Yeah NES do not interest me at all to get the membership. I still don't have it and I refuse until they fix the problem with it and add SNES and N64. I really don't know what they were thinking with Nintendo Online
I have been kinda scared about hacking my SNES mini just in case I wanted to resell it at some point. But I don't think it will have much resell value later.
It's extremely easy to flash your original stuff back on it assuming you follow the instructions and backup everything
Hakchi also has a factory reset option to get rid of the custom firmware and restore your SNES Classic to exactly as it was out of the box.

senran kagura touchy feely coming exclusively to switch VR
Nintendo really likes to pull new Labo announcements out of thin air, huh?
Well, shit. Mat Pat actually called it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOUPbSakz9M
MatPat should never be posted anywhere
i have several complaints about nes online japan only releases: who cares if they weren't released over here, most don't need a translation beyond "hit these buttons, get to the end, have fun" and the ones that do could have a disclaimer. joy mech fight and mysterious murasame castle would be rad to play. heck i'd mess around with FE1 to practice my japanese. missing games like earthbound beginnings. come onnnnnn but at least i can start zelda with lots of items not really because i don't pay for nintendo online because it looks kinda shitty
The Japan only releases thing is null since you can easily download the Famicom app and play the games that way on your normal NSO account
To be fair WarMech is an optional fight that's equatable to a superboss. If you ask me it's only fair to assume it's ballbustingly hard.
So I never bothered reading any guides after I'd already beaten FF1, but yo, WarMech is on a bridge you have to cross to complete the game, between the third and last Fiends. I'm not aware of any way of avoiding that fight on the original cartridge when you're forced to walk through it. Maybe I just missed the easy exit around it, but I'm pretty sure I tried finding ways around it and couldn't. If you played a remake of the game then it'd be completely understandable if they'd moved WarMech to optional bonus boss status, since it's legitimately the hardest boss in the game and after grinding to be able to beat it, the rest of the game was a snooze.
And how many of them are/were regularly playing those NES games Just because they bought it doesn't mean they're thinking "ah, finally! This will be my new form of recreation, forget BotW or Smash Bros anything on Xbox!"
I checked this online to reconfirm, Warmech has approximately a 1/64 chance of appearing on the 5th floor of Tiamat's dungeon. It's optional.
Oh, right, I forgot that I learned that piece of trivia years ago. Fuck me, it appeared on me and I didn't know that I could just duck back down a floor.
Wait, can you do that without a separate japanese online subscription? If that's true that's pretty neato, for some reason I thought that was region locked
I just wish there were Castlevania and Megaman games on Switch online. Those are the kind of games that kept me playing on my Nes Mini.
I don't think that's relevant when NES games are pretty short and can't be compared to modern games and the question is, are NES games still fun to play in modern times. Which there is still a large crowd that enjoys them and yes, still plays them.
I still play and enjoy NES games to this day. The big problem is most of the games on offer on the Switch are ones we've seen and played many, MANY times over now. It would be cool as hell if Nintendo kept doing those weird ROM hacks they've done with a few of their older games and take that concept further, seeing as getting other third party NES games probably involves paying royalties and other legal bullshit. Stopping the dripfeed nonsense would also be nice.

I know it's old hat but I really wish Gamecube games got re-released at some point. That's the only console where none of Nintendo's games ever get the chance to escape from. By and large GC didn't have a *TON* of good games on it, but there's some serious gold that really needs to be picked up. Not even talking about obvious shit like TTYD but give me Lost Kingdom 1 + 2 I remember those being *okay*. Give me another re-release of the original pikmin 1 and 2. Let folks who liked Symphonia play it. How about Beyond Good and Evil 1? Skys of Arcadia? Super Monkey Ball DX? Just let me play some of those classic ass games without getting fistfucked by ebay or local pawnshops. I'm in the camp that NES games just aren't fun 90% of the time. There's a few classics here and there but they've all been done to death and all they have left outside the usual suspects is absolute dogshit. It's not even something the rumored SNES games will fix as you just *know* all they'll give out is Super Mario World, Link to the Past and those usual faces.
I was sitting here moping about no Genesis virtual console, then I remembered that Sega released a collection with fifty games on it for 30usd. So there's that at the very least.

Supposedly Alliance Alive is getting an HD rerelease on PC, Switch, and PS4.
I hope that HD rerelease do some rebalance because from what I heard some of the fight are harder than it should.

Okay let's do a quick poll, two years in: Which type of Joycons do you use, the standard black ones or the colourful ones? When the Switch was launching I had thought that the black ones would be far more popular, but it looked like the red and blue ones were more popular, so I'm curious to see what people use. So rate Informative for stock black/grey joycons, Artistic for colourful joycons, and Winner for variants like the Splatoon or Super Mario Party joycons. We'll leave modded ones like the atomic purple ones out of it since this is about base choice.
I'm going to upgrade to black and grey joycons at some point because I like minimal visual distraction on what I put next to my TV. Only got the red/blue Switch because it came with Mario Kart. I think the sticks are loose on these things to boot.
I have the stock black/grey joycons because I was gifted a launch-day Switch and didn't get to choose, and in Canada pairs of joycons in any variant are $99. I want to get the Splatoon joycons or even just a second pair that I can mod with custom shells (without risking destroying my only working joycons) but fuck me that's a steep price over being picky about plastic colour.
