That would actually be pretty sick, stage builder combo contests.
Contestant gets five minutes to build a stage from scratch and pick their characters, then another five to attempt their combo

I don't blame Hbox to be angry, regardless if that crab is malicious intent or not, it'll sitll could have gotten someone injured.

I personally think it's better to have them submit their combo-created stages beforehand and once the contest start they're already downloaded and ready to go, the only thing is to execute the combo.
I think it just boils down to an asshole being an asshole/doesn't like Hbox.
reading the comments on the video, someone pointed that despite all efforts "crab" doesn't have any kind of meaning in the scene.
someone happened to carry a crab and threw it at hbox because... he didn't had a tomato.
Melee seems to have this weird oroboros going on.
Originally it was fox only, final destination, no items like the memes stated.
Then it got diverse and "no you idiots we use other characters now"
Now everyone hates Hbox because he's not playing Fox or Falco like everyone else and is choosing a slower character wrapping back to the memes
So whenever he comes on screen you have literal broke brain morons screaming at him for being unhype because he's not breaking his wrist to play fox and getting livid. This apparently led to someone thinking that it would be hilarious if they started harassing him with physical assault whenever he won.
The reason is the Melee community is full of assholes and jackasses and either that was a melee community member being an asshole
Hungrybox's problem isn't that he's daring to buck expectations and pick a less popular character, it's that his playstyle is spectator poison.

thats a problem with melee's character design, not hbox's playstyle
taking melee out of EVO was most definitely not a mistake if the audience hates the optimal way to play in a tournament

Like, I love the game to death, but my head hurts even attempting to think of how to pull it off faithfully
I really want to email someone at Nintendo about, but I'm not fluent in Japanese, and I feel like sending an email to Nintendo of America about it would be awkward considering that they're not involved in the development of Smash Ultimate aside from translations.
Thinking about how Belmont/Ryu play just like their original games makes me want a Dark Souls character just because they'd stick out so much. Every other character has a 1 frame jumpsquat, but Jack Dark Souls has a 8 frame jumpsquat because Dark Souls characters maneuver like clunky pieces of shit. If you abuse rolls too much instead of just having them be less effective you get stuck with the fatroll.
They'd have a bunch of UI stuff too, like playing online on their stage stylizes other players as Phantoms (Dark Spirit Ganondorf Has Invaded/Phantom Knight Chrom Summoned) and changes the end round sound/announcement to be something like "YOU DIED/THE DEMON HAS BEEN DESTROYED/INVADER BANISHED". There would be bloodstains that if you touch them, you see how another Fighter was KO'd in a previous round. One of the music tracks would just be a lore dump from an NPC in the background, like Environmental Noises 2.0.
They'd be bottom tier if not for the fact they can poise through attacks and parry/backstab anything to death with good timing.
So I found a fun little geometry exploit with the level editor. Mario, Luigi, Dr. Mario, Ice Climbers, Pikachu, Pichu, Marth, Lucina, Ike, Chrom, Ryu, Ken, Shulk, Megaman, Incineroar, and a few others can make use of it.

A shape of two triangles overlapping in this way will allow any of the characters mentioned above clip through the center (where the purple section is) if they use their recoveries.

Here's the result of trapping a Young Link CPU in the hellzone.
So long as the overall bounding box is at least two units in every direction, the game will allow it, even if the majority of the platform is one unit wide. On top of this, the game won't allow rotating drop-through platforms and will convert them to outright solid, so if you want to make a thin platform that you can't pass through, just attach a gear to it and set the rotation speed to zero.
It's hacky, but it works. I've actually discovered quite a few workarounds for the limitations of this builder so far.
