Ah ok! I had missed that this line existed, thanks for clarifying. Well, I can definitely assert to the Metal Color line also being of good quality. People usually say Vallejos metals are good but I really think they should clarify the metal color (or this liquid) range, because the MC or GC range is really lackluster imo.

HAPPY SANGUINALA! [Cries inconsolably]
Why Forgeworld consistently shows this model from the worst possible angle I have no fucking idea. The entire pose and design was based on the viewer looking at him head on, whereas from this angle his hair and face look bizarre. At this point I have to assume that the modeler has had a mental breakdown after seeing all these poor pictures ruining his hard work.
To be fair, they want to show off as much as the model as possible. They would barely be showing half of it if we saw it from the perspective of the daemon.

I'm thinking either him of Lucius.
Or related to one of the Warcry warbands.
Could be Warcry or just Fantasigmar in general related. But at the same time the Emperor's Children are the only of the four cult legions to not get a plastic character, Kharn, Ahriman, and Typhus all went styrene last year, and the plastic Abby just launched last week.
Considering we just had a huge CSM release and the focus for the near future seems to be AoS Slannesh, I'm just a bit doubtful of another CSM character. But who knows, GW likes to do random releases too ala Marbo.
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/259570/bf065661-ff52-42fa-873b-2be144c8e318/800px-Obyron2.png So I have a few paint questions. I'm using this model as a sample "Good GW model" How do you do the edge highlights on the sides of those dangling things? I usually just drybrush and use a wash to suss out detail. Secondly, how do you do those kinds of fades like how they paint Space Wolf mounts or on this fucking blade? Is it an airbrush? Because if it's an airbrush then yeah looks like I am not doing that. Bonus question: on 1st and 2nd edition, they manage to paint minis really bright. Is there a special way to do this? Like did they prime them white? Were paints back then more thick and thusly brighter? I'd love to get a 'throwback squad' of Orks in those garish 1e/2e colors. Back when Goffs wore Eyefucking-bright red and black instead of grey, black and silver.
From the Warp Get ready to spend a bunch of time blending. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERX3ghWvMDw
Aderans tips are great but also when it comes to edge highlights on things that have a clear accessible edge like that uh, "scarf", you can always do the finest highlight on the exact edge by simply lightly pushing the side of your brush towards. of course a light-as-possible touch is recommended to start with and then put more if it's not enough.
Edge highlighting can be defined in 3 easy steps: Turn brush to be 45 degrees to the edge you want to run a line of color along Run the brush along the edge (or in my case, make short light strokes to get the desired pressure before committing to the full length of the surface) Panic once you reach any edge that isn't perfectly flat In terms of making a model really bright its all about the contrast and highlights. Note on that model even the lightest colored surface is still highlighted with something a tad lighter while having near black in the recesses. I find a model stands out far more with extreme contrasts than similar colors ie - the blended green on the weapon going from nearly black to highlighter green with an edge highlight thats almost white.
Man, how would it be to Wet Bland tiny areas? I'm painting the Lord of Khorne from the 1.0 AoS box, ive gotten the reds down after Agrex so i need to bring them back up, but im wondering if i should now do that with the first highlight at the same time?
Probably more trouble than it's worth unless you really, really want to.
http://www.coolminiornot.com/pics/pics6/img4092f0bc186ac.jpg Coulden't find the official art on google search but this is what I mean when I say "The really bright garish colors they painted figures with in 1st and 2nd edition". It's likely the paint they had was also more shall we say, paint? And brighter. I remember when they changed ranges from something previous into the base/layer/shade/glaze system we have now. Still have a few old style paints, although I think I lost most of those due to them just going bad or running out. https://classic40k.files.wordpress.com/2015/02/2015-02-08-019.jpg?w=700 Also I love these guys and really want to find some for my own to run as Meganobz. Yes, I know they'd be a bit small to be Meganobz but whatever, I don't think 4+ armor for Nobz is a thing anymore so it'd be the best fit. Also, Powerfists. Paint their armor blue to make them look like their cosplaying for StarCraft.
Warcolours has a line of nostalgia paints that are supposedly pretty similar to old GW colors.
I may pick up a swatch or two up just to make some Flash Gitz the ultimate in Flash and - Orc Brown … Yikes!
Coat D’Arms | Black Hat Miniatures Coat D'Arms was the old Citadel paint supplier back when there was Nipple Pink and all that jazz so maybe check them out, apparently they use pretty much the same formula as back then. Wargames Foundry paints are also made at the same factory but they seem to get more praise from those that use them.
The Regimental Standard: The Anti-temptation kit A posthumous promotion has been delivered to Lance Corporal S. Carlin, who made the novel choice to affix his bayonet to the front of his Leman Russ and manoeuvre it into the creatures, thus driving them back. Any trooper wishing to recreate the Carlin Manoeuvre is welcome to do so, provided they fill out the appropriate replacement paperwork for the Leman Russ.
That Necron scythe looks glazed rather than wet blended, judging by how the highlights fall. IMO glazing is much easier to learn, especially for the general purpose of smoothing highlights, rather than specifically wet-blend-friendly surfaces like cloaks and banners. So to glaze, paint your first highlight as normal. Then take a mix of the highlight and base color, mix it with lots of medium, get most of it off your brush, and very lightly feather the paint across the transitions. If you've done it right it will just barely wet the surface and dry within seconds. Repeat, gradually building up the color, until the transition looks smooth.

Okay, I figured they would probably add Jezzails, but really wasn't sure to expect the Ratling Guns. Skaven are gonna be nuts come this DLC. and i welcome it.
Yeah afaik glazing is how the Eavy Metal team does transitions not wet blending.
Got my flamer suicide team done. These guys have earned their points back every game, and I love the design of the sculpts, so I've been looking forward to painting them. I'm coming to think that five human-sized models is the sweet spot for batch painting. Enough that I can have some economy of scale, not so much that I don't want to spend time on each one. https://i.imgur.com/i1etyEd.jpg
That's a Grenadier Storm Squad, right?

Well, our 30K group finally got to use its Warlord for the first time today: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/235955/6d36c50c-693c-476c-bfac-cebc9c58aca2/IMG_20190405_162534727.jpg It's base is big enough that we were able to fit my Warhound on it as well lol https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/235955/e7704299-f690-4dee-bf37-f5610957656f/IMG_20190405_184100119.jpg We did a goofy game using 30K rules with the Warlord fighting against 2 Warhounds, a Primus Redoubt, a Baneblade, and a Typhon. As you can see, the Warlord ran a pretty friendly weapons loadout, and unfortunately paid the price, it did some damage turn 1 without killing anything, and then took 28 of its 30 hull points in the return fire. Turn 2 saw it kill a Warhound and start softening up the other one, but it didn't matter as the Warhound took one of its hull points, and the killing blow was struck in the lamest way possible, by ramming it to death with the Typhon: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/235955/26ae1447-a6df-4a12-8838-2ef064d9f123/IMG_20190405_193444776.jpg After that we played a "normal" game of 30K, a 2v2 game with 3,000 points per person; Blood Angels and Imperial Fists versus Death Guard and World Eaters in a nice Siege of Terra type battle with the dead Warlord in the middle of the field. It was an absolute bloodbath for everyone and a lot of fun, as well as Rogal Dorn's absolute best game ever, as he and his 4 man command squad wiped through a Glaive, assault squad with chaplain, 5 Red Butchers, and a tactical squad, with Dorn posed to wipe out a unit of quad launchers if the game continued. Tomorrow we're back at it again, hopefully I'll actually remember to take some in game pictures.
