Finally got around to getting some more bitz for my Death Riders, got the first model officially assembled, I think. Will probably modify the reins arm a bit to make the soldier, you know, actually holding the reins. Sorry for the picture quality, the light I use to normally light my pictures is dead, apparently. https://i.imgur.com/DXrniVA.jpg https://i.imgur.com/vnswk8D.jpg https://i.imgur.com/sgLKUJo.jpg Bitz used: Hussar Wings by Trolls Under the Bridge ACW US Cavalry by Perry Miniatures (horses and swords) Rough Rider Conversion Set by Victoria Miniatures Eagle Cuirass Torso by Victoria Miniatures Pickelhelm Heads w/ Gasmasks by Victoria Miniatures Shoulder Pads Mk.1 by Victoria Miniatures Flak Thigh Guard by Victoria Miniatures The bag is also Vic Minis, but is only used on this model because 1. it was lying around and 2. the thigh guard was damaged.

The soldier needs to be careful, I see Audrey II behind him. "Feed me!" https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/dragon-rap-battles/images/b/b1/Audrey_II.png/revision/latest?cb=20161027162551
On Catachan those are known as "house plants"
So, the reason skitarii are getting transports is to make them shut up.
Apparently that's also why we're getting an Iron Hands Character and a Renegade Knights... codex(?) I think GW are taking the piss out of themselves a little there as well, but I think Sisters, Renegade Knights, the Iron Hands Character and the AdMech transport do show they are listening to us, even if they are slow to respond. It gives me hope they might actually reassess various subfaction rules at some point, because they are all over the place at the moment.
The little drinking bird desktop novelty they usually set up to staff the requisitions office had suffered a grievous malfunction and had to be sent for sacred maintenance.
Ordered a buncha stuff from alchemists workshop, they didn't have big box I ordered in stock, so they gave me all the individual components along with two boxes of cataphract terminators (and a bag of haribo) Woop https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/516/72d7c680-cf6e-466a-b85d-e1397d6e2b6d/1557251227582533066642.jpg
They realized their products simply arn't selling like they used to and want to see how being human for the first time in decades works out
No Ammo? No Problem! – The Regimental Standard Your tank commander’s sword is not merely ceremonial. If required, you must drive them into a position where they can launch a devastating bladed assault from the cupola. You are permitted to aid in this with encouraging invective.
I'm going on a road trip in a week, so I went and got some audiobooks. Got the first Cain book and Malleus. I think that's the trip covered.
Apparently Mechanicum is getting 3 or 4 new armiger patterns https://warofsigmarus.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/blogging/picture1/3829/Screenshot_2019-05-09_17.19.40.png https://warofsigmarus.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/blogging/picture7/3829/Screenshot_2019-05-09_17.41.07.png Also the Kahn's bodyguards https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/5dcd739b1b784662e1f6536d0942d1541c65a5e23f2cf70c5af7a2bd9a9a4da1.jpg

Ah shit, here we go again.
Wait, those're new colours then?
As far as I can tell they're basically just semi-wash variants of existing paints. They're mostly just for speed painting over white primer.
Dunno if I'll get any of this or not. Depends on if it has any uses outside of speed painting. https://i.imgur.com/B7wAdpi.jpg

Chaos Knights are cool. The Mechanicus Transport is okay. I'm definitely going to modify it and put a roof over the transport compartment though, looks like its half-built from the front with the two dudes just aiming the guns to the sides and standing in the open. The tank is fine except for the turret, which looks really goofy, especially since its a miniature version of the chassis of the Dune crawler. I'm going to have to replace that with something more conventionally tanky. I like the general idea of the Mechanicus having a hover tank though. Looks neat.
I'm usually not into action figures, but... https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/504070452495253525/576564932984963073/image0.jpg https://www.belloflostsouls.net/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Bandai-May10-Figure20yych.jpg
It's basically a d-day style landing boat. It even has a rudder on the back.
Shame it's not like a Gunpla kit.
I really doubt this contrast-painting method will be useful with Orks. The tried and true method of layers works wonders, especially if you have something like Nobz and want them greener, then leading to drybrushing. I'll admit it looks great for Daemons but that's because those are almost entirely one-colour. With Orks, you still have their leather armor (which should be military-blue if Blood Axes, or very brown for Snakebites)
Basically looks like an amalgamation of landing craft, it has a Higgins boat style assault ramp, an LVT style gun arrangement, and a hovercraft propulsion system.
I'm well aware, but the side gunners just make it look silly. As with everything else, the chronic problem with vehicle designs in the general GW design department excluding FW is that they just seem to slap as many guns as possible on without thinking about whether it looks aesthetic or makes sense. And yes I'm not saying the Predator having side mounted heavy bolters is "practical" but it does look aesthetic. Its more believable that the ammo feed for the Predator's three armaments would work with that design, and it doesn't look overdone. Just as with the Taurox, the Repulsor and this Mechanicus thing all suffer from looking bizarre by virtue of overkill even by traditional 40k standards.
The gun placements remind me enough of a wwi Era tank I don't really feel like they were just randomly added. The whole thing just feels like a literal land ship.
Also, just having a gun in a ball mount sticking out the side is how transport firing ports work. http://afvdb.50megs.com/usa/pics/m2bradleyside.jpg Here you can see them on a Bradley IFV, just without guns in them. If anything the firing port weapons on this new Skitarii transport look better than usual for GW vehicles since on other 40k vehicles the entire gun action sticks out, rather than just the barrel like it's supposed to be.
Infact on looking at these further, the contrast paints also seem terrible for Space Wolves, the army that I have a few of. They might be okay for Dark Angels (an army I am interested in, even have a termi squad of them) but I really don't know much of what else they'd be good for, aside from things that are just one color of course.
It's just a thick shade onto a special primer right? The only reason it works as "all 3" is because it'll pool in recesses and on flat areas but not on corners/raised areas which gives the illusion it's also a highlight. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/223764/c72ddac2-06c0-4d33-8d9f-e3c54e116e86/image.png But if you look at the top left- for some colours it really doesnt do too well. That said with a thinning medium i think you could do some interesting glazes/blends with them.
I mean I don't know about you guys but I'm honestly pretty jazzed that I'll be able to quickly knock out a new tabletop ready squad to use until I can get around to painting it properly.
