What are you on about? I never said the archetypes are exclusive to smash
Mario is pretty much the definition of a shotoclone... He' got a fireball, and uppercut, a spin attack, and is a generic all-rounder.
spin attack =/= tatsumaki. Mario also doesn't have that move and hasn't since Brawl, he has FLUDD as a special. He has the spin attack on his downA but to call that a tatsumaki would be to call his cape a fireball. Shotoclone requirements: Fireball - good screen-wide spacing projectile Tatsumaki - screen-wide mobility option Shoryuken/uppercut - strong anti-air/out-of-combo option
Perhaps the most basic form of Fighting Game character. Usually Jack-of-All-Stats, this fighter's two most notable Special Attacks are a fireball or other projectile attack, and a rising physical attack, usually an uppercut (the standard versions of these are the Hadouken and Shoryuken). Their third attack is either a Spin Attack or an attack that rushes forward, or both (the standard version being Hurricane Kickwhich can do both).
> (the standard version being Hurricane Kickwhich can do both).
Are you suggesting that Doc Mario's down B isn't a spin move? You are capable of parsing the "Either, or both" from the text I quoted, right? I never suggested that Doc Mario was more shoto than the original shoto. Literally no one is saying that.
???? I was talking about actual regular Mario. Not Doctor Mario.
It really doesn't matter, folks

Pichu is still going to be high tier Change my mind
They didn't change anything that big, so yeah.
I'll just re-inforce your idea I really think Pichu isn't going anywhere unless a hardcounter pick is found for him. Maybe the closest hard counter I could think of is Mii Swordsman, since they have a reflect and a strong projectile, as well as (unless it's been nerfed) a basically guaranteed kill from neutral at around 80% max for Pichu specifically. If their tornado neutral-b can hit pichu through upb spam on the stage, there may be something there. That being said I don't like the idea of mii swordsman being top tier any more than pichu being top tier. One poison for another.
Swordfighter is considered good? I always considered them the weakest of the Miis in both Smash 4 and Ultimate. Maybe I just have a lousy loadout on mine.
Not good, but acceptable. Link upb+ tornado neutralb is very strong especially since the knockback is set on the neutralb
Fingers crossed that this ups the chances of Banjo DLC for Smash? https://twitter.com/BeanstalkGroup/status/1134206788314828802
Introducing Steve for Smash, featuring Banjo as a skin
I'd much rather see Crash than Banjo.
Resetera shut down a few threads because of that guys post. It's pretty funny.
I'd much rather see Spyro than Crash
I rather prefer see both Spyro and Crash
I'd much rather see..... uhhh Who's lesser then Spyro
Geno
Croc
In any other game, I'd agree, but Banjo has more significance in the context of Smash (aka a Nintendo-history cross over game).
I think all 3 would be great.
Banjo has more potential for unique movesets I think, with Kazooie in his backback.
Banjo easily has the most potential moves Spyro would probably be the hardest to implement - hell, Insomniac stopped doing Spyro games because they felt he's too limiting of a character mechanic-wise. He could work, but it'd probably be a Megaman situation where they build his moveset around his actual gameplay, and not vice-versa. Crash would make the most sense purely because A. he's at this point a mascot on the tier of Sonic thanks to the remake, B. there's a new game to promote with CTR Nitro-Fueled on Switch, and C. He has an updated design that would fit into the Smash artstyle pretty well, maybe with a bit of tweaking on his fur to make it a bit less realistic and tweaking his eyes to make them smaller. That being said, I'd take all 3 in a heartbeat, and even one of them would be fine by me. --- Now that that's discussion done, let's talk about Why You Should Want Funky Kong in as a DK Echo. https://media.tenor.com/images/e37d49751da89b1fed4000954948430b/tenor.gif
Banjo would work really well because he has so many moves in his two games that they could probably copy them directly for like 80% of his moveset.
i just want minecraft steve to see all the smash purists cry and shit themselves also he would be cool
He would not translate well to smash, artistically speaking. Minecraft isn't exactly known for pristine animations. His attacks and overall movement would be boring as shit.
