Well, VNN is apparently going to make a video about what it's like to work at Valve. I'm assuming he's been in contact with several ex-employees? I'm anticipating that this video won't be positive.
its another valve is bad episode
You say that like this isn't the case. Valve went from being an innovator in the games industry, to just another massively out of touch libertarian asswhack of a company, that releases quickly-dead games and puts resources into the opposite of things their consumers want.
Yeah, this really is a terrible oversight. Tyler should balance out his content with more positivity; I mean, there's so much to work with!
I've heard that now that Richard Garfield and his team of consultants have been laid off from Valve, there is so much more room for activities!
Libertarian Valve would be an improvement; that would imply they follow market demand and produce what the consumer wants to buy. Current Valve is more like a commune of disorganized hippies; I'm sure they're all very nice people, but whereas their aloof attitude and disinterest in profit was once charming and encouraging, it now just feels frustrating as they're seemingly incapable of giving the people who support them what they want to see. Back in the day, we applauded them for not being as greedy and incompetent as EA or Activision, for their "I'm not like the other devs" approach to game-making, but now we've reached the point where they can't even make good on shit they've started over half a decade ago. If they just wanted to pack it in and become "the Steam company", that'd be fine. But they're basically holding properties like Half-Life and L4D and TF2 hostage while all the artists and writers and designers who desperately want to keep these worlds alive grow frustrated before saying fuck it and leaving. Remember, Makani basically said "yeah Valve is pretty much the only thing keeping that last comic from coming out", same with that one fellow who quit and leaked what was supposedly the plot of Half-Life 3. A few more bombs like Artifact and I'd be shocked if we didn't see some kind of massive internal shake-up at Valve.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gI_xonw-1sc https://i.imgur.com/wpVvJsp.jpg I'm not going to fat shame Gaben or anyone else, but I do think the expression "the fish rots from the head down" applies here. Gaben stopped giving a fuck a decade or more ago. His interests lie in things besides video games these days, like auto racing, knife production and souse vide cooking. I honestly think he'd be happier if he retired from Valve. I'm not sure his departure and the resulting power vacuum would improve the situation at the company in any way. A Valve without Gaben would be shaken out the complacent stagnation that has consumed it for so many years now. Not even Artifact's miserable failure appears to have done that. Valve needs leadership that gives a shit. Gaben only cares about cars, boats, knives and steaks. Okay I fat shamed him a little there.
But who doesn't like steak?
Cows
But does it occur with the festive version as well, where the projectile doesn't have to be scaled (I think?)
oh its the case when it comes to the customer perspective, I aint denying that
Probably an issue related to them switching the projectile model from an actual crossbow bolt to a syringe from the syringe guns. Hopefully they fix that if/when the next update hits
I presume the Festive Crossbow doesn't have this problem since it fires custom projectiles?
I'm in no position to test it because I don't own a festive crossbow
This is denialism at it's finest. The customer experience is the only thing that matters, because that is what we are paying them to create. That's how this industry, and more broadly capitalism works. Would any of us even be here to tolerate valve's nonsense if they hadn't created and are still somehow sitting on one of the most unique and enjoyable team based gaming experiences in history? No. Besides, they hold several falling grades on customer service, and an F rating per the Better Business Bureau. As well as several former employees having gone on rants. So I'm really not sure what you're scraping at. You know fluury you've always reminded me of the main character in the Lego Movie, detailing how everything is awesome as the world comes apart around him. It is much easier to admit that the goose is fucked, and hold valve accountable for it rather than trying to find some redeeming lining.
Is it easy to test? I have a festive cross bow...
So tf2 is abandonware now.
Jill is still working on trying to fix TF2's Mac memory issues.
????? I am agreeing with you dude, however Id imagine that the worker experience is likely better for a decent piece of people working at valve than the customer experience of half life fans
obviously the solution is simply to create tf2 auto chess this will breathe New Life into the game
arrow-based projectiles all have this same problem of not rending the model in it's first few ticks of lifetime. (tested it out with huntsman arrows, rescue ranger bolts, festive crossbow bolts, and even the grappling hook projectile) however, crossbow is the only projectile with a trail that isn't very visible, so it's definitely the biggest problem out of the rest of the arrow projectiles. also, i just want to say how much i hate the crossbow's projectile, it looks so ugly and lazy being just the syringe model upscaled by 5.... i wish valve would just make a unique projectile for them like they did with rescue ranger bolts
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41XgkLKYuic 30 minutes of Tyler imagining what a 5 alarm goatfuck it is to work at Valve.
seems about it. really annoying when you love reflects, but I couldn't really pin point what was so annoying about these though.
At this point, I just hope that Valve will fail miserably. Pretty much every their project in the last 7 years is out of touch with customers and the company we all love is gone a long time ago. P. S. Tyler starts to report on Valve - Valve stops releasing anything. Tyler starts to report on Bethesda - Bethesda releases Fallout 76.
Pretty bad mindset. You should hope that Valve improves and stops being out-of-touch in a variety of areas, instead of wanting them to fail out of revenge for failing in some areas.
Well, my point is more like: if even not shipping a single game in 6 years and then shipping Artifact hasn't made Gabe consider changing things then only some really big failure can. It's not like they would run out of cash in our lifetime. I really start to understand when Tyler welcomes Epic Store even with really bad policy.
I believe Tyler has reported that after Artifart, valve appears to be changing up a bit. But as you know Valve, youll be lucky if your children get to see that change.
Remember, Makani basically said "yeah Valve is pretty much the only thing keeping that last comic from coming out" I never heard of that, do you have a source ?

Well, 2018 is officially the year with the lowest amount of updates in tf2's history. There were more updates in 2007 than in 2018. Can't miss my chance: called it.
