Afaik the most recent feedback we've received was some medal business, that's all. There should be an update soonish that'll add medals.
no. we always had some bare track or hint along the years before any major update but this is the first time we went 1+ year with zero word. heavy update isn't even confirmed still and the only evidence that's being brought up is "people talk alot about it on forums".
Nope. Not even an acknowledgement about bugfixes, which we asked in February.
All of those features were developed with the intent to foment customer attachment and facilitate additional sales and consumer investment. I'm not saying such a thing is insidious--in fact, it's rather intelligent--but you cannot deny its purpose. Yes, if you removed the store, Steam would begin to hemorrhage users and become irrelevant, even if a small portion of users continued to enjoy its additional characteristics.
it made me realize the buffed YER is a griefer's wet dream cause med beams are never lost. at least with the old YER they had to work hard for the first disguise.
[TF2] "Out of memory or address space" on OS X with high texture..
If Steam stopped selling games right now and were to actually go through with their linux shit, that alone would prevent Steam from becoming irrelevant; You don't seem to be able to grasp how important that is to gaming - just that one thing alone ignoring the other features. Of course these features were developed for customer attachment and the like and it's intended to make you like and buy more games of their platform but the moment these features start being important on their own, it stops being a storefront.
If Linux support is added, but no games are added to make use of it, how is it important without the storefront to support it?
He also posted a few more posts in that day relating to TF2 on Mac and Linux.
Having features and more flexibiity in terms of what you can do with the platform and in the platform is fine, but at this point Steam is less about adding features but rather Stacking them fpr the sake of saying it has it. I genuinely see no point in stuff like having its own dedicated streaming service just to say it has one, specially considering it was only ever relevant when people used it to stream porn.
I thought we were talking as if the storefront right now was to be removed? Are Controllers or any other tools that enhance the videogame experience also just add-ons to a storefront? I don't think we can get that abstract over semantics.
Holy Christ, how long has it been? I legit forgot about those maps.
It's weird how the Tf2 team works, who knows maybe those maps will be finished. Powerhouse was a map that was set to be a launch map for the game and took nearly a decade for it to be finally released
I made a video the day those maps went into beta, listen to how loud I'm screaming and you will realize just how long ago this was. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3650tRkIws
Back to the topic that only a total failure would make Valve to move their ass and do something. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D1aOwk5XQAAEO8U.png

I miss Oldpunch too
i've been getting a couple a few weeks ago, its so satisfying
valve works in odd ways because somewhere along the line somebody felt like the fall damage sound needed to be remade (???) then again they ruined all melee hits for a while too
One of the admins of the upcoming Mvm community event said on Reddit that their initial idea for a medal was too similar to what Valve planned and they had to do something different. https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/aol0y2/valve_news_network_on_what_hes_heard_about_the/eg1rz7v/
something they have on the backburner  The part of the metaphorical stove is the "back burner" unless they're talking about a further pyro update. https://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/d/d3/Pyro_laughevil02.wav
Actually I'm gonna go ahead and defuse this hype bomb before anyone makes a big fuss of it. Here's the line from the e-mail https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/237573/3032b4a9-1a37-4bee-905d-865571e4ce24/image.png My apologies on the behalf of the madness team. As there's a big difference between "may" and not including it at all in a sentence.
I did include a disclaimer that says it's possible Valve just has them on the backburner in-case they want to use it in the future. I should have put that at the top of my post.
This is the post that killed TF2. But yeah, there's a HUGE HUGE difference between them saying "we have future plans for similar medals" and "they look too much like already in-game medals". The above is purely joking, but considering how low the hopes are for the community at large at this point, it's not the best mistake to make.
I'm really sorry. I realize worded that reddit post in the worst possible way now that I've gotten to see the e-mail. Thought we really had something and it got me excited.
Not your fault, if what you said about the e-mail was true. It's understandable you'd get excited over something like that, it's more on the shoulders of whoever got the e-mail and reported on what the response was.
They should let us wear the medals you get from Casual mode, would be a better reward than a thing on the menu and scoreboard
who actually wears medals though outside of special competitive league ones?
it would help if the ones on the scoreboard actually worked and showed the medal color for the tier they're in, instead of all being silver casual medals lost what little use they had once they had level 1 and level 151 players looking exactly the same
