Pichu and the three Trainer amiibo that aren't Charizard are up for pre-order in the UK
I am really fucking sick of the stage builder's shit right now
I'm trying to put a different textured piece NEXT TO a part of the stage with physics, to hold it steady so it falls straight down, but while I can do this on the left side of the physical object, I can't do it on the right side for some fucking reason. No matter what I try to do, it keeps fucking merging the piece I'm trying to place with the physical object ON THAT SIDE ONLY, I can't figure out what I'm going to have to do to bypass this fucking garbage. It's making me not want to make the stage, because its gimmick relies on this one part working correctly, AND IT JUST ISN'T.
Oh boy, there are a FUCKTON of problems with symmetry in the stage builder. I've build completely symmetrical stages, USING THE GRID so I know they're 100% symmetrical, only to wind up with parts of the stage you can grab on to on the left but not on the right, despite them being exactly the same, just mirrored. I feel like that feature was rushed to production.

So normally spirit events are whatever. But this one says you can obtain additional items such as "mating flower status" (translated by Microsoft). Does anyone have any idea what that means? I'm genuinely baffled
Guessing it has something to do with the flower status effect from Lip's Stick, not sure the context though.
The piranha plant is going to fuck

We can now fuck 5-Volt .
SP gains are multiplied by 3, and you'll get additional HP Drain battle items. You know, weaken minions, 50% damage, those things.
Phew. After a LOT of wrestling with the path tool, my latest creation is just about complete... The Grand Chapel

A heavily Castlevania-inspired stage designed from the ground up to be as Belmont-friendly as possible, in every way I could think of (outside of just making it a walk-off, heh). Simon and Richter can do a full circuit of the stage along its platforms with just walking full-jumps, including that gap in the middle if you're precise, leading to an authentic Castlevania feel. And boy, speaking of an authentic feel, the background was really fun to design this time around; moving gears, stairwells, tight spaces and perilous gaps, I'm just disappointed I couldn't add more due to the object limit.
But seriously, this stage is Belmont heaven. Their Fsmash covers half of the main ground at once, their Usmash can swat you from under the top platforms, their aerials can easily catch you on any of the platforms, said platforms also being positioned perfectly in the arc of thrown axes from midstage for high or from the ledge for low, they have a huge number of holy water options depending on where they're standing, and a well thrown cross on the main stage denies that space pretty effectively, being the perfect width for a "soft" forward toss to get some breathing room.
Once I beta test with friends shortly, and fix any bugs/issues I find from that, I'll be sharing it here! Stay tuned!
At a quick glance I thought the theme was "canonically dead women".

Same artists who drew those other realistic depictions of Smash characters.
there's apparently a glitch with certain custom stages that causes the game to be sped up
i just saw it on reddit on my phone but i can't find it again lmao
And now I cannot unsee Patton Oswalt as Wario.
Guess what time it is.
That's right, it's Vin time.

HOPPING HATE
Four balls of lava bounce back and forth at different rates on a simple floating platform. Your opponent's attacks won't be the only thing you'll have to dodge.
FURIOUS PENDULUM
A pendulum of ice swings side to side above a shallow bowl whose outer edges extend all the way downward.
No real hazards, though you may find that items tend to collect in the bowl.
SPINSANITY
Three concentric semicircles orbit around a bumper, and you'd better keep up and stay alert if you hope to maintain your footing.
Two spinning corner platforms with icy undersides and burning edges offer a second chance to those who fall.

SPINAL DESTINATION
What first assembles into a basic Final Destination clone soon starts bending in on itself. A firey shock awaits while the stage is split into pieces.
SLYSCRAPER
A building with a central elevator that travels between the inside and the roof. Walk-offs extend to either side, with chasms separating them from the building.
SKUTTLING
See you on the other sid▄┌𝟔▌┘▌⑤┐┐⓿█▄7▄▀𝟠┌└𝟮▌
SINWHEEL
Atop a windmill/lighthouse-like tower, a ring of six small slabs rotates opposite to a ring of six large slabs. Thin beams connect two pairs of slabs in each ring.
Similar to Spinsanity, but slower and with far more areas to maintain your footing. (The lava bit is in the background and just for show, as is the tower itself.)

WINGNUT PLAINS
Beneath a Battlefield-like arrangement of drop-through platforms, a small floating island glides back and forth between two cliffs.
WINDMILK
A Brawl-esque windmill of four drop-through platforms spins above a chasm, flanked by inward-sloped solid ground.
N-SPACE
Eight blocks move around an N-shaped path, creating a discombobulated jumble. Those green ones look special, perhaps you'll be jostled around less on them.
WINDOWS DRESSING
Four double-decker rectangles - red, blue, yellow, and green - comprised of drop-through platforms travel around each other above a stable flat field.
The colored corners can be used as outer handholds to ledge-grab onto (but not stood on) and hoist yourself up to the actual roofs of the rectangles.
Except for the far-right one up top, all stages support eight players.
POST 6000
Roster GSP: ~1,600,000ish
Character I've never touched GSP: ~4,420,000ish
Thanks, game, I can really tell you want me to try out new characters instead of sticking with the single one I can play. Getting bodied as a character I've only played in Classic Mode against people on the cusp of Elite Smash is a blast.
Matchmaking is based mostly on roster GSP from what I've seen. At least, that's the conclusion I come to after getting the same level of opponent over and over and getting bodied with Sheik until I was around 120k GSP with her.
You couldn't be more wrong. I've got no bloody clue what in the world Roster GSP does, but it does not matchmake around it. It primarly matchmakes you around the GSP your specific character you are queuing as has.
Also as a response to the first one; At first, your GSP will be incredibly sensitive. Youll probably be sent to your skill level with that character after 3-4 losses or so, given fundamentals carry over and are half the deal in smash.
I started with Sheik at 4 million. I played until I got down to 120k. In that time there was never any significant drop in average level of skill for the people I was playing against. I was also getting matched against people with 3 million GSP still. If matchmaking matches you based on your character's GSP, why the fuck was that happening?
Because the first few matches with specific characters are obviously going to fuck your gsp considerably
After about 20 matches your GSP will start to level out.
This was like 8 matches in a row
Yes and as I said, after about 20 matches your GSP will start to level out
This probably isn't going to be a surprise, bur Ultimate has surpassed Brawl as the best-selling fighting game of all-time. 13.81 million units currently, compared to Brawl's 13.30. A console attach rate nearly three times-higher.
This places it solidly in 3rd place. It may catch up to Super Mario Odyssey, currently sitting at 14.44 mil, but doesn't seem like it will come close to topping Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which despite being an enhanced port, sits at 16.69 million units and remaining one of the best-sellers.
It's likely to stay that way, while Smash does have broad appeal it's way, way more niche than the super-accessible powerhouse of family fun that is Mario Kart.
MK8D is a borderline requirement to own if you own a switch, because it's basically guaranteed that you will eventually one day end up in a social situation where you really should own Mario Kart.
No lies, I bought a Switch specifically to play MK8D with friends when we hung out at somebody's house together. I brought it out, we played for about 10 minutes, then everybody wanted to just swap to Sm4sh.
I sold my copy of MK8D a little while later.
I've found I really like making stages based off of theme park attractions, so here's The Jurassic Park River Adventure!

The boats spawn on the left, then slide across the stage before going over a waterfall. Honestly, the ability to make respawning objects is the best feature in Stage Builder by far. Now if only they could fix some of the more annoying aspects about it (lack of copy/paste button, lack of a precise eraser, inability to change music or background after you're done editing, etc.)
