whats even funnier is that EA did the same exact shit with mobas with dawngate Which hopped way way WAY too late and no one gave a shit about it. They even did the same thing where they opened a beta and filled it with microtransactions. Surprise, it was DOA within 6 months.
Respawn needed something safe to keep the money flowing. The entire game feels like its playing it safe, this is from devs who went from trend setters with games like Call of Duty to trend followers. Its a competent BR game, but it hasn't really done anything to push the genre further as far as I know.
It really hurts to see the maps and the props taken directly from TF2 as they are just BEGGING to be parkoured on. You can even see glimpses of it when you slide down a hill, it's exactly like TF2.
Maybe they will re-add movement abilities through in-game means, like a character having a passive to double jump or making wallrunning something you get from care packages. As it is though, this game is great I think. Respawn’s excellent gunplay makes BR really intense and fun.
So what's the general opinion so far on the game?
Decent game, fun if a bit safe, bad omen for the future of Titanfall.
Well as much as I didn't want to, I genuinely enjoy this. Still not happy this is the direction respawn is going but shit, I wasn't expecting much after EA's mingling with T2. That being said oh my lord is the mastif overpowered as hell. I know its a legendary weapon and has limited ammo but you 1 shot people with it from ages away like you could in T2 while most other weapons have a much harder time getting kills. Just won by casually taking a stroll into a firefight and 1 tapping the last 3 enemies without any time for them to even react. Its a tad busted imo.
That's just the tip of the go fast iceberg. Sliding in TF|2 proper can get you around a map terrifyingly quickly thanks to the extra mechanics they stripped for Apex.
Yeah I just can't seem to get into this at all The movement is way too stiff and the wonkiness of triggering the slide compared to to TF2 makes the game actually feel clunkier than even Blackout. I'd rather have them bring back atleast double jumps along with the near instant slide trigger which would do a lot to make the movement much more smoother. Gunplay in Titanfall never really amazed me as the movement was the one thing that makes it all work together flawlessly. I literally feel like an amputated sloth moving in this game than TF2.
I miss wall running
while I miss wall running and double jumping, the game is actually pretty fun with the revive mechanics and the class abilities, pretty good twist on the same old dull BR formula
It hurts this is the direction Titanfall is going so far, but this really is the most fun BR game I have played so far.
I don't know why people think that just because Respawn made a game that isn't Titanfall that they'll never revisit Titanfall again.
The bad omen for the future of titanfall was when two critically acclaimed games sold poorly.
people insist the game needs titanfall mechanics because it's set in the titanfall universe, makes several references to titanfall, (mostly) uses titanfall aesthetics, shows the characters having titanfall mobility equipment, etc
As far as BRs go this is definitely the most fun and polished I've played. The fact respawns exist also help me fail like less of a huge failure when I die. I also feel like ts a lot easier to jump in and just chat with randoms, probably because of how they designed the squad system. In stuff like PUBG and Fortnite I'd be too nervous to go on mic in case I fucked up but it feels pretty natural here, especially since its such early days
i imagine balancing the map with parkour in mind would be a nightmare considering the size of it
Can't get my mic working in game for some reason, though it works in discord and what not

It's not like this is the first time a developer made an off-genre game inside the universe to their most famous IP. They want it to stand on it's own two feet while expanding the world they've built. They actually put thought into this instead of just shoving existing mechanics into a Battle Royale.
A TF2 update/map pack? A new mobile game? These 2 seem the most likely considering Respawns other projects
They could add TF gamemodes to the game at a later date, similar to how Fornite has Save the World.
I have to say the cosmetics in Apex all kinda... suck ass. I don't like any of the skins for any of the legends or weapons over their defaults.
I like tackiness of that dragon legendary weapon
I tried a match of Apex Legends and it was surprisingly fun. I got matched into a squad with two random people and the landing-mechanic where you all land in the same spot is neat, and so is the spotting-system. We communicated really easily with the spotting-system and shared stuff easily and were the second-last squad, we lost the final showdown just barely. It's in no way Titanfall, but it's its own neat little game.
Is it just me or do the characters look awfully ugly? It's like they couldn't decide whether to make them stylized or realistic so they just did it in the middle.
They're not... great. I think that's half the reason I like Bloodhound the most.
They say by the end of the year. Does this just mean that they are going to release cinematics or story bits for Titanfall? Or actually work on something where we can get some good old large robot wall running goodness?
Realistically it won't be a new game. Between them supporting Apex and their Star Wars game I don't see that happening. For me it's just good to hear that Titanfall- not Apex- is still on their mind.
Played a few rounds after work today, really enjoying it and usually i'm the kinda person that doesn't really play BR on my own(without people I know) but been enjoying it with randoms i'm a bit shit but getting used to it, did pretty well last round, 4 kills, which is an improvement over 0 kills
