I kind of gave up on base Toad being a realistic fighter idea after seeing that not only had he returned as Peach's neutral special but was now incorporated into her grab attacks, and since Captain Toad is a map element in New Donk City, I don't expect him to be introduced until the next iteration of Smash, if there is one.
Like others said, I think Minecraft would be cool as a stage, but I don't see Steve working as a fighter. Maybe as an Assist Trophy, but even then you gotta wonder if there are other potential ATs from the game.
Like a Creeper. That'd be entertaining, plus it's iconic.
Literally the only leak I ever found any truth in regarding unannounced Smash Bros. character was Ryu and Roy being datamined. That's it.

and one who leaked ridley/daisy and also got no replies except for being mocked
they were probably venue staff since they leaked like the day before but still
They actually uploaded the leak on april 1st if I recall correctly.
I personally think there is a lot pointing towards Banjo being in. What I don't like is how likely Erdrick is looking.
Erdrick + Banjo seems like the perfect double reveal. You please Japan while the West goes "who the hell is that?", then the roles are reversed.
Assuming for a moment Erdrick does become a fighter, I would find it very strange that'd they would reveal him character at E3. Dragon Quest is more or less nonexistent in the west, and I'd think it'd be weird to reveal a Japanese renown character at a western event with an audience primarily of westerners. I mean, E3 is probably the most important event to sell people on the Fighter's Pass, so wouldn't they save their best character for it?
But yeah this is also assuming Erdrick would be the only reveal. Unless they balance with a western character reveal, or any other reveal, like what above said, then I guess there's no problems and I'm just talking out of my ass.

A big part of - if not all of - Erdrick’s inclusion would be making Western audiences more familiar with the franchise. So revealing it as a bombshell reveal means lots of people will see it. You don’t need to sell Japan on a Dragon Quest character. Meanwhile you need to convince everyone else in the world that it’s a big deal. What better place then the biggest gaming event in the world?
still think it’s kinda scummy of SQ to get Nintendo to do all the heavy lifting for advertising what’s meant to be their most well known franchise to the West, though. Iwata used to foot the bill for the localizations too; they literally couldn’t bother to bring the games over themselves otherwise. Compared to EB which Nintendo wanted to bring over since the NES in the first place and FE which wasn’t anywhere near as big as DQ it‘s appalling.

Banjo & Kazooie is all but out right able to be confirmed as a DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on my end.
A 99% confirmation is close enough. There is that 1% chance it isn't. But it is looking like Shinobi602 wasn't teasing people for no reason since I am able to say on my end that it seems to be the case that Banjo fans will surely be in for a smashing good time.

I have no reason to be fearful of that and neither should you, assuming he's in. When Sakurai puts in 3rd party reps they're pretty much always plucked right out of the game they're from. 3rd parties in Smash are treated like royalty, and are represented more faithfully than like half of the Nintendo characters.
Even if this should excite me, I still don't buy Vergeben's leaks one bit and this feels like he's trying to save face and remain credible.
Banjo isn't outright confirmed by any other leaker and he never talked about Banjo once before all the evidence from other sources began to pile up, and now he says his sources say "there's a 99% chance it's Banjo"? Weird.
The "99% sure" thing sounds like an incredibly cheap and self-serving way to jump on board the train while having an out if it's wrong.
Verge is wrong about as often if not more often than when he's right, I'll believe it when I see it.
Just the wrong ones aren't really talked about(Though I think about the "tomorrows reveal absolutely won't be Links Awakening related" one a lot because it's hilarious to me.)
