest single player next to 64 so it's my least played in the series. I only get a chance to play with friends sometimes and I don't like playing with random so most of my time with the series is single player.
smash 64 fucking slaps. possibly the best game on the N64 imo
Super Smash Bros. 64 was my starting point for Smash, but i still think Super Mario 64 is the best game for the Nintendo 64.
Have a coin.
The low poly models of Smash 64 have an incredible amount of charm, and I wish Sakurai and his team would capitalize on this and give us those models as alt costumes.
The fact that we haven't even gotten Sm4sh Link/Zelda/Ganondorf as alt costumes makes me incredibly upset. They're already basically all set up for the game, they'd just need a bit of work to make them work with the characters' new animations and attacks.
