idk about you guys but i never saw the tfc scout/soldier pedo thing until people brought it up. thought the joke was oh, they're gonna become good people and now pyro killed them oops
There's a million things they could've been referring to; such as child soldiers.
Immediately jumping to "they want to fuck the children, you see" is a bit... strange
Tbh, the dialogue would've been clearer if they just ended the conversation as he was sayong "let's do this", it's not really clear at all what direction they're trying to steer the two towards because, let's be real, something like "an endless supply of free kids to xyz" definitely has negative connotations, and it doesn't really mesh well with the rest of the dialogue, especially since those two tfc mercs have literally no backstory to link to their thoughts of an orphanage. Either go for the "they're turning good! But then they died" joke or the "they're actually assholes who want the kids for their own manevolent purposes! They're awful people still" joke. Don't go for both, it's just confusing.
Funny that Geel agrees considering he and I have spoken in the past. Of course, I imagine he probably knows a hell of a lot of people and some associations are easier to forget than others. Regardless, there's no need for the hostilities.
TF2 has maps that clearly take place outside of the American southwest, what the fuck is this about the New Mexico desert?
cp_badlands? I assumed by Badlands it was referring to New Mexico. I also googled "Badlands new mexico" to see if it's a thing and it is apparently.

I mean it bugs me that supplemental material seems to treat the entirety of the Team Fortress series as taking place in a specific part of the world that renders a huge swath of maps impossible.
RED and BLU are both said to be international entities in the lore
it stands to reason, and is arguably demonstrated in-game, that the maps outside of the US are simply the mercenaries fighting over other territories in the world
I assume the fighting started in the badlands and spread out around the world.

Second, my opinion of you is developed entirely from the posts you've posted under this username, and frankly, I have a lesser opinion of the person using this username than I had of 404.
But really, there isn't any actual hostility meant. It's just that you can't get upset when people don't know who you are if you're using an alt

I apologize if I was reading into them. Admittedly I'm not the best at being "social" sometimes. I take things to heart too quickly/easily. I find things funny that others might not, as evidenced by some of my posts. I'm just trying to fit in. I tried posting the way I saw others posting and I guess I just did a shit job of it. Always been this way really, always trying to fit in and never really succeeding. I love the TF2 community as a whole, I love TF2, I love the Source engine despite the limitations. I was very into TF2 beta content and wanted to be remembered as the TF2 beta guy and I took myself way too seriously. It was one of those existential "I don't want to be forgotten when I'm gone" things. Something I've been struggling a lot with lately.
And I ramble sometimes. Sorry. Hopefully I explained my reasons behind the "using an alt" thing well enough in my previous post. It was like a "fresh start" kind of a thing. Boy I really screwed that up didn't I? I'm honestly going to try to improve my posting habits. No more fucking nonsense, I'm only going to post if I've got something worthwhile to add to the conversation.

Today is April 1st. In TF2, all default weapons taunts (save taunt kills? I forget...) are replaced with the schadenfreude. If you happen to venture on to Valve servers, you'll see many F2Ps marveling over their newfound taunt.
Also tonight I encountered a blatant cheater who didn't know about the April 1st/Schadenfreude thing and was quite confused about it.
I still don't see the pedo thing, really. This would make more sense: Grey Mann - the man paying them - is dead. This means they need money. In fact, when the TFC Engineer confronts the TFC Heavy about how they're going to be paid now, you see the same two people involved in the "worst-written pedophile shock-value joke":

The government would have, at the time period the TF2 comics takes place, given funding to an orphanage. An "endless supply of free kids" means that they could invest very little of that funding into feeding them and pocketing the rest of the money - no mercenary work needed. Before they do this though, they have to "clear those grenade crates out". Somebody who cares for the children over the money would probably not use a site where weapons were stored to raise them. A pedophile would probably also not opt to do this either, given the obvious self danger of imposed by not properly clearing everything out.
