While the level of detail and realism in the DC map is amazing, I can't help but wish that this far superior game could have been paired with the first game's setting. I feel like New York was just more visually striking, especially the Dark Zone being in the middle of the city with canyon-like, perpetually shadowed streets. I also kind of miss the sort of omnipresence of the virus in the first game in the contaminated zones and stuff. It is nice that the very recognizable DC landmarks give you a better sense of where you are in the city, though. The new game just feels a little more typically post-apocalyptic to me, whereas I found the recency and realness of the first game's disaster to set it apart in some ways.
The Div 2 feels like the I AM Alive concept materials got salvaged into the setting - where the collapse has already happened months ago and you're stepping into the ruins where a status quo (of sorts) has re-established itself.
My fav part of Division 2 is that despite the sun blasting the streets and it being 7 months since conflict and the disease started, all of the bodies you find are apparently from the last 2 minutes. Either that or there's a secret 5th faction of undertakers or something running around with supersoakers filled with embalming fluid.
The Cleaners are back but they're chill now, they just clean shit up literally instead of metaphorically
I'd imagine that all the bodybags are pretty rotten inside. Same for the dead CERA workers with HazMat suits you find in the DZ's.
After playing with D2 for a bit, I have a feeling that while the environment design is still brilliant, D1 uniquely applied a bit more real life logic to it. A seemingly odd example would be trash bag heaps. In DC these are fairly randomly placed. But in New York as far as I remember you could see many towering heaps in the soutwestern part of the map (which is mostly residential) but way less in the northeastern part (mostly offices). This makes sense as trash collection likely stopped around the time as people stopped working. Meanwhile in New York still no one buried the JTF bodies that lie literally in front of the main entrance of the base of operations...

Oh man the sidemission where you have to go as backup for an agent but then it turns out to be an ambush and you get electrocuted was interesting, does it have a followup?
It does, but not as a side mission per say. In the open world there are secret encounters with the hunters (the guys who ambushed you) that require you to do certain obtuse things in order to trigger which were given to players through cryptic graffiti clues. They also stalk you throughout the game, messing with your HUD and watching you from rooftops and stuff before disappearing in a cloud of smoke which is pretty spooky. This guide will help you with how to trigger the encounters (spoilers obviously) but be warned they're very tough. https://www.reddit.com/r/thedivision/comments/b3u2ji/a_step_by_step_guide_on_how_to_obtain_all_12/
Those encounters are the most engaging gunfights in the game, and I wish there were more of them.

I'm sending my request; its Braytowk
https://www.reddit.com/r/thedivision/comments/be620y/current_pts_talent_changes_i_found/ if this is real then massive has learned nothing from division 1. instead of buffing underwhelming talents and stats, they're instead nerfing the "meta".
ugh i just unlocked the sharpshooter armor perk, its fucking useless heals only 50% for a short ass buff
https://www.reddit.com/r/thedivision/comments/be7qff/there_is_more_than_just_they_nerfing_all_dps_on/ These quotes contextualise some of the changes a bit more. This is what we are trying on the PTS. When there are too extreme damage talents, that requires the game to have big health pools for enemies to not trivialize the challenge, and that leads to bullet sponge effect for anyone not running that talent. we are not nerfing all damage talents. And all of this comes in a package with adjustments to the NPC on challenge and heroic. This isn't done in isolation. It's part of rebalancing based on feedback that the DPS needs are insane on heroic, leaving no room to spec survivability
sent my request for the FP clan alvarofer0021
div2 fashion will never compare to div1 fashion https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/237018/f5caafbe-737e-43df-a477-25214f26c385/bild.png
Yeah the launch pool of appearance items in 2 is pretty lacking, even when taking the store items into account. Although the current appearal event is very accessible and it was quite easy (for me at least) to acquire all of the new items pretty quickly so if they're all going to be that generous then we'll be swimming in fuckloads of cosmetics again in no time.
@StrawberryClock I think I saw you post it, if you still have it can you post that screenshot of my Div 1 character wearing goggles around her neck, helmet and on her mask, I lost it and I don't wanna reinstall the game to get another screenshot lol. Its the perfect example of why Div 1 cosmetics were the best
YES THEY FINALLY FIXED THE WORKBENCH
Was it in the old thread?
Found it, I remembered it was in a battlefield thread when people were making fun of goggles everywhere before bfv came out lol https://i.imgur.com/HnvqGgo.png Yea this was my character in Div 1 and its proof that Div 1 had the best cosmetics in any game
i see your goggles-operator and i raise you this https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/237018/27245587-688d-4326-a207-43fbd978e563/bild.png

Man, locking blueprints behind weekly projects sure is annoying. I thought doing the activities to raise the threat level, and then doing the control point, was a pretty nice incentive to run around in free roam. Its just irritating that i have to potentially wait up to a year to get the mod i want, and the weekly blueprint could be something absolutely useless. This week i got a blueprint for 5.11 gloves that i literally will never craft because whats the point in crafting something when the max GS of the bench is 490. What if there was a separate pool of blueprints for threat level 4 control points that you could grind after you hit the current cap. Or once you hit the cap, instead of a guaranteed blueprint, there would be like a 60% chance of getting one. Just anything but having to wait a week before potentially getting the blueprint you want.
