TF2 General Chat & Speculation Station V17 - Ms. Pauling Won't Stop Calling Me

The closest I've seen taken was Phanty Star Online be considered massive... Sure, you could bump into large groups in the lobby, but when you actually play with them in the actual game the most you interacted with was like 4...
I'm sorry, but Massive is reserved for games where you can interact with hundreds of players all at once while playing the game for me. FFXI's besiges had up to 750 players all at once while fighting beastmen hordes during that event.
Team Fortress is a MO ( Multiplayer Online ) game at best...
MMO was juts a term coined to refer multiplayer games online.
Until eventually it was down to the MMORPGs of the early 2000's, and now aparently for BR games.
One of the fuckheads impersonating me (there's like THREE of them currently) keeps stealing my Steam icon. I amused myself for the last few days changing it constantly, but I grow bored. I just made a new Steam icon in Photoshop. Your move, motherfucker.

Big oof. Remember those kickvote Heavy bots I mentioned? Turns out they're mass reporting people:
https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/b2trbi/warning_matchmaking_kickbots_can_get_you_banned/
I am glad I only play on community servers, I really am. Not being able to play because no people are on beats dealing with shit like this any day.
Fuck me, these kickbots can cause actual, long-term damage to players? Valve seriously needs to look into this, if they weren't motivated before for some reason or another.
It’s almost as if we don’t have a development team.
Oh wait. We don’t.
maybe if you would want to argue about something that actually matters rather than going "tf2 is dead, change my mind"
we quite literally talked just last or second last page about how we have confirmation that a team exists and that they are working on something and you *still* bust this kind of stuff out for the 4th time...?
Wow, I just had an incredible game. The other team had catbots, mostly playing as aimbot Heavies that spouted random insults in the chat every now and then. But. But.
Our team had something they didn't.
Coordination.
We had like 2-3 guys on mic giving callouts, tips and orders to where to go and what to do. I relegated myself to Medic duty seeing as almost everybody else had their own role to fill to combat the bots (which I won't go into detail about to avoid giving the bot devs any ideas). And my god, not only did we win on offense by the sheer force of rushing together, but we also won on defense through incredible coordination. For 10 minutes straight. They tried to switch to Snipers, it mattered very little. We held the line, and we fucking won the match.
don't use "change my mind" it makes internet people really mad.
It only makes people mad when the person saying it never really was going to change their mind.
Which os usually all of them.
He did it.

Ballsy. Stupid, but ballsy.
Well, now that everything seems to be up and running, I feel right in announcing this now:
TF2RV is a-go!
I now own a TF2 US server and, thanks to JugadorXEl's help, I have it set up with UMC mapvoting, no crits, and plugins for modifying weapon attributes so I can start helping reshape TF2's more lacking and more overbearing weapon design choices into something universally enjoyable.
Right now the server is basically a stock Tf2 server, the only notable differences are two community maps in the map rotation (koth_product_rc8 and koth_ashville_rc1) and random crits being disabled, but as time goes on (and assuming the server is populated) I'll be testing out various tweaks and balance adjustments to weapons and potentially classes.
The server's IP address can be found in this announcement. The server isn't a one-time thing, it'll be up and running for the forseeable future, so feel free to just hop in if you want to play.
If the FP members that host EU server events want to get in contact with me, I'd love to also sort out doing US server events, since it seems like we don't have those yet.
yo put the heavy switching
It's coming, I wanna just get the server going and get the word out first, right now the 3 big changes will be nerfing Spy's Diamondback, the Heavy weapon switching, and fixing Pyro's particle problems, chances are it'll be on the server within 1-2 days
impersonate someone else, and see what happens
Good luck, you're going to need it.
no.
I don't need luck, just like I told Jug, even if my server fails, i had so much fun and spent a good week just doing something I've always wanted to do, fucking around with tf2's servers and proving to myself that I can learn something as interesting and as engaging as running a server. It's a (admittedly very minor) dream I've had since I first started playing TF2, and just being able to do it means more than the effort to actually fix the balancing issues.
Good on ya. If you have Discord, which most folk do nowadays afterall, throw me a DM and I'll give you a role which is allowed to make Server announcements and ping the respective region.
Mind you from personal experience - atleast the EU ones - despite how often Facepunch says that they miss the good ol' community server stock TF2, the most successful server events so far have been the ones involving custom, weird and stupid shit. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but just saying from experience. Maybe US is different.
If you have any question how the discord server ping rules etc. go - just ask. Quite honestly I haven't been incredibly involved or even played TF2 in a decent chunk of while because smash brothers ultimate is my newfound passion and tf2 hasnt had a patch with new shit but as far as dealing with this kind of shit goes, Im up.
torso head hand scale are best used with negative values. combine with voice pitch scale for lols.
I get a bad password when I use the ip
I'm currently keeping the server closed now that I'm screwing with values for weapons - Spy diamondback nerfs and Loch going back to 2 pipes incoming
If I weren't heading to work in 20 minutes I would give it a shot. Luckily I have 2 days "off" after I get off work tomorrow morning so maybe then.
I need to start looking into getting back into community gaming instead of just relying on casual all the time.
I was one of those randos, my bad
NP, i was more amused than anythnig, it's kind of exciting to have random people join your server unprompted. I don't mind random people joining, I just feel bad since I'm not actually playing so they'll just end up sitting there. I imagine you were Mayor Luigi, and I know Borealis hopped in to test the Heavy minigun buff, but I did also have a new rando hop in early on and try to headshot me multiple times with a Huntsman. Eventually I realized he wouldn't stop aiming way over my head, and started jumping so he could actually headshot me (he got me once then I promptly restarted)
That being said, I've added enough minor changes to open the floodgates and reveal the server's first "patch notes":
Soldier
the Black Box
- Now guarantees +7 health on any damage to an enemy
Demoman
Loch-n-Load
- Clip size now -50% instead of -25%
Iron Bomber
- -5% damage
Heavy
Passive
- Heavy can now swap weapons while his minigun is spun-up
I intended there to be a Diamondback nerf as well, but there's a hitch (I wanted to change the crits on kill/sap to mini-crits, but they don't respect ramp-up and were always 45 damage, meaning it'd be garbage, and I'd like to take more time tinkering with it) so that change can wait until another day.
I'll also be conducting community votes to determine what the consensus is for certain weapons or balancing ideas. I'll be posting to the tf2 subreddit soon enough, but I just wanted to get the word out here because I know a majority of FP users could use something to look forward to ever since the TF2team went dead silent.
I'll take a fast stab at these since I'm sure you'll be getting feedback in the upcoming days.
Black Box: I'm assuming it's a flat heal with this context. It's muted enough to not be overbearing but it still won't exceed the strength of having a fourth rocket. Part of the extraneous perception of Black Box's issues is caused by the Concheror, which I imagine you have in your queue to address.
Loch-n-Load: Consistency aside, it's a pretty garbage launcher for anything that isn't sentry busting and even that is outshined by the burst damage of stickies. Not much that can be done with a 2-shot launcher because you'd otherwise defy all damage thresholds and fuck things up. If you want to go heavy on the building buster schtick you could consider shot refunding when striking buildings.
Iron Bomber: 5 damage may not be enough but it's enough to break 2 important damage thresholds. 200 and 300 hp. Without being able to consistently kill soldiers and heavies in 2/3 shots, Demos that are worth their salt can't rely on these pipes for self defense. While the importance of reigning it in even slightly is necessary, this change will unfortunately get it thrown into the shitcan for bringing back the days of needing to 4 shot a heavy without overheal. Granted, with a sticky focus, the pipes will primarily be coming out if someone's jumping in or demo needs fast damage, but it'll be a loss for nade-focused playstyles.
Heavy: We've discussed this change already. Glad to see it in action.
I feel like the Black Box could be flat at 10HP imo.
