I see so many complaints about performance, what are your specs and what is the max temp. ingame? This game is absolutely nuts and if you don't cap your framerate it absolutely will heat the fuck outta your GPU and drop your framerate. Other than that, I get absolutely flawless performance on an RX480+R7 1700, no overclocks, with -30% power limit on the GPU.
The game runs fine for me, having tons of fun. I'm so bad at BRs though. https://clips.twitch.tv/YawningHonestShieldDuDudu Here's a dumb clip from my attempts at being good.
Who do you guys prefer playing in this game? I love Bangalore. The double one-button smoke is such a good tool. And it synergizes well with Bloodhound if you have one in your squad, which I usually do im finding.
Btw you can actually find pricey bois scattered around the map https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/233659/227268a5-4d21-4c56-8f79-cadfdf79e2ae/image.png punch them and they'll give you free shit
Man, ticks fell on hard times. From delivering "surprise packages" to actually delivering surprise packages.
Pathfinder just because I was a honkin grappling hook main in TF2 A lot of the old TF2 hook tricks still work like looking away from the grapple point with a large radius to slingshot you at ridiculous speeds and a portion of that speed is kept by sliding when landing. If solos were a thing, then you'd see me cover entire fields every few seconds at mach speeds. His ult of deploying ziplines is also super useful as you can deploy them at large distances and very easily escape people or cover an even larger distance than the hook.
lore that's set several years into the future. also it makes sense that both factions would leave when there's nothing left on those planets. i think it's pretty neat that some of the weapons reflect this jump in time, such as the r-301 and the r-99.
Add a "Pilot" character, that has no active abilities but just has double jump and wallrun.
I guess it helps that almost every game I've played so far has my squad ending up being one of the last 3 or 4 left along with shoving one victory with a 2 man squad. Game's great, but the constant itch of wanting to hop slide at 40kph won't ever escape me
Apparently cross-platform us in the works Apex Legends cross platform support
Pathfinder, because I can finally Hi-Five something that looks like a Marvin, even if I am the Marvin giving myself a Hi-Five. Also, the grappling hook allows you to gain some massive momentum.
So last night I went into Windowed mode, about 10 minutes after doing so, my computer's performance started dropping massively, to the point where I had to force a restart, I don't know what the fuck caused this problem either. Windows 10, GTX MSI 980, i7 8700k, 16 GB 3200Mhz RAM, running off an SSD.
To add to that, I went back on with Dynamic resolution enabled for more stable performance, I got carried by one guy I was with, I can't aim for shit and when shit kicks off, I can't make out what's going on either, it's moderately annoying.
Got the classic source "repeating gun firing sound that doesn't stop" bug today. Wouldn't mind a console to use snd_restart on.
You may have the receiver upgrade that allows you to select firing modes. The default keybind to switch is B
F for console players when they fight PC players. Also for real, the more I play this thing the more im enjoying it. It feels weird to actually have a good time playing a BR game when all previous ones have felt really bland to me, even in these trying times respawn manages to make the best games.
I actively avoided these things whenever i saw them because I thought they'd explode like the ticks in TF
It's fine. Nothing stellar, i like the characters, but it's just...fine. If it still had at LEAST double jumping and similar momentum, it'd be great, but as it stands it's just fine. I will say, the map design shows how long they did have wallrunning and double jumping in before removing them, a lot of areas seem designed around it.
Tried it - hated it. Battle Royale just isn't for me. The movement requires no amount of skill and it made me want to go back and play Titanfall 2, which demands actual skill for kills.
Another big no-no for apex legends from my POV, gameplay-wise, is the lack of a lot of the unique projectile/grenadier weapons. Like, the L-STAR, EPG, Cold War, and Softball are just so damn fun and rewarding towards gameplay that utilizes the mobility system to its fullest extent in TF|2.
I'm not surprised that there are people who unironically think removing mobility options would increase the game's depth. I'm sorry, but the added possibility of a person being able to escape quick via mobility is completely negated by how large and open the BR map is along with how the person chasing also has the ability to close the distance quickly. That would add another element of skill separation in terms of utilizing mobility to make or break encounters. Not to mention that reduced mobility only brings the game down to be like other BR games where the best course of action in most group fights would be to spam grenades to the opposition's cover while taking occasional potshots. Depth, strategy and tactical does not equal to being as slow as a fucking brick on tarmac.
I chatted to my housemate who did a bunch of research on this while thing and it seems that the decision to remove the wallrunning etc came from that it apparently messed with the balance of the game to the point of breaking it. Because they wanted stuff like armor/shields and certain weapons to be rarer than others etc it meant that some weapons such as snipers became Op as hell while stuff like shotguns were basically useless (at least, in comparison to what they currently now) which left them with something basically not possible to balance in the way they wanted. There was also the argument about it being a skill based mechanic which is oppressive to newer players and to that I can somewhat see where they are coming from. When I first picked up titanfall I got utterly shit on for ages till I learned all the mechanics and how to use them to their best so releasing a game to the current market of "everyone has a BR game" that pushes away new players would have been a fairly shit business move, even if it would probably have attracted more skill based players the numbers would have been lower overall. That being said it wouldn't suprise me if it was also in part that they weren't able to design a map capable of supporting that many players while also being wallrun friendly, Titanfall 1's maps were way better in that regard than the new ones from 2 so its not unlikely it just wasn't doable. Still shit tho.
I'm not sure how I feel about apex. It's honestly one of the most solid BR games I've played. But I always end up playing only 2-3 matches, then switch to TF|2 for several hours...
Hopped back onto TF2 for a few hours since people are actually on it again. Man am I so satisfied with the few rounds I played. Bouncing off and running wall to wall, dropping satchels from above, grapple hooking into my Scorch, and wrecking people in mid air. Preaching to the choir right now, but fuck if it didn't give me a fresh of breath air in my gaming routine. I can understand the choices Respawn made to make Apex a BR game, but man do I wish they would just go back to making fast pace arena shooters.
I don't like BR games. But Apex Legends is insanely fun, the gunplay is really satisfying. There is not much content - but fornite had the same issue at the start. I hope this gets really popular.
I was playing Apex with my brother. He doesn't usually play FPS games. We were sliding down a big hill and he did a big ass jump at the bottom and said "The movement in this game is so good, I wish they made a game with more of this kinda stuff" I screamed internally
Just got my first win, woop
I never realised you could break down doors via gunfire/melee. Time for some breach and clears. Also if you climb up a wall you can stop at the top to peak over without clambering on it
It makes me so sad to hear my coworkers saying how good the movement is in Apex. Ahhhhhhhhh.
But you need to realize for 90% of people that play games they don't engage with games that have complex movement systems, they're used to things like CoD or Halo where you basically can jump and hop over things. Its a good thing they're enjoying the movement in Apex because you can use it as a leaping off point to get him into things that have more involved mobility options. If you take someone that's never really engaged in games with actual mobility and dropped them into titanfall 2 they probably won't get the hang of it and will get dunked on by people who do know. Which will just turn them off and send them back to what they know.
