Some parts of the game are much more demanding than others. I haven't gotten to the last area yet, but caspian was wayyy more demanding than the first snowy area. My 2080 is struggling to keep 60 fps on 1440p ultra rtx high. At worst it can even go to low 40's.
Yeah I'm not too far off, but I'm hoping I can power through any more demanding areas once I get there, and if not I'll just tweak some stuff or turn on DLSS. Still happy with the performance and visuals either way, definitely one of the best real-time showcase for ray-tracing right now.
If it's a matter of the expansion pass or a spin-off then I'd be happy to play as someone else with a voice back in Moscow before, during or even after Exodus. Exodus itself is about experiencing the novel's world in a way distinct to the previous games and playing as a talking protaganist back in Moscow could achieve the same sort of thing.
Last Light's DLC let you play as Pavel and I felt his mission struck the best balance between stocism and reactivity out of all the missions. Like when Dishonored's DLC put you in the shoes of Daud, giving the player a voice without compromising on the choics they could make.
Has anyone actually seen the evil ending, it really is wild: bloody khan, bourbon and some old friends show up. bloody Khan is just dissing you and saying you're basically gonna be stuck in the train forever. It's much more interesting then the good one.
DLSS really seemed like a lost cause from the first implementation (BF V is just as bad) but it's not bad at all now:

I managed to play for around 1 hour of the game and it crashed, i found out that i was playing with an old driver for Nvidia and updated it.
Now i can't even get past the splash screen without it CTD every time i boot the game.
Okay that's a whole lot better, doesn't look too different from TAA, gonna use it now once I can play again.
Maybe try rolling back the driver?
Try verifying cache (Steam) or repair install (Epic Store). If it might be still driver related, clean and uninstall your GPU drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller DDU.
Oh man, it looks like an ugly photoshop filter now. What a shit technology
Yeah I can't even see the difference tbh
I've tried verifying it a couple of times, gonna try rolling back the driver tomorrow.
Everything now looks like smooth brush strokes, and has this painterly texture. Imo what has happened is that the DLSS is just as blurry as it was before, it's just now had a sharpening filter applied and it looks gross.
It's a bit more obvious on the shot with the trees. It uses a form of sharpening to counteract the blurring. (DLSS is using a lower-res signal to upscale towards the system's native res with an AI i.e. if you're on 4k it uses 1440p signals, and if 1440p it uses 1080p signals). I think it's an alright solution all things considered since it does provide a sizable performance boost, and post-patch DLSS' side-effects probably won't be too noticeable in motion.
Worth noting that those pictures I posted are zoomed in, here's the original full size ones:

Obviously DLSS is never going to look as good as native res, it's still coming up with pixels that don't actually exist in the source image. It only has to be "close enough" to the point where the artifacts aren't too distracting.
You're so painfully wrong that it's not even worth arguing about.
No. They're aimbotting. I've legitimately seen them SNAP TO ME. Speaking of which. What is it with Anna specifically sliding around? If you go to fast I've made her ski off of objects. It's really weird and sticks out
I know what you guys mean, but I just can't help but find the terminology of aimbot in this case funny since we're referring to AI characters
I don't remember seeing much aimbot.
I haven't experienced aimbotting but I have had some laserbeam accurate enemies, e.g. I was all the way up o top of that crane in the desert and some enemies on the ground were able to hit me consistently with standard kalash's and even a bastard. The tracers were even in a straight, unwavering line right towards me.
Well a lot of the games are laser beams in the game and I'm sure the guns they have, have the exact properties as Artyom's
That's probably because of weapon degradation? I didn't notice anything of the sort apart from a few weirdly missed headshots, but that's to do with hitboxes most likely.
Its really a shame just how little there is for metro merchandise. Aside from the few collectors editions there's pretty much nothing
it makes me sad they haven't partnered with Vostok to sell functional variants of the 2033 watch
I love the motion sensor, it makes things less scary, but also kinda tenser at the same time.
i love this game. i kinda didnt know it but ive wanted a game like this for awhile now, completely linear story stuff with some mild free roam exploration. im really sick of big open world stuff (especially the ubisoft model, the bethesda model hasnt grown old to me, even if all the new entries suck)
if the game was any bigger of a commitment i probably wouldn't be as into it, especially if it did what ubi does and pad out all the side content with the same couple prefabs over and over
Kinda just annoyed me the sound, so I just went back to the compass.
I just finished the game. Holy fuck that last level was like slowly trudging through hell. The leeches, giant leeches, and flesh corridors were a tiral, and then you get out and think you're in for some psychedelic cutscene shit when the Asshole Librarians appear. I ran out of cans and had to use throwing knives for distractions, one of the apes heard me on the broken glass and accidentally nailed it right between the eyes when I tried to throw a knife past it to make it look away,
Got the good ending. I really liked it, though I would have liked a little more with Artyom and Anna, since you spend so long going through hell to save her. I'll have to look up the bad ending on youtube, though I assume it's just that half the crew are dead and there's not enough blood to save you.
Seems like the previous driver was the culprit.
Nvidia released a new driver and everything is working.
So is this worth picking up if you're a big stalker fan? Everything I've seen of this metro just reminds me so much of STALKER but I was off put by the switch to the epic launcher
