Mobility becomes almost completely useless once you start getting into the circles. It's going to take a bit for higher-tier player to develop, but it's fairly obvious that once players become more consistent, know how the guns work, know how prevalent all forms of mobility are (most of my teammates still don't even seem to realize you can climb walls and buildings), et c, mobility like Pathfinder's will be... negligible, at best, at least in terms of versatility and usability.
When it comes down to the final 4-6 teams in a tight-knit circle, Pathfinder might as well not have any abilities, because his ziplines are insanely noisy and very noticeable in the bright blue sky, and that's where a lot of my higher-tier picks come from - Lifeline is insane because she can call down a bait ult drop, heal faster than any other character in the game, and her shield while rezzing isn't the greatest, but since she also rezzes faster, she's insanely consistent in her usefulness, and will almost always have at least mid-tier for her team thanks to her supply drops. Bloodhound can know where you are in an instant, and can, if ult is up, gain a movement steroid AND an enemy tracker with the press of a button - one that lasts 20 seconds, which is a VERY long time. Bangalore is obvious, she can get a speed boost while getting shot at, and her ult is one of two damaging ults in the game. Wraith's wraith form is a get-out-of-jail-free card, and it combined with her teleport make for a real potent positioning character.
The mobility option in a battle royale game is a double-edged sword in multiple ways. At the end of the day, I'd be silly to say you'd have more fun with a character other than Pathfinder, but Lifeline's quicker healing + loot drops + heal drone (which can heal all 3 teammates at once!), Bangalore's smokescreen for rezzing and dps ult, Bloodhound's tracker usability, and Wraith's safety are all going to be relevant late-game, while Pathfinder's isn't.
However, that being said, there is an argument to be made that his knowledge of where the next circle will be is incredibly strong as well. I'd say, if he innately knew where the next circle was gonna be, instead of having to find the beacons, he'd be a solid A in my book, maybe even top of the A's.
I think the neat thing overall is I never really felt any character so far has been OP or too weak. So far characters range from top tier to high tier without anyone feeling like a wasted pick which is a good thing for a hero-based game.
I think your idea of a tier list needs some work if you place Bloodhound in A for only one useful ability but Pathfinder B more or less because he doesn't have any attacking abilities. I can see where you're coming from but the degree of bating you can use his ziplines for and the ability to have complete overwatch over any position from ziplining up cliffs no one else can reach is insane. Sure, when it comes down to a fight, you have to rely on your own gunplay rather than get out of jail free cards, but getting into positions no one thinks to look or baiting people with my ziplines where they'd think i was long gone or that i'd not be paying attention to them has won me more than a few firefights. Overall though i agree with Nachy, each character comes into their own in individual ways without any flat out being better than the rest. Luckily Apex is in that early hero shooter stage where there's not so many characters that some invalidate or are just plain better than others, like Siege or Overwatch.
I managed to get a few games of TF|2 in last night. It was a series of mistakes into miracles. And I remembered why I fucking loved satchels now.
Threw one randomly at a Legion to just annoy it. Killed two pilots instead ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Having to relearn how to slide hop is what got me when I jumped back into it a few days ago.
I think you just saw what I said and went "oh only one skill is good then", and didn't consider how strong seeing where enemies are 100% of the time is in a BR game.
Bangalore is easily S tier, her smoke screen paired with the bizarre speed makes for some intense flanking, you can shoot a bit, throw screen, reposition the entire team and get a second shot at having the initiative in the fight, thus giving you +1s in the fight constantly, specially when the fight lasts a fucking huge time, her smokescreen can combo with nades and the airstrike too. It's also a fucking amazing bamboozle, since you can smokescreen an entire path and then use another and flank the target.
Gibraltar's shield can be used much like Winston's, where you're constantly going in and out of it, but enemies can basically do the same to you. Still, more often than not, you'll have the upper hand. It also combos amazingly well with Bangalore's smoke, giving you another chance at repositioning and leaving bad situations, plus there's nothing as funny as spamming two airstrikes and infinite grenades at the target.
Wraith is top tier, but only when you're playing in highly aggressive teams.
Caustic is only good in enclosed situations, and I usually carry as many grenades as I can possibly fit in the backpack, so I usually just cancel his advantage by spamming a fuckton of trash on his face. He can also lock doors by throwing his traps right in from of them, this can be countered by melee'ing the door twice to break it (or using nades), but not many players know that.
Except i use zipline getting up on cliffs as exactly how good Pathfinder is at exactly that.
And then everybody can see you, too, because your zipline is now out in the open, and you were riding on it, and you're up at a point where people can just look and see you.
Then you've got bad positioning. As i said, there's been a number of games where i've been able to stay hidden and take stock of what's going on up on cliffs until the last second and be able to get the win because i've known where they are but not the reverse. The ridges around Skull Town and the desert as a whole are excellent example of places to hide up. As well, again, they're excellent bait partially because they're so obvious, people are either going to think you're at the end and avoid the area, or the opposite and try to be aggressive, giving you a better angle on them.
You guys are arguing so much about tiers when in reality every legend can be S tier if you play them right
The real S tier is the friends we made along the way
12000 legend credits!
Now, to wait for a legend I find a little more interesting than the two unlockable legends we have now.
Or I'll cave and buy Mirage because he has voice lines that reference the "Bamboozle" meme that started in Titanfall 2.
So, I'm guessing we'll be seeing a bunch of new maps over the course of the game's lifespan? Can't wait to see what kind of environments they might add. Hoping for snowy mountaintops myself. Sliding down glaciers would be pretty dope.
I have lots of fun but god the crashing just discourages me from playing. Probably crash once every 2-3 jumps, and occasionally when I hit the ground. Made it to the final 3-2 a couple times only to have it crash
I have tried the methods you guys suggested, but now I'm down in the weeds trying random cryptic shit
I mean seriously, check out the support forum: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Community-Crashing-Troubleshooting-Guide/td-p/7447308
Update drivers, downgrade drivers, disable origin in game, disable origin sounds, disable your system's sounds, go to windowed, go to borderless windowed, go back to fullscreen, change the game to Polish
Seriously, some people are claiming it runs better under Wine. Wish there was a bit more acknowledgement from the devs about it
I'm just trying to form a coherent idea of how impactful some characters can be. I don't mind if people argue with my arguments - I haven't actually played a few characters myself, I've almost exclusively been spamming Lifeline and Bloodhound since I started - but it could help newer players. Maybe if I elaborated on what my tiers even meant it would've made more sense.
Over-all I agree with you, realistically until the game's meta develops literally any character is fine, but who doesn't love statistics? My train of thought goes like this -
(S Tier is just Lifeline and is exclusively because... she's insane, she has always useful utility, free gear, and is basically strong in every single way)
A-tier is always at least somewhat useful. They always provide something for any situation - long-range mobility-based scouting, short-range firefight and positioning, three person coordination and flanking, solo player 1 vs 57 gameplay, no matter your preferred combat, run and gun, sniping, tracking, mid-range rifles, or short range Peacekeeper abuse. There's very rarely a situation where they aren't useful in some way.
B-tiers are useful, but usually more useful with certain team comps - for example, Pathfinder. He has no abilities that affect direct gunplay, no DPS, and limited utility outside of his zipline. But, he has the unique advantage of knowledge of where circles will end up. Useless for the first ~5 minutes, and absolutely useless if you get into a firefight early game, unless you can zipline away from the enemies. But, late-game with, say, Caustic on the team, you can set incredibly powerful traps to essentially control the late-game field. Same with Caustic - his traps are basically useless if you don't know how to use them, and he's a bigger target than others. But, with a Pathfinder or Wraith to provide reconnaissance and higher mobility, or a Lifeline to set drop baits, and with a knowledge of how to properly use the gas, you are a lot scarier than other characters.
buy fart man, you won't regret it
You'd be very surprised on how often people potato the fuck out and shoot the straight running bamboozle mid CQC Peacekeeper fuckfest fight
This might be a huge case of exploiting the panicky nature of fresh pubbies in late-game, but I found the bamboozle stupid effective in strangling out squads late-game as they always shoot my bamboozle and get their asses spotted. Mirage's ult and passive are pretty weak though as anyone with any semblance of experience would know how both of them work and counter them completely 100%

Best fucking match ever. We completely swept the entire map killing everyone who got in the way. The best part was, both were randos and we just perfectly worked together.
Me, a rando and a friend fell on the market near the center of the map (close to the rivers), I found a shotgun and a pistol, but no heal. Dude got shot and I got there in the nick of time to save him from falling down, I yelled on the mic: "FUCKING HUG THAT DOOR RIGHT NOW", we both stood still by the door and the enemy team stood on the other side, not knowing they could melee the door and get to us.
The rando got their attention and then I opened the door and shotgunned a dude, it would've been funnier if a third team didn't swoop us down after the firefight due to no healing supplies (and them knowing that you can, in fact, melee the doors until they break)
Wow Caustic has some great skins

Honestly 90% of the reason I run caustic is because I like his voice.
Mirage has some great lines and his douchey confident personality really goes well with his entire schtick of being a trickster fuckwad
His lines when deploying bamboozles also never get fucking old
I love stand-offs that are just you and another dude shooting at each other and missing with the Peacekeeper in a tight room, it's like a fucking cartoon.
caustic has the same voice actor as blisk in titanfall 2

Did a nice save.
This is not correct, it's Fred Tatasciore, who's also Lastimosa from Titanfall 2 and Soldier 76 from Overwatch.
I just downloaded a 700mb update. Anyone know what this was about? I can't find anything on the matter.
Won a game where we managed to respawn 2 guys when theres 4 squads left and we looted some other group's bodies with 3 krabers on them.
