After LACB and CALB, I've got to say this is really an inspired effort, and the fact that the goodies this time are literally tied to essentially breaking the game is pretty brave on Capcom's part, usually the only guy who minded maximum cheese throughput was Itsuno.
The one thing that seems off however is weapon effectiveness/role, esp in hardcore. Just no sense made other than 'make sure you have all the weapons cause _____'
Ada's Veep does peepee damage but apparently has some batshit crit rate because I ended using 11 rounds during the last playthrough and maybe 16 the first? Body shots did basically nothing but head or leg shots were virtually guaranteed to remove the offending part within three shots, several times blowing off the head in one shot.
Birkin is weak as hell to the flamethrower, except for G5, which takes almost no damage at all, which is pretty fucked if you end up saving it for him in B cause it was easy mode before that
The shotgun is mostly great for zombies, mostly not great for anything else on hardcore but then it wrecks X a new ass because why not
The Spark one shots virtually anything and two shots a full health covered-eye G-Adult, but you really really don't wanna use this on a boss unless you stun the hell out of them and even then the damage is enh.
The mac does great dps, thus obvious boss utility but using it on peepee enemies tends to yield wildly inconsistent results.
Acid rounds are supposed to wreck live stuff versus dead ... but frankly they suck compared to fire aside from the 1-2 ivy combo or knife combo on lickers.
Basically the only weapons that work consistently are the SA and the Hawk.
Never seen that but I did one shot a licker once with with 1911, which might be the same since lickers don't trend to explode.

Remember that all the cop zombies that attack you, and you possibly murder near and in the office with the "Welcome Leon" party stuff most likely are the very same people that were preparing to throw Leon's welcome party, including the game of learning their names to unlock his desk.
is it worth doing claire b rn? or should i wait for a patch to fix some of the "inconsistencies"
Wow this looks great. I was a little bummed that 1st person wasn't included in the game, despite using the same engine and similar controls. Could've been a neat unlock along with a classic fixed camera mode.
it would have been super cool if certain police zombies actually had their nametags or similar clues so you could figure out where each of them died. correct me if i'm wrong but we never actually find out what happened to Rita Phillips, Neil Carlsen or David (the guy who wrote the note warning you about the lickers)
On the topic of unique zombies, I kinda feel like there's slightly too few zombie models in the game. After a few rooms you've already pretty much seen them all. In fact I'm fairly certain every single one is seen during the intro run to the station, there's even a zombie USS guy out there. I would have liked to have seen more than one female cop model for example, or hazmat zombies in the labs, or USS zombies still wearing gas masks.

Man I'd love to play using that first person mod. Makes me wish that I had bought the game on PC instead of PS4.
It works shockingly well.
Until you play 4th survivor, also has some issues with CALB.
I'm interested to see how it looks when you get grabbed by a zombie or a boss.
3rd person, also if you get motion sickness avoid hunk and tofu or take a whole bottle of dramamine and eat an entire cinnamon.

Can you get the No Herb and No Item Box rewards on Assisted difficulty?
Yes, if you get an S+ you also get the S rewards from what I can tell.
speaking of the original...
I can't get enough of the original soundtrack. I've said it before and I'll say it again: its fucking perfect. The last time I've been this creeped out during a standard walk down a section of a game was in FEAR 2 Project Origin, during the school media room bit, and thats JUST because when you go through that part, its just fucking unsettling as hell from start to finish with pitch black darkness, strobbing monitors, half dead soldiers whining in pain, spectres attacking you, shit banging around and Alma showing up every now and then in her emaciated status.
This however... I just walk into a fucking hallway, that has nothing special other than maybe being a bit torn apart, or maybe not even that, the music starts, and it sends chills down my spine. It provokes this disturbing feeling in me that stresses me out, despite knowing that nothing is gonna pop out at me. Hearing enemies around the corner is less of a scare than the soundtrack itself.
The original soundtrack just has this ominous feel throughout. This lingering obscure morbid feel that bangs you suddenly by the middle.
And thats just the first floor track. The second floor track sounds like you're looking at the aftermath of a war between the undead and the now deceased living. Depressing horror, and it sounds fantastic.
Even the library track that does sound like its all about finding clues and go forward in puzzles, gives you a sense of alerted urgency.
then we get to the basement...
The fucking basement.
It sounds like you're descending to a dungeon filled in darkness, where you're most likely gonna see hideous things that shouldn't exist, and most likely die to them. It feels sooo haunting, its so fucking good... I remember walking around searching for clues in the remake and just be creeped out, even from just standing still and hearing the damn thing. Every track does that feel, but this is especially soul crushing.
The marshalling yard, which someone else here talked about, is another great adition. It feels so morbid, its fucking genius.
The underground laboratory is more of a feel of loneliness, always with the sense of urgency to it, and danger, and a few bits of it kind of remind me of the first RE.
If Capcom goes ahead with RE3 and gives the same options as it did with RE2, like original soundtrack and such, I'm very sorry to do it, but I'm gonna preorder it on the exact day I'm able to do it.
So the 1st person mod looks great, but it is a tad disorientating, decided to give it a test whirl
Yes, that's what I did. The thing that made it interesting is doing it with the Minimum Steps achievement.
Rita and Neil's status is unknown, unfortunately David wasn't having a great day.

nah she's in hunk's run and in leon's in a completely different area so...
P sure she's also one of the 'screaming groupie' outside the barred windows on 1F West most north and west hallway where you need to board a window right before the double doors.
You can turn down the camera shake. It helps significantly with the wobbley-ness of it. I think my next playthrough is going to be solely first person. I really hope that Capcom decide to add an official first person mode like GTAV did.
